Cafe penalties, The penalties for model years 2019-2021 increased from $5.50 to $14 for every 0.1 mpg that new vehicles fail to meet, multiplied by the number of new vehicles sold that do not meet the standards. I paid 24k for my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 in October 1997 when they first came out. Ford and Chevy had the pathetic 3 door trucks. My Ram had zero problems in the 20 years that I owned it. Old school 360 aka 5.9 L for you metric sissies and a manual transfer case. I kept the OD off on the transmission as it really bogged down the truck and there were potential issues with it. I used the OD on the highway to go from 15 to 16 mpgs. My 2005 Hemi Magnum has been rock solid as far as the transmission and engine are concerned. It's almost 20 years old. It was made in the Brampton plant in Ontario where you live and don't sound southern. It's birthday is October 19. I love it. I keep MDS off. Never has used oil or broken down aside from when the aaaaahole who did the coolant change at the mopar stealership didn;t connects the upper radiator hose right and it came off. I had the gas tank recall and the air bag recall. Not bad. I've owned it since Feb 2008. I''ve had minor things go out like a wheel speed sensor and the famous transmission shifter interlock plastic lock piece break which I replaced with a metal one and the ignition switch acted up. Both parts under 30 bucks and I did the work. Easy. I can fix most things on the car with an 8 mm, 10 mm, and a Philips head screwdriver. I like your videos

Basic economics says they will reduce prices or go out of business or both. What we are seeing is high prices confounded by high money rates. Nevertheless the market will clear eventually. Bought the Mach-e 5 months ago on “close out”. Once the government stopped subsidizing, they piled up, then had drastic price reductions.

When it comes to Big 3 before you buy a new truck go to that brands dealership parts counter and ask the parts guy what parts they, the dealership, keep in stock for warranty replacement work on their brand. Guess what?? You’ll be floored They will give you a list a mile long of parts that will most likely prematurely fail. They all have changed up a lot of their parts suppliers. I’m talking about some suppliers that were supplying big 3 manufactures for 100 + years thrown to the curb for a China made knockoff part. This is why I have nothing but Honda in my garage never again will I buy a big 3 truck. I’ve been screwed over too many times to count with premature costly parts failure that happened right after my warranty ran out, Screw you all!!

Just like real estate going through corrections, the auto industry is next. Sure, hold off imports while getting them to manufacture here with US workers. If foreign companies can do it, we need to follow their lead and learn to compete or else; It's greed running themselves into the ground and they deserve it.

There's only one thing that takes a car company down, that's debt and all of them are loaded up on debt

This is all the result of people buying trucks for "business." 40 years ago, a "work truck" was made for hauling stuff, maybe going around the farm or ranch. It wasn't a status symbol. The fact that people can write them off as a business expense means that for years now, cost was no object really. Leather interior, luxury was never the purpose of a work truck. That's why regular people can't buy these anymore. When I first started buying trucks, a truck was an economical alternative to a car! Now? The trucks cost more than the cars! I don't think you can rule out the role of dealers either. If the manufacturer sees the dealer selling for $10K over sticker, what message does that send? It tells them they're leaving money on the table! So, they raise prices! If you're working at Stelantis and you see the trucks you helped build selling for $100K and you haven't had a raise in 5 years? Then you're going to think you deserve some of that! It's a vicious circle. Now, what would help is if these people buying trucks for "work" were a little more diligent about price when buying their work truck. 😢

the high cost of union labor ,drive up prices, and high interest rates, and if Harris and Tim Walz win election we may go into a depression and may not be able to make the payments, so people are holding off .
