i feel like doc wyatt said that because it was explained in season 1, the first spinjitzu master stopped the coalescence (now known as the merge) A LONG TIME AGO. he said he feared it would happen again so he hid them. only SO many generations later it finally happened. that's why doc wyatt stated that. it wasn't to deep lore. it was just a refresh what happened, and it makes sense why it isn't permanent.

Thinking about it it makes some sense. The Dragon Cores were first used to keep the realms separated and prevent them from crashing into each other and merging. But the Merge still happened so the Dragon Cores effect don’t last forever when used and would need to be reused to do it again. This could be a end of the series type of set up

We don't have to imagine - it's actually 17 realms! Yes, there were always 17 realms (and Tommy was always clear about that in the writers' room) it's just that season 5 and 6 used notoriously bad wording to communicate this clearly. Season 6 complicates this further by the idea of sister realms, but the unpaired 17th realm is probably just the departed realm.

I was just rewatching some Ninjago episodes and I noticed that the prophecy of the green ninja said he would defeat the dark lord. Of course the ninja that it was Lord Garmadon but as we figure out in Crystalized the Overlord had 4 name we know of:Overlord,Golden Master,Crystal King,AND Dark Lord. And Garmadons only other name that we know of is King of Shadows.

Yes, and I believe the prophecy remains unfulfilled. From the dialogue between Lloyd and the source dragon of energy, the First Spinjitzu Master clearly knew more about Lloyd's destiny than he wrote down, as he probably told the source dragons he will be "the one." The one for what? Deafeating the darkest force of nature of course! The Overlord by this theory is just the mechanism that slowly destabilizes the realms until they collapse in on themselves only for them to be created again, because wherever there is creation, there must be destruction, and where there is destruction, there must be creation. This is what the source dragon referred to when he said "Perhaps we will meet again before the end of this cycle" - the source dragons created the realm world and everything in it, but it all must be destroyed for balance to be maintained. There is also strong evidence for this. Ninjago city was the historical battlefield where the original final battle between FSM and the Overlord happened. This was highly suggested by the stone army being buried there after we were shown that FSM split the island when he was surrounded by them, the city itsled being a coastal city so it matches the location where this split cpi;d occur, the Overlord clearly holding the city and where it stands in high regard which he always took over personally, and finally, season 3 just confirmed they fought there with the temple of fortitude. And we also know that ninjago city (current crossroads) is the epicenter of the merge, an event that destroys the realms, and guess what the Overlord's ultimate goal is? Destroying the realms, and he also keeps destabilizing the balance while he is active, which we know to be a contributing factor to the merge. Too much coincidence for it to be an accident. Lloyd was born with Overlord's essence and power through his father's corruption by the great devourer which was corrupted by the Overlord, and now, he has absorbed the power of the source dragons. He holds within him the primordial powers that create and destroy realms, he may not have fully tapped into this potential yet, but he is clearly now vastly above any living creature, including the source dragons and this buffed Overlord. The source dragons will likely accept their fate of being replaced because they want the realms to live on in peace, but the Overlord is the exact opposite and will never give in. He will have to be fought, and defeated, by the one ninja that will *rise* above the others. And if the icing on the cake isn't clear enough, the show has now the subtitle "Dragons Rising."

Here’s my theory: Master Wu is essentially gone. Lloyd is the last living relative of the FSM. I think that Lloyd is going to slowly become like the next Spinjitzu Master and use the same powers the FSM did to create Ninjago. My theory is that Lloyd is going to create a whole new realm, after all the realms have been destroyed, due to the temporary stability of the Merge-Quakes. This will then create one large realm, that all the 16 Realms reside in, without the risk of destabilizing, since it would now be one large realm. Lloyd will have to grow into being a true master, not just to the ninja, but to honor his bloodline. This will also effectively end Ninjago/Dragons Rising. But hey, that’s just a theory.

I'm actually really glad that it's confirmed that the Merged realms can destabilize again because at the end of season 1, it felt quite anticlimactic because the big threat on the world shattering was stopped in the first season of what may be a 6 season series, according to rumors.
