@@thegoodthings2878 I never said he wasn't at fault for the breakup of his marriage and of course he did some grimy things. However she went overboard when she went on a tangent saying that he was a cross dresser and made her call him a wife in bed, and saying he was only into gay porn. Now she was justified in being mad but I do think there are personal things that married couples do behind closed doors that no matter the circumstances should be left behind closed doors. Especially if it deals with any element of sexuality. It's on a similar wavelength as nonconsensual release of nude images. Certain things should be left private between the parties involved and not for public to know, judge or ridicule.

I agree but their sound was close to grunge. Alternative was such a broad umbrella term that kept changing. I remember when REM, U2, and many European bands were alternatives. Bands like Blind Melon which was kind of hippie folky and gin Blossoms which was more of a pop band were also alternative.

This one isnt really grunge or punk. Grunge is literally a blend of alternative rock styles that were prominent in the Seattle area in the 1990s most exemplified by Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. There were a lot of other great bands in this genera like L7, Mother Love Bone, Green River, etc... Punk is a style that is also fairly varried with subgenres and eras there is the original Punk sounds of Iggy Pop and the Stooges, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Misfits, etc from the 70s and 80s eras and the resurgence that have occured in the later 80s through the 90s with bands like Green Day, Blink 182, Bad Religion, Rancid, etc... Bush would fall into the overall Alternative rock genera of the 90s.

Bush's frontman Galvin Rossdale was married for 13 years, and had three children with Gwen Stefani. The song you were reviewing came from there debut album called sixteen Stone; from 1994. Razor blade suitcase, (1996) and, The science of things (1999) are some other great sources for some outstanding tracks. Bush came at the cusp of what was considered grunge and post-grunge. Which post-grunge has a pejorative connotation being it's not considered as authentic or hard-hitting as the foundation of grunge. I personally love post-grunge music. Bands such as the foo fighters, Live, Creed, Collective soul, Silverchair, Candlebox, Matchbook twenty, are all great bands with great music also considered so-called "postgrunge", and worthy of consideration to review

Loved your reaction to this. Bush is amazing. I first saw them live with my future husband at Texas Motor Speedway, Rockfest, 1997. It was one of the largest crowds ever. He was dating Gwen from No Doubt at the time, and they were on the tour together with so many other bands. Matchbox Twenty being one of them that stands out. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Sadly, my husband passed way in April of 2019. Later that year in October 2019, I took our 19 year old son with me to see Bush/Marilyn Manson. It was so bittersweet and full circle feels. And of course, even 20 odd years later, Gavin Rossdale never ceases to amaze me. That show will also go down as one of the best I have ever seen. One of my favorite songs with an all time favorite memory of mine. I've seen Bush 5 times in concert. The 1st time was at Woodstock 99. I met the, HANDS DOWN, most attractive girl at the entire 250,000 person show while watching the Bush performance near the stage.. During this song, I literally had the prettiest girl at the whole weekend show on my shoulders. I literally DIDNT WANT TO COME DOWN FROM THIS CLOUD! After Bush we were going to go back to the reapective tents we were staying in to freshen up and then meet back up at the Rave hanger 11 pm. I was headed back to my campsite to change, and I got lost in an endless maze of tents and sat down under a tree to rest. Ended up falling asleep and didn't wake up until 4 AM. I spent all of the next two days looking for that girl but I never saw her again. She was somewhere from the Midwest. I was crushed. Side note. Check out the songs Glycerine, Machinehead, Everything Zen, and Little Things ( not to be confused with the equally great song Little Things by the band Good Charloette)- all singles from the incredible Bush album, the Sixteen Stone! Also Mouth and Chemicals Between Us by Bush.

"Grunge" is kind of a melding of punk and metal, with hints of blues and indy rock thrown in. It really grew out of the local music scene of Seattle during the late 80s/early 90s until just about every alternative rock band was imitating it. Just trying to help you guys put a finger on it because it's my favorite sub-genre of music.

