I love this song. My one criticism is that her singing is very low volume and hard to hear. The sound engineering could use some improvement.

I discovered the Cranberries from the Real World 3 (San Francisco) in the early 90s. It was one the songs they played and I needed to find out who sang it. Back then Google didn't exist. Finally I found it and discovered them. Delores' voice is like no other.

This is one of their oldest tunes. They were playing it at least two years before they put out their first album in '93. R.I.P. Delores O'Riordan♥

Spot on Corey! The video was filmed in the genre of “film noir”. The older guy in the hat, flashlight and camera is a private detective hired by the girl to find out who her boyfriend is cheating with. It was one of the first songs the band completed after Delores joined, when they were just in their late teens. It's a tale of love, deceit and the lingering feelings of desire for an impossible relationship, an impossible situation, and an impossible partner who broke the contract of love.

I frickin' love this channel. Rap, Punk, R&B, Opera etc. are just labels. Good music is good music. If it's made well, sung well it's good. Simple as that. Here are some suggestions gentlemen. Opera: Queen of the Night Aria - Sung by Diana Damrau. Or O Helga Natt - sung by Jussi Bjorling Country: Anything by Sons of the Pioneers but especially Tumbling Tumbleweeds, Water and "The Searchers" theme. Classical: Rhapsody on a Theme - Rachmaninoff composer. Jazz (specifically Japanese Jazz): Breeze - By Jiiro Inagaki & Soul Media. (It's an instrumental so no worries about trying to figure out what they are saying.

This was the first import cd I ever bought. Lots of great tracks on it. And then months later it was in heavy rotation. You could EASILY see someone today sampling a section of this gem and have it meander lightly in the background. Not so much like Dido's "Thank you" but y'now... Also, I completely agree with what you said about the video. Back then videos were the biggest if not the main way to market a band. SO MANY bands I would feel sorry for because the vid just showed them in such a tight 'niche' and so many people would never look twice at bands like that.
@jimiewilliams76233 ай бұрын
The video was sweet. he concept was cooler than the other side of my pillow. I doubt that the video hurt the song. They were, after all, competing with artists such as Prince and Mariah Carey.

It's funny to hear this was "their first major hit' just because it charted on the Billboard chart. Frankly, Zombie is recognised as their greatest song in the rest of the world. And I think the rest of the world is slightly larger than the US. Not to say this isn't a great song. It is.

What a sensation she was. Dolores O'Riordan. Much like Amy Winehouse, Dolores would die at the very young age of 46 from drowning due to alcohol intoxication in January 2018. So sad. Her depression got the best of her like it does all of us. Her beautiful voice lives on.
