NASCAR Wants Your Track Videos Gone

Today I talk about my disputes with NASCAR over videos that I filmed entirely myself at private events that they claim are infringing on their rights and that they are entitled to all revenue made on my videos. If you also have this problem and need help resolving the issue I will try to help.

I quit following NASCAR when factory parts disappeared completely from their race cars, without even a vestigial metal stamping. That was many years ago, so it’s really hard for me to boycott the SOBs. Their grubby fingers are in all sorts of stuff, so there’s still opportunities to walk away.

Glad you are standing up to these bullies and helping others do so. People need to start boycotting NASCAR until they get the message. The onus should be on NASCAR to prove beyond doubt any claims they make and people should not have to waste their own time and suffer the stress of having to defend themselves against such empty claims.

Haven't watched NASCAR Cup races in years. Only NASCAR racing I follow is at the local level and NASCAR doesn't care about a thing at the local level except for the income.

Its not hard to see, they should be worried about antitrust laws... With them buying up the tracks they run on, & boycotting the rest, & Infringing on documenting a day, in public view (not like the tracks are domes, lol!). And then, for tracks & cars that have no resemblance to their product. Its all about greed, what a shame. Hope it all goes well, & Thanx for the info!!

Would demonetizing your selected NASCAR videos stop the corporation taking monies made on You Tube? I follow a few channels that are permanently demonetized ,to not show bias (Gun Channels).

No a copyright strike happens irregardless of it your video is monetized and if you are hit with a bunch of copyright strikes you can even lose your channel completely as they think your channel is made of reposted stolen content. (Also copyright strikes could take down your video completely or make it only viewable in certain countries.)

I have heard recently of people also copyrighting other peoples music and taking all the revenue from anyone using it even though they don't actually own the rights.

No they are copyrighting any video that has sounds from inside a car on a track. The cars in my videos don't sound the same as a NASCAR and I assume I am not running the same lap time and shifting at the same places but they still think it is their in car video. I am assuming they will eventually have in car videos flagged for copyright violations.

@@ThisWeekWithCars I can understand if you're on a Nascar owned track. Okay, I get that. But on an independent track, running amateur/vintage races? Nascar can go pound sand! You're running cars that would, if anything, be governed by the SCCA. I can imagine the reaction Nascar would get, here in Canada, if they started messing with vintage racers. It wouldn't be polite. 😁

Nascar is an embarrassment to this country and racing in general... Not turning both directions in a race is silly. Trying to maintain some resemblance to a "family car" reduces car handling and thus safety and the quality of the product.. The United States, on a global scale, are considered complete JOKES in racing.. We are historically BAD drivers. Its not even a funny meme anymore. WE have become pathetic...

He's at Road America. They also race at The Glen and several street circuits. I think there are other things more embarrassing. I'm guessing YOU are not one of those bad drivers though.
