It's cool that if a yarn we loved has been discontinued, we can still find either an exact dupe or something really similar at ICE :) I never heard of ICE yarns before I found your channel. When I was a kid and I'd go grocery shopping with my mom the "generic" brands always fascinated me. I remember thinking it's so funny the coffee or peanut butter would be the exact same containers but different labels.... awhile ago I read an article about yarn production in turkey, and how a really high percentage of all yarn is manufactured in the same facility and it reminded me back to when I was a kid. This is so fun! I definitely enjoyed this video I'd love if you made it a series ❤

As someone that has worked in food manufacturing and manufacturing in general since 2006, I can tell you most generic brands are in the same facilities with the same machines and ingredients as the name brands a lot of the time.😅

Hi Judy, you can buy Mandala cakes from many online Stores. For example pleta in Bulgaria. The yarn has a different name but weight and yards is the same. And very inexpensive.

The Yarny Sherlock Holmes! This video is so fun! I don't think any other yarn fanatic does this! So fun! I've seen ice yarn's website and they don't have large photos of their yarns. You have to gain the knowledge from the descriptions, the fiber content, the weight etc. I know that takes a lot of time and energy but I appreciate all your hard work.

OMGoodness Crystal, I enjoyed this video to the fullest. I was looking for something to match with with LB Ice Cream Deluxe yarn which has been discontinued for a while and found the exact at ICE called Cakes Chenille Baby even the colors I wanted. Only difference is two yards less.

I haven't stoped thinking about what you said in another video about yarn companies having almost exact the same yarns. I have been hunting a yarn from Hobbii for month's now and they don't seem to be restocking it at the moment and went on a hunt outside of Hobbii. Found a very similar one at Mary Maxim that I ordered and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be as similar as I need it to be since I am working on a comission for a friend.
