I was a tomboy growing up. The closest thing to a son for my dad. I loved climbing trees, mud pies, jumping from the roof and beating the shit out of boys. My dad told me after I got married (the 1st time) that he always thought I was gay because I was a tomboy. I told him he’s nuts I had a boyfriend every year in school since the 6th grade 😂. Now I’m finally happily married and have a 2 year old son. How a KID acts and plays growing up has NOTHING to do with their sexuality!

I am a straight male. When I was super young in the early 90’s, I remember (alongside my nerf guns and boys toys) having Barbie’s and specifically this Barbie computer game where you could put makeup and hairstyles and stuff on Barbie. I loved this game and dressing up Barbie’s. At the time, I thought it was weird that I enjoyed these things that were for girls. As it turned out when I started getting older, I realized it was because I was attracted to these female dolls and making my “ideal pretty girl” on the video game was fun for me. I would be terrified growing up in this day & age having people tell me that because I did that I must be secretly gay or transgender. I was a tomboy growing up. My mom blamed it on my dad. My mom forced me to wear ugly dresses and pants were comfortable. For the longest time i hated dresses. Now that I actually have a choice in what I wear I want to wear dresses more often. Im not going to say I had a gender identity issue, it wasnt an issue for me. I wanted to be a boy at 7 or 8. I told classmates I was a boy and to call me by a boy name. They all did for 2 years. Even the teachers. The only people who didnt know were my parents. My mom hated me in anything besides a dress, my dad let me wear anything I wanted, within reason. After those two years I stopped wanting to be a boy. If this stuff was going on when I was a kid, idk where I'd be right now. I didnt want to have kids until after I turned 18. Had one and now Im done, but I cant get my tubes tied at 29 because I might change my mind. If a woman at age 29 is told she cant get her tubes tied because she might change her mind then why cant children change their minds? I was accepted as trans when I was younger by my peers. I changed my mind and was still accepted. I cant even tell many people I have to interact with about that because they will call me a liar 😂 even though one of them is adamantly pushing "trust all women", but she wont trust me 🙄

Damn I really needed to hear this, because my entire life I've been labeled gay. I played with my sisters barbies, I played house with her and on my own, she played with dinos. I also loved music, books, and the arts rather than sports because they were more interesting to me as a kid. I also pursued a career in a field dominated by women, ie nursing, and I cannot tell you how many times people have assumed I was gay based on these things. I really wished society wouldn't label people who have a passion for something completely outside the norm for their gender just because it's not normally a guy or girl thing. You can be a guy who is interested in these things and still be hetero, like I still go out and garden, hike, and love the gym. People can have a diverse group of interests and not be homosexual and not be heterosexual. People are unique individuals but they want groupings for a reason because it's predictable

Mine just started and we make sure they don't have some woke teacher (easily distinguished from one who should be teaching) and when that day comes we would politely switch teachers or even schools. This subject (seemingly) is always on the cringe side of things. It make my stomach churn when little children are subjected to trendy pseudo science. I raised 2 boys and one girl. Eldest boy LOVED to dress up in my clothes and play in my makeup. I was all that he had, therefore was mimicking what he saw. I let him. He stopped on his own at around age 4. He is now a 32 year old grown man. I found it to be very emotional when my son came to me with watery eyes, after watching a debate about children and hormone blockers. He thanked me for not mutilating him. That reality of what’s happening to today’s children hurt my soul as I looked into my son’s eyes. He grew up to be a straight male who recently got married. My middle son, LOVED playing with dolls. I never stopped him. I didn’t push any narrative on him and let him be. He too is now married with a child. He grew up to be an amazing hands on Father who shares equal responsibility with his wife. My daughter went through a phase for a few weeks (at age 8) She wanted me to start calling her Brett as she dressed in her older brother’s clothes. I let her go to school like that. When her fun was over, she went back to being my little girl again. I even got to see them in concert a few years ago and it was amazing. I would have had a lot more respect for Hayley had she used her time to calmly explain why she disagreed with Desantis, instead of essentially telling some of her fans that she despises them and she doesn't want them there. It's so odd to me that this has become common place. I remember once upon a time when the Dixie Chicks came out on stage bad mouthing Bush. The blowback that they faced because of this was immense. They've even since changed their name and had to go through a whole rebranding. They still have yet to achieve the same heights of popularity they had experienced previously. As sad as it may be, I will be deleting all of Paramore's work from my playlists. I have numerous songs of theirs that I will always remember got me through I really difficult time in my life However, I'm tired of all the performers - actors/actresses, musicians/singers/songwriters, etc - who have been operating under the mentality that society actually CARES what their political leanings are and that they somehow should be seen as the authority in such matters. People need to start reaping the consequences of their actions and if they want to publicly say that people are "dead to" them all because of their political stance then so-be-it. They then need to suffer through loosing the income that those people provided them. Idk when it become the norm to think of others as bad or sub par human beings all because they may disagree with them, no matter what the disagreement is over. It used to be that, at the end of the day, these people were still you friends, your family and your neighbors. You would have your disagreements, debates and arguments and then after you'd shake or hug and share a drink. You'd agree to disagree and then you'd still go home as friends. These days it is no longer this way. If you disagree with someone now you are subject to swatting, on-line attacks on your character, harassment and even government involvement in your personal life. At the very LEAST these days you loose friends, at the worst both your freedom and own life are threatened. People start sending out hate wanting you to "un-alive yourself" and other such outrageous crap. Frankly I'm tired of it all, and that's why I'm glad that you called attention to Paramore. I don't want to support them anymore in anyway if that's how they want to talk about and treat what I would have to assume would be a decent size portion of their fan base. I AM ready to put my money where my mouth is and walk the walk. I'm ready to lead by example, if necessary, as it seems that while a growing number of the population is starting to feel the same, the vast majority isn't ready to do anything other than to keep discussing, or complaining and whining, about the state of the world. It's not going to ever stop unless we are willing to go through the work of taking control of the rhetoric.

When my son was very young, his favorite color was pink. I got him a pink t-shirt. He wore it occasionally until he outgrew it. When he became an adult on his own he got a pink-ish t shirt cuz he thought the color was awesome. He is married to a woman. Identifies as male, has 2 daughters and is an awesome Dad.
