Ah I remember this fight. One of the worst robberies I have ever encountered. Thomas Hearns clearly won this one no doubt. Although competitive, It was somewhat one sided due to the knockdowns. That should've surely given Hearns the win easily. Even the crowd and spectators at the fight chanted "b#llshit" when the decision was made. How any judge gave the fight to Leonard is bizarre to me. Btw, I scored it 115-111 to Hearns

the first two rounds I hardly give them to any fighters (since no significant damage was made) the 5th round was a 10-8 for Leonard but I disagreed with the judge who scored the 12th a 10-8 Leonard. There were a lot of decisive rounds for each fighters but more indeed in favor of Hearns. I guess because Leonard could turn the fight around anytime and was dangerous at all times might have given him an edge in some rounds to one of the judges. Great fight!

Sin quitar que que junto a los otros 3 grandes fue un grqn boxeador, pero contra hears 3n la primera pelea, perdía claramente, y el juez detiene la pelea faltando un minuto para que terminará, eso fue un robo!, en la segunda contra hears le dieron en el empate, donde también perdió claramente, contra hagler, otra pelea muy discutida, sin claridad en nada para declararlo ganador, contra Durán en la primera ya todos sabemos y en la segunda fue una victoria clara ante el desgano de Durán. Hagler les ganó a todos en sus peleas. Lo de ellos en conjunto es lo mejor de la historia del boxeo

There was this hispanic kid, who was getting rough during sparring with Tommy here at Top Level gym, he was swinging as hard as he could. Stupidest damn thing I ever saw, it's like he thought he was going to upstage Tommy in front of everyone, and Tommy knocked him out of the ring and he came up pulling teeth out of his mouth. I am sure he regretted it. Tommy hit him really hard in the mouth, you don't mess with a guy like Tommy during sparring. lol.

One of the most memorable fights of the 80's when the middleweight kings were dominating the headlines. Hagler, Hearns, Leonard, Duran. Tommy won the rematch even though the judges had it a draw. The great champion that Leonard was even admitted to it later on, just like Ali admitted years later that Norton won the 3rd fight.

So many Leonard haters on here, but to be fair I thought Ray Leonard showed what a tough competitor he was! Yes Hearns had the two knockdowns ( though the second was more down to sheer fatigue than anything else?) but the way Leonard fought back, and especially at the end, he was all over Hearns , and indeed Tommy was very fortunate to have been still standing up right!! So all in all, I think a Draw was the fair result here…..but unfortunately some people just like to hate Ray Leonard???

As much as I consider Hears to be the best boxer ever...you can see here that he left the door open for a Ray comeback, twice he had Sugar defeated and I'm sure he was enjoying so much the fight that he left him alive to keep the joy coming. Leonard is such hard-to-kill guy...he nearly won the match at the end. I found it overall level and the resulting tie is reasonable attending to what was offered in the ring. But the one who "lost" a sure win was Tommy that nearly KO'd Ray... he did not care much about finishing the job, nor keeping at bay his opponent. Never refusing the close contact, where Ray is a master. That's the Brave boxer I love...spectacular fight...but he should had kept the distance and ducked some hard hits to get a clean win. I see two winners: one, both boxers and two, we the viewers.

Yes years ago I did see an interview where he admitted Tommy kicked his butt in this fight and won. I guess after all those years of knowing he lost got to him.

Hearns can be vicious and brutal. Punished Leonard hardcore and the fight was clearly his. Leonard, although is tough, is usually favoured when he was clearly outdone. Saw this with the Hagler fight as well.
