When we do proper meal planning, my frig is almost empty at the end of the week. With gas prices, we have been stretching it to buying groceries every 10 days. First, we used fresh protein, fruits and vegetables, then frozen towards the end of the grocery cycle. Planning really is key. Great video!

I clean my refrigerator the night before trash day. I always plan using leftovers first ...Putting those items in a container that says "Eat Me First"...lol I also check the big freezer and pantry on the same day. It's so helpful.

I am a costco shopper so I use a food saver which I use to vacuum seal meats and cheese. It is great for portioning out the servings, which as you said cuts down on wasted food. With the high price of food I think it is even more important than every to stay organized and not waste any food. Thanks for all the great tips. My best organizing tip for the fridge is; be the only one that goes in there!!! 😆😆😆 My husband works away from home on a rotational schedule, away for 20 days-home for 14. There is some serious difference in anything organized when he is home. I joked one time and said I was going to label where everything went like I did when the kids were young. He surprised me by saying, that’s a great idea baby!!! 😂 And Leo!!! Can’t really be that upset, he looked, he smelled and thought what a beautiful gift mom. And proceeded to eat it!! 😆 too cute.

Good motivation to clean and organize our refrigerators! Great tips to use liners and lazy susans. I always enjoy your videos and learn tips and tricks. Thank you for sharing them! I know they take time to produce. I look forward to seeing them and they helped me declutter my home last year and to maintain it now. Thank you so much!With the cost of food so high I am struggling with the thought of throwing away food. The dates on food are sell by dates or best use dates and they do not indicate that the food is spoiled or expired. The Food Safety and Inspection Service USDA government website has a great explanation of these terms. So why do we feel that we should throw away food products that are not spoiled? I am curious how many of us throw away food based on the best use date or sell date? I am not trying to be critical. I am just overwhelmed by rising food costs and need to keep my food expenses lower. I would love some more ideas on how to cut expenses.

I agree with you, Colleen! It’s the same with medications! A doctor once told me that expired medicine isn’t dangerous. It just might not be as effective. One struggle I have is my kids watch those food exp. dates and won’t eat something past the date. So it I won’t eat it, it will go to waste. I also find that buying a larger size isn’t often cheaper even if the unit price is lower because we won’t use it fast enough! Thanks so much for being here and for chatting with me! I do the "meat in the casserole dish" trick too. It sure does save from bloody messes. I'm going to have to get more intense ib purchasing specific refrigerator bins that actually fit into spaces. Thanks for the inspiration.

I love using paper towels or muslin cloth for fruits and veggies that do not need moisture…tho the cloth washable ones look amazing that you use! I know you have shared them before! Watching while I sort kiddos laundry. Thanks for the visit Karen!

The lazy Susan's are such a great idea! I also have a bunch of condiments. I recently got the idea from my mom to use a lazy Susan for my spices and medicines since they are in a cabinet high above my stove, but I never thought of the fridge! Genius ❤ I also love the egg holder too! Sliding them open would be so much easier than opening the cartons to grab 1 or 2 😀

Hello my lovely friend. Great tips there for refrigerator storage, I keep my raw meat in a plastic container but I’m looking for a glass one that will fit the purpose, I feel with glass you can really get it clean. I hadn’t realised the top of the fridge was slightly warmer so I’ll be having a move around in there tomorrow. I love those lazy Susan’s, I’ve got one for a worktop but not the fridge, it’s a very good idea. I’ve seen them in your fridge before but I always forget to keep a look out when I go shopping🤦🏼‍♀️ Naughty Leo! It’s a good job he’s so cute isn’t it. It´s so satisfying to see a nicely organized fridge. Here in Germany we have much smaller fridges (at least most of us) so organizing is key. I´m a meal plan - and since my kids are gone - prep girl. So tomorrow my fridge will be stocked with all the meals I am going to have next week. And comes friday it´s basically empty. 😂 But it helps me so much not eating junk when I´m hungry after work. Great video today. I used your affiliate link to order those liners. It will make it much easier to keep the shelves clean. My tip: I do a quick refrigerator clean every trash day. I dispose of what I need to, and freeze the limp veggies for making stock and the mushy fruit for smoothies. It's help me reduce food waste.

Tonight is leftover chili night using wraps ,adding a bit of salad and cheese to use up. My Food Saver is key for portion control in the meal plans. I just went through my linen closet this morning, since I gave a good amount to the son in DC. So I needed to restore the shelves to good order. I am so pleased with the results. Cleaning the winter duvets and covers on on my to do list this week. Meat is in my lowest drawer, then dairy, then veg in the humidity control drawer. We have a medications drawer, with additional bins for condiments. I leave space for already prepared food on a shelf.

Great tips and storage ideas! I use storage bins for loose fruits & vegs, eggs, etc… also. Hubby says our fridge looks like we need to buy groceries most of the time now cause it’s so organized it takes up less space. 😁 We do not keep a lot of condiments or sauces on hand anymore so it all fits nicely in the door shelves along with milk, Diet Dr Peppers, heavy cream and butter. I do not cook as much at a time now cause we do not eat the same as we used to, still have leftovers but I try to limit it to one or two additional servings. Thank you for sharing today. I use trays that i found at Diaso and they slide in and out for the bottom area where there is not alot of room. I find that bins and trays work best for us as we have a smaller apt Fridge and the issue is size. The lazy susans would take up too much room so as you suggest to always measure and some things work and others were fails. Once you figure out a system then it is easier to manage the fridge and thanks for sharing your ideas with us todayl

I have three shelves in my fridge, so I separate my food by meal: prepped ingredients for breakfast go on the top shelf (with some large canisters of flours behind them), lunch in the middle, and dinner on the bottom. Unprepped ingredients go in the freezer or crisper drawers. I keep some salad toppings and condiments on the door, but they're used up well before expiration date. The shelves are usually empty by the time I restock. One note about eggs: If you're going to transfer eggs to storage containers, be sure to keep the pointed ends facing down, as they were in their original carton. There's a scientific reason for this; it helps prevent bacterial growth.
