The first Rap song ever to chart was her song “Rapture” which was the second single off the project and became a huge commercial success. The single spent two weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 and was the first number one hit in music history to feature rap vocals

This band was fire. She was a Star, capital "S", and the band was underrated. Their songs were well-written, top-notch producing, and impeccably executed. I still have a crush on her, from about 1982. She was a force of nature, and the band rocked, or was smooth, whatever they needed, they were REALLY good. And this is definitely disco. This band went a lot of places with their music. Disco, rap, pop, rock ,new-wave, punk..... Amazing, but she was out of this world. What a talent. After starring with her in the movie, "Videodrome", James Woods said that she would have been an Superstar actress, if that was what she wanted to do. What a voice! Top 5 Iconic women rock or punk voices all time. I could give my 5 if asked. Okay, now that you've asked, 1) Amy Lee, 2) Ann Wilson, 3) Floor Jansen, 4)Stevie Nicks, 5) Debbie Harry

This song was actually a last-minute thought to finish the album. It was based on a song they had been playing around with for years, but never felt they could get quite right. Much of the musical direction was provided by Mike Chapman, the producer. However, the vocal style was Debbie's idea. She surprised the whole band when she started singing in a higher register, and the rest is history.

She did NOT just sing Rapture She was the FIRST RAPPER ever to have a number 1 rap hit in HISTORY. NOT Sugarhill Gang. She is also the first one to put a rap video on MTV when MTV was a rock channel. Rapture. She also sang at COACHELLA 2023 and still tours and is beautiful at 79. No joke. They were a punk rock band first. Blondie still tours quite often. She use to live in a walk up tenament in the East Village NYC while doing shows and touring at the time this video was made. The East Village was where all the punk rockers lived up until the mid to late 90s. I cant remember anymore but think she lived on 7th st by Ave B? Regardless, I use to see her often. Blondie was voted the most beautiful woman in the world in the 70's by Vogue(?) or whichever magazine. Blondie escaped a serial killer once giving her a ride by jumping out of his car at a red light. She also is one of the first girls to set the hairstyle trend that you see everywhere today (mixed colors half blonde half black hairstyle and the shag cut) and yes that is Studio 54. Best club EVER!!! She also modeled and has a lot of shockingly gorgeous photos if you type Blondie Images and even nude. She was and still is confident and is extremely smart with a high I.Q.. She is streetwise (you had to be living in the Village back then) and daring. Blondie is the Queen. Period. Her style her swag her music her hair her clothing her makeup so many try to mimic as I type this today and it's her image that is used as the palet. Literally. You will see Blondie photos in salons, boutiques and on walls everywhere here in NY and across the globe. Blondie is a trendsetter. Shes a beast.

They started out early in the NY Punk scene, turned disco because it was commercially viable, and punk fans didn't pay (they'd rip off bands at Live performances, and not buy any products). They were Pop, New Wave, Rap, etc., but kept their Punk edge. Debra Harry had a helluva voice --> SHAYLA, MARIA, FLIGHT 45 (bermuda triangle blues), DREAMING, etc. and they had a great performance of RING OF FIRE in Meat Loaf's 1980 film "Roadie". You should like Tears For Fears with such music videos as EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD, HEAD OVER HEELS and MAD WORLD.

This really is not the typical blondie sound. they went with the disco phase pretty hard in the later 70's. hell, even the stones put out a disco album (look it up). if you listen to some of the songs on "parallel lines", (like sunday girl, or fade away and radiate) you would get a better understanding of what they are musically, and style wise. this wasn't their new wave, or punk phase. this band transitioned towards the money. parallel lines is one of the finest albums as a whole of its time.
