He wouldn't have stayed in that cold shelter because he was going to be put down. And he actually had more years down the road so it would have been so tragic to euthanize him but many dogs and cats were not as lucky as Butchy. I'm glad he was rescued and lived a full life.

Such a sweet soul. My American Eskimo loved the water too, because he was hot all the time in Texas. I would randomly find him standing in the bathtub or shower waiting for me to turn on the water. I could leave the water hose running on the patio and he'd go lie spread Eagle on the end of the hose to soak up the cool water. Their such silly fur babies.

Good on this woman for seeking the most "unadoptable" dog in the shelter. It seems he also came with the biggest (fluffiest) heart! The way she was talking about him in past tense, I knew how the story goes (as it always does). Personally, I enjoyed life with four adopted dogs, three of whom lived to 15/16, so I know what she means. RIP, Butchy 💕🐾🌈

Its been a few decades since I have loss my Toby, Duchess, Duke, Angel, and Night. But, I can say that a year does not go by when I don't remember wrestling with them. Toby was my guardian when I lived at my aunty and uncle's home when I was a baby. Duchess having her puppies on my pillow while I slept on it (and no, she was aware enough to not get any thing on me. And Duke and his beloved deflated soccerball Chester (which he kept until it was a small slither of rubber and we had to say good by to it. Angel my little speed demon, who got her name because when I found her as a puppy, the first thing she did was nip my fingers. And though Night did not stay with us long (he killed my aunty's kitten when she accidently got out of the house), but I still loved him and missed walking with him, he was a pit bull that I believe escaped his owner or was abandoned and may have been treated as a fighting dog, so I don't blame him for acting on how he was possibly raised. And not just the dogs. But, Smokey, Sam, Flopsy and Mopsy, Patches (1 & 2), Tiger the cats that were in my life. Frenzy my hamster. Freddie the frog.

But we touch them anyway and he has a blast trying to get them back. He also loves to swim in a creeek near our house. Chases every stick we thrown in the water. We have to take treats and sometimes cheese slices just to get him out of the water. Hats off to you for seeing beyond the growl to knowing they are just talking in their own way. 👍