It was definitely a pushback from what the music scene turned into in the later part of the 80s and early 90s which was tired ; arena Rock, big hair, toxic maleness and a carefree hedonism was the ingredients needed to put the hackneyed monster to bed

Bush is not "grunge". The music that came to be known as grunge (rock and punk fusion) originated out of the Pacific NW of the USA. Bush is a British band releasing music in the same time period that grunge hit. Bush would probably be classified as Rock.

Gavin Rossdale is lead singer they are from England. This song was on the movie Fear soundtrack. Others from them are mouth, glycerin, swallowed . They were grudge and carried it after the death of Kurt Cobain in my opinion. They kept the genre going for a while longer… Hearing this song takes me back to East Carolina University days for real. Great memories great time. This was played everywhere back then. Glad you enjoyed it. Actually this entire album is fire the album is sixteen stone.

If you like this vocal style you may as.well.listen to the fourth. You've listened to Kurt, Chris, and Gavin now try Scott. Please listen to Stone Temple Pilots or Velvet Revolver. Scott's voice is unmistakable and unforgettable once you've heard it like the other three. STP Creep or Wixked Garden are my suggested start. Jay may want to start with VR as Slash is part of that group.

I was always a bit disdainful of Bush when I first heard them. Until I saw them live in Stuttgart, Germany as part of The Blindman's Ball in '97. They went on right before Metallica and they absolutely kicked ass. Gavin came down into he crowd during the show and gave my (then) fiance a hug (among many others) and she swore she would never shower again. Thankfully she reneged on that promise.

Punk is usually faster and sloppier, but it has changed a bit over the years. Key punk bands include the Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Green Day, and Blink 182. Grunge especially applies to the Seattle Scene (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, etc) but grunge quickly was brought under the Alternative Rock label which was anything in the 90s that wasn’t pop, hip-hop, or country.

...its all kind of mirky ,Joe. Bush had a grunge sound, but grunge was kind of a Seattle thing. Bush is certainly not a "Punk"band. I think we called it "Alternative" at the time.No matter.Bush ruled the airwaves in the early 90s, and gave us a couple of great albums of original and new sounding music...it was a great time in music Joe...I wonder when they will get to "R.E.M." reactions, I have not heard any from these KZbin reactors...yet

Great reaction! one of my all time favourite bands from the 90's, I was in JR. High when this came out. Instantly fell madly in love with Gavin Rossdale. The british accent *swoon* Super surprised that you haven't done more reactions for them yet. Here are a few suggestions if you want to step back into the 90's grunge vibe with Bush. (Used to be known as Bush-X in Canada because there was already a band with that name, that no one had heard of so we always just called them Bush) From their first Album Sixteen Stone Everything Zen Little Things Glycerine Alien (My favourite Bush song of all time, super haunting) From their second album Razorblade Suitcase Greedy Fly Swallowed Mouth Straight No Chaser Bone Driven Other notable songs Flowers On a Grave Bullet Holes The Chemicals Between Us Letting The Cables Sleep Yay! and thanks again for reacting to this awesome band, its so fun to watch this journey you're on.

Some of my absolute fave grunge songs from the 90's are ... Limblifter's - Tinfoil ..... Moist's - Push or Silver or Resurrection! All are great! Age Of Electric - Remote Control Oh and Holly Mcnarland - Numb or Elmo or Coward! Varuca Salt - Volcano Girls & Seether Also .. Hole - Celebrity Skin (All 3 bands good for Female Fridays!) Let's not forget Radiohead - Creep if you have not done that one yet?? Our Lady Peace - Superman's Dead or Somewhere Out There or Innocent. Lastly The Smashing Pumpkins - 1979 or Bullet with Butterfly Wings. On a closing note.... Holly Mcnarland does the best female grunge era version of Phil Collin's In The Air Tonight and it's so fixatingly beautiful... I swear to you.. and has a haunting grit!!! I saw her perform it live and it was so magical and chill in a gritty way... kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4jWlZWAraymd5Y
