You can’t imagine how scared I was the first week! But not for the lack of neighbours (Oman is incredibly safe, you can sleep with your front door open, I don’t even close my car in Salalah), but because here they believe in the jinns (spirits who roam in the houses) so I was terrified 😂but then I got used to it. I have to admit that I prefer to have neighbours and live in a little more busy area. Concerning hospitals and ER, the Sultan Qaboos Hospital was just at 10-15 minutes by car from the house

@toohappytobehomesick6 ай бұрын
To answer to your questions: 1. The Sultanate of Oman does not levy any taxes on personal income, including income from capital gains or property 2. I don’t know about this specific house, it depends on how many floors it has and the size of it but let’s say a medium sized house costs around 50.000 OMR (Oman rial) to be built 3. The south of Oman is not expensive in terms of rents (100 to 200 OMR per month for a flat) and food

Nice big house. My query is, there doesn't seem to be many other people in the neighbourhood/nearby. So if you are a family person with kids then your kids will not have many other kids to play with. Also, this being in such remote place, how quick are you likely to get ambulances/emergency services if you needed? Basically, you can't live there without having 1 or 2 cars.

Oman is super safe at anytime of the day and night, I’ve never had any problem since I first arrived back in 2012. I would respect the local dress code - no shorts, skirts below the knees and no tops. You can rent a car and drive by yourself without any problem. And if something happens, Omani people are very kind and always stop to make sure you’re ok. Oman doesn't have a retirement visa program like some other countries. Expats need a valid visa to remain in the country (employment). One can buy a property in designated tourist complexes, which allows to obtain a residence visa. In order to find a job in Oman I always suggest to go to Oman and search once in the country. Bear in mind that Oman has a law called “Omanization of Oman”: certain jobs can only be done by Omani (for example tour guiding in English language)

how was your life in oman?
@toohappytobehomesick Жыл бұрын
It was good! It’s safe and quiet, better than Italy for some aspects. It’s very good if you are a family or a couple. For singles it can be a little boring (in Salalah). That’s my personal opinion, because I do not go to clubs or meet expats there

@@toohappytobehomesick You right we are not much just 2m ppl and oman is big land. I am Omani btw. I asked just so that we can make oman better for anyone. the guests are important to us. About clubs, I understand if the tourist is a teenager. 😂😂😂But if he is an adult and has children and still go to clubs this is strange🤣
@toohappytobehomesick Жыл бұрын
😂exactly but when I was in Salalah or Muscat I knew many Omani and expats were going to clubs at hotels 😀 I am personally not interested in that life anymore eh eh

The area is called Awqad-near Raysut port and I did not pay any rent because it is my sponsor’s family property. The rent of a villa like this one is usually around 300 OMR a month

Hi there, excellent vlogs and information. Can you please suggest if 2500 OMR per month are sufficient for a family of three? I mean will I be able to save enough. Please help and advise.
@toohappytobehomesick11 ай бұрын
Hello, are you going to be in Muscat or Salalah? The last is cheaper than the capital city in terms of rent and cost of living. It all depends if your son/daughter should attend an international school. If not, then 2500 OMR is more than sufficient. Otherwise, the international school fees I’ve heard being very high

Btw that's superstition 5:40. In order to keep jin out of your house, you can play some verses of the Qur'an lol.

In my opinion it’s a good salary for Salalah, life is not expensive here at all. But you have to see what school your kids will attend. International schools are expensive in Oman like anywhere in the world I think
