Hi Thomas, it's all very well to explain why one type of fibre is 'better' than another, so I'm grateful for that. However, it would also be nice to be told which foods contain most of which type of fibre. Because I am at a loss now!
@gabnielsen
@gabnielsen 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can see why :) but an easy way to tell (other than experience) is when you cook food I.e oats, they will swell up and absorb water as well as oat bran, on the other hand if u cook bulgur (basically Whole wheat) it will keep its structure due to its insoluble Fiber, also with fruit, the skin doesn’t absorb water, but the Fiber in the flesh is obviously soluble as it’s retained in a solution of water :) hope this helps

@@margrose5 yeah but its very misleading some put apples kn the insoluble category, some in the soluble, same woth wheat and nuts etc…. Although a sort of reliable source, or just a good sort of sheet to go off of to get the basic idea is by googling “insoluble , solible fiber ratio chart list” find a pdf that has the foods you had in mind, keep in mind tho that 99% of foods contain both inspluble and soluble fibers its just a matter of which type of fiber is most present and thats hos people categories it. And again experience helps, since soluble fiver causes a lot of gas and insoluble cause firm stool XD Ok ill shut up lol You get what i mean, also by looking at bow food interact with water of course :)

Here's some advice if you're looking for answers after this video! If you're having that issue you might want to add magnesium citrate to your night routine just don't forget that magnesium and calcium compete for each other so you want to find a good balance with them study it. And make sure you get enough fiber in the day and seriously up your water intake no joke! I bought myself a 32 oz bubba cup that if I drink four of those in a day I'm good to go 128 oz = gallon! Having something like that that you can carry around and easily refill really keeps you on track, it makes drinking water not such a task or overwhelming, and it has a nice rubber straw so it's easy to clean and it's very simple just to slurp it right down and realize once you get three in a 24 hour period you've already hit your water Max, but if you really want to go further four fills of a Bubba cup its a gallon. You can also get soluble fiber to add to your water what you won't taste or see or feel. I personally make my own little drinks and supplements here at my house and sometimes I will sprinkle just a few flakes of psyllium husk into my water and it'll float down to the bottom and become musogenic, but I won't taste it and it's barely there I'm not even thinking about it cuz it's not like a full dose of psyllium husk it's just little bits that I sip on all day. And of course you can add your favorite flavoring to the water or just drink it normal or do lemon, I do take a stool softener half a dose before bed (colace). Another thing you will really love and will change your life is learn and study how you did for keto, but about incorporating "Sole water" to your life! Not only will you never have the keto flu ever again, you control how much you are hydrating yourself with this mineral rich water of 83 minerals, you can add it to everything just don't overdo it or you will be in the bathroom for a couple days but not constipated! You just have a little bit at night and a little bit in the morning with your tea or you can make your own Gatorade out of it with stevia. I'm telling you all these little hacks I've learned over over a decade of doing keto! Another thing if you're not too sensitive is you can add Ginger to your diet, there are capsules you can get from nature's bounty and all those other brands just don't overdo it, it'll give you the runs. You got to find your tolerance level with all of these things and then if you take something and you get diarrhea then back up about 1/3 dose of what you gave yourself and you should be able to tolerate at that point. Here check this out here's something you'll totally love!! I love using these fiber foods to make keto flat bread, and crackers!!!! EPIC! Mix with flaxseed, psyllium husk milled, or whole, chia and pepitas! Mmmmm season savory or sweet, Spray with MCT and Olive oil before seasoning, and use to make tacos, wraps, crackers, and so on, dip in cream cheese with herbs! I'm insulin resistant and have no problems with these and the husk. Flaxers crackers and psyllium flat bread are awesome, and you can really get creative. Even make taco shells! BOOOM! And last but not least prebiotics we don't break them down very well like asparagus for instance like the lower part that we snap off and throw away it's actually kind of good to chew on those and if you can get it down get it down it's going to give you some roughage to get stuff moving! So if you also look up lacto fermentation you can ferment in a brine and season if you'd like to different types of prebiotic vegetables and you'll be able to eat them with your meals and get not only the prebiotics but for the probiotics from the lacto fermentation! I've been doing this a long time and let me tell you it's so much fun! If you have any questions hit me back I don't mind sharing as it is how we all have learned in the first place. God bless be patient and never give up! I'm so super stoked to check out those sodas that Thomas showed us in this video! Thank you so much for all your uploads Thomas you rock you and Dr Berg are my favorites!!! maybe one day you can make a video about supplements that have that glycerin casing because they're freaking everywhere and it's like when I make my stack for the week all I see is gelatin and glycerin capsules everywhere and I don't know if it's affecting my keto or not... That would be a great video! Thank you!

