I have that kit too, and I really love it! There is some misstriggering sometimes (so I wouldn't use it for live performances), but it's really great for the price. I'd suggest buying a vst (I use ezdrummer) and use the kit as a midi controller. You'll get phenomenal sounds, which are almost like an acoustic drumset :)
@matyastorok4 жыл бұрын
I have this kit, it gets a lot of bad review, I must disagree with many of them, I have had an Alesis dm6 and it was way louder, I kept going back to a drum shop to try all the ekits they had on display, I would rather have my Millenium 850 that I can set up to the dimensions of a real kit, rather than play a beginner to mid range Roland or Yamaha, as those are usually smaller, I am 191cm /6'3" and this kit is very comfortable for me to play, also Roland mesh heads (prob not the high end stuff) are very very bouncy, you can't adjust the mesh heads tension, on these you can, so on the floor Tom's and bass drum I keep them looser to get a more realistic feel! The built in sounds are totally fine and tweak able, (besides you won't be switching them constantly, I use 3 kits in total, also good earphones go a long way, use silicon earbuds that naturally isolate the outside noise, on top of that I have protective ear mufflers builders use) all the cymbals are dual zone and the ride has 3, I love the real hi hat (wish it had more range but it's quite good, on, off, splash and since the hi hats edge is a zone in itself, hitting it increasingly harder as you open the hats does sound like you are opening real hi hats. Re noise, I have a thick carpet and right under the pedals I have a thick foamy yoga mat, if you live in a new build with fake walls and wooden beams the vibrations are hard to stop, my girlfriend still complains, I use the same sticks I use on a real kit, they are carbon and won't get splintered, but they are heavier than the sticks Thomann give you, make sure your wooden sticks are in good condition and not chipped else the mesh heads will suffer, as for the bass drum beater, use the plastic side, not the felt, apparently the friction felt creates eats away the mesh head. Also singly ply mesh heads are more bouncy, haven't tried but might get a set of 3 ply, see how the triggering is affected, they may make the kit a bit louder but more realistic. As for the drum beater, not for the noise but more for making the mesh head feel more realistic, try adding a piece of foam (sponge) to the plastic side with superglue, it helps avoiding unwanted ghost notes or try the Kat Percussion tennis ball beater, Gibraltar sells the same cheaper. I have tried both of the sponge and the tennis ball beater and the sponge worked better but looks funny. If you don't want to build a stand for the kit like he did, Roland make these small boards especially made for pedals (noise eaters they are called I think) they are expensive (70 euros ca.?) but I read they are really good, other option would be those fancy pedals that have no beater but they do have the feel of a real pedal, expensive though but supposed to be great. Also there are drumsticks made out of bamboo, super light but also freaking durable and they don't chip easily, for the long run. To reduce the noise on the cymbals, when you crash, use a sweeping motion slightly to the side/edge of the cymbal and aim for the edge with the shaft of the stick 1. Its better for your real cymbals too 2. The edge of the cymbal has thicker rubber and produces less noise. A lot of these can also be applied to any other ekit, I had my 850 for ca 2 years and had to do no repairs, I think they are extremely good for the price, everyone is so uptight about sound quality of these cheaper kits. Vs Roland but I'm reality no one really records the built in sounds, and if for your everyday enjoyment you really want better sound, you will use a daw or a vst, I tried ableton and the kits sound better than most high end kits anyway.

I JUST unpacked my new set last evening, this is a better kit than the Roland TD27 they (GC) was trying to sell me for $1499. I couldn't believe how much research I had to do to be comfortable buying an E-Drum kit. There are ZERO regrets in buying this kit. This kit is ONE THIRD the cost of the Roland and offers more (The Roland came without a Kick pedal, hi-hat stand or throne)

Hi Simon, hi guys! Since xmas '19 I (m, 39, germany) got the Millenium MPS-850. :-) I have learned its extually an Alesis kit. My wife proposed such a kit for our kids. I said: Awwww, edrums suck!!! Especially for metal!!! UNTIL I got the idea on KZbin to use a VST setup. Yeah. That s so much fun, dude. I love it. And the nice thing is, it sounds like an expansive kit. I'm using EZDrummer2 with several extensions. From "DarkMatter" to "Progressive". For the MIDI remapping I'm using Plogue Bidule. But there should be some free MIDI tools. For more Cymbals I ordered a AudioFront eDRUMin Trigger to MIDI interface. It's a great device. Befor having this eDRUMin, I splitted the Tom3 and Tom4 head and rim trigger, and connected those Millenium mono cymbal pads. I like cymbals. See link. And i want it to be like on my acoustic set. I wont spent 3k for trigger2midi interface. But now it sounds like an expensive kit. I "playes" on Mapex, Gretsch, DW, Pearl, Tama, Sonor Snares, Toms ... YEAH! On my "real" kit I got a 70€ Pearl Export or somthing! *hahaha* Great! I like very much the combination of note and volts! NOW I am a eDrum fan!!! So, if you got a notebook, an ASIO compatible audiointerface grab that kit. Of course the sounds of the module a also usable! A lot a fun! Greetings, keep on rockin'!!! But the Hi-Hat has almost stopped giving sound now, and I replaced the kickdrum pedal just like 6 months ago, so they certainly are worth their retirement. Anyways, I really hope these will do for now! Think I'll invest in this EZ drummer everyone talks about. I am a hobbyist drummer. However, due to the environmental conditions I am in, it is not possible for me to play acoustic drums without disturbing my neighbours. In this regard, an electronic drum set is just what I need. I used to have an e-drum set of a well-known brand name but I was not very happy with its rubber pads. The Millenium MPS-850 with two-zone drum pads with mesh heads, two- and three zone cymbal pads, 12" hi-hat pads on tripod playable by way of a conventional pedal, and a kick pad with foot pedal which bring the lucky drummer very close to the playing feel of an acoustic drum kit, while also being relatively quiet would be an ideal practice drum set for me to use in my room. I find the sound of this e-drum set and the its module with 100 play-along songs fantastic. I will be more than happy to have one to sharpen my drumming skills at home.

hopefully someone from Thomann will chime in, but provided the connections are the same on other brands parts (1/4" phono plugs) I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. With that said, you can very easily USB midi this thing to a computer and use something like Kontact and one of the numerous drum samplers (GetGood, Toontracks, etc) and get near unlimited sounds. So I'm not sure you'd really even need to upgrade the brain itself.