This will most likely cause you to gain weight, the carbs cause a larger insulin response and the fat + carbs are stored as fat on the body. Healthy keto is the way to go, skip the carbs. If you do intend to gain weight, make sure those carbs you're eating are at least complex (clean) carbs
@Yourfriendinendtimes
@Yourfriendinendtimes 3 жыл бұрын
Thomas has a LOT of videos on this. Any time you spike your insulin your body is going to store fat unless youre active after consuming the carbs that caused the spike. if youre gonna do it that way (not sure why you would do it on purpose ) then you can at least take a walk afterwards. that will lessen the spike and reduce the negative effects of the insulin spike. Try to make your meals primarily protein and fat or protein and carbs. if your goal is fat loss you want to avoid high fat and high carbs together at all costs!! Edit: of couse you didnt mention what kind of carbs at all... I made the assumption you're talking about processed grains or something. If you're talking like 10 to 30 or even 40% of your meal is vegetables then youre golden.

Thomas, question for you; so we all know about net carbs.. the fiber IN certain foods will cancel out some of the carbs in THAT food. But if you eat a food that has carbs, and you add fiber to your meal from a different source, does that fiber cancel out the carbs even if it’s from a different source? You said that certain fiber competes with glucose, so it seems like that would make sense, that added fiber would cancel out glucose in your body in general? I hope I’m phrasing that correctly.

Depends on if you're doing clean or dirty keto. Dirty keto has tons of hidden thickeners/gums and tapioca flour in processed 'food'. Clean keto can have you eating way too much celery because you're tying to avoid Dirty Keto foods. Keto can have you eating way more meat than you're used too or way more produce than you're used to. It's all about balancing the microbiome with a diverse diet that includes fermented foods daily. Keep it diverse and your body will find its homeostasis. If all you eat is chicken, cauliflower, and Atkins Peanut butter bars your digestive system will shut down. "Digestive system" includes the Microbiome (not just throat/bowels/colon) and many are referring to it as an ORGAN because of how large it is and how much it affects the brain and all the other systems... it's your second brain. Keep the microbes up! Synbiotics, 2 T of kimchi, or pili nut yogurt a day. It's how Asians have been thin for generations.... very diverse diet and fermented foods at almost every meal. Magnesium draws water into the bowel and is a quick fix but doesn't address the root of the problem. Psyllium husk capsules are a Soluble fiber quick fix too. But it's better to eat chia/flax because you utilize chewing, which is a big part of the digestive system because of the enzymes that are triggered by it. Some people have to take Digestive Enzymes (lipase, protease, amylase) or Gluten Enzymes or Lactaid to aid them until homeostasis is reached. www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-Super-Enzymes-Capsules/dp/B000Y8AT0O/ref=asc_df_B000Y8AT0O/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312139957610&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6526279752978521126&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9026919&hvtargid=pla-561351289867&psc=1

I think you missed an important warning, along with instructions on how to use soluble fibre safely... especially when your only 2 examples are chia and flax. I was told chia was super healthy, but no one told me it was highly estrogenic until after 2 yrs of almost daily consumption ! That was also 2 years of my health and waistline getting worse! Now I only have much smaller portions of chia and maybe only a couple times a month.

Great. So much info. But WHAT do I actually need to eat to get these? Pretty sure Kellog's doesn't just sell boxes of Soluble Fibre. It'll be Wheaties or something. Which fibre does Celery have? I swear Thomas needs to put quick check-lists at the start of his videos listing what foods to eat to benefit from the info being provided cause there's loads of morons out there like me who just want to know what to eat for the good stuff and don't want to, or don't have time to, sit through an 8-12 minute video of science lessons that we then need to spend 3 hours deciphering. Just tell me what the hell to eat!
