Not gonna lie, I love Toad's modern voice (even more than his honestly kinda bland MK64 voice). Apart from being iconic, it also manages to perfectly walk that fine line of having a raspy and high-pitched voice without going into grating territory; and it actually sounds low-key endearing. And considering how throat-aching that kind of voice is, it's something I give MAD props to. Well, except for Kelsey Hutchinson's take. Charles does the same voice for both Wario, Luigi, Waluigi besides Mario for the English voices.

Daisy sounds different too. I wouldn't be surprised if every character except Mario sounds different. Wario I think has had quite a bit of differences. I think he had a German voice actor for the first Mario Party which was really deep and then his voice in Mario Kart 64 is really high and whiney. They both sound very different from the voice I hear in smash ultimate.
@lordpsi993 жыл бұрын
Okay, Waluigi has had the same exact voice actor since his debut in Mario Tennis, Charles Martinet. I believe Luigi and Wario were Charles in Mario Kart 64 NA and possibly EU but not in Mario Kart 64 JP, Mario Party 1, or 2. Mario Golf might have been when Charles was given the roles for Luigi and Wario permanently. Wario is Charles in Mario Kart 64 NA and Charles in Smash Bros. His Wario and Waluigi has changed a bit over the years and Wario's voice seems to be much more dynamic in Smash, going much lower in places but still going high pitch in his up-special. Audio quality is much better from the GameCube onwards so the extra bandwidth picks up and delivers more frequencies from Charles' voices. The recording sessions for Brawl must have been exciting for Charles and the engineers and they really got a great performance. The session that was done for Wario Land 4, WarioWare and then Wario World was very tinny sounding on GBA but better on GameCube (World may have been a separate recording session except the "EXX-CELL-EH-ENT!" is definitely the same take between Land 4, Ware and World, actually maybe it didn't appear in Land 4 but Ware and World came out at the same time and they definitely both have it). I've spent a lot of time thinking about these three characters' voices because I absolutely love them! Luigi became Luigi as soon as Charles gave him that voice in Mario Kart 64 NA, same with Wario. Waluigi has been so hilarious because of everything that went into his character. I wish that Alphadream could have made a Wario & Waluigi RPG. That would have been perfect!

In the voice acting world, many companies hire the same person to voice multiple characters in the show/game/etc. since usually they get to pay the actor for basically only one character in many Instances. I have a feeling that they used Jen Taylor for toad as well because of that reason, (btw I’m not a pro on this topic since I’ve only been studying voice acting and have not personally experienced this myself)

It’s unlikely this is actually the case. Nintendo as a company has shown precedent in the past where those imitating “unofficial” iterations of voices have been asked to change their tone or outright never hired.
@trailersic3 жыл бұрын
@@projectalpha22_va Okay you can trust precedent or your own ears.
@projectalpha22_va3 жыл бұрын
@@trailersic I’m gonna trust precedent. Did you know that the per capital consumption of cheese marches nearly exactly the same amount of people who die by becoming tangled in their bedsheets? Causation does not equal correlation, it’s very possible that two people both looked at Toad and came to the same conclusion on how to voice him. I won’t trust my ears, I’ll trust the data, thank you very much! 😁 That’s not to say it’s IMPOSSIBLE, but it’s also a large stretch that cannot be confirmed with far more evidence to the contrary than towards your point. As a historical video, speculation could be made but it isn’t like they missed a vital fact, it was a footnote at most of something interesting.

In a previous video you did with peach, I thought that Jen Taylor mentioned that as she became comfortable with imitating the voice of peach, she began to put her own spin on things as a result. Could it be possible that case be the same for toad as well? I think assuming “she did a bad job” at imitating toad’s previous voice actor without any evidence as you said, sort of devalues her work and creativity as the progenitor of toads iconic screechy scruffy voice. It’s entirely possible she did it due to her own creative volition. Not because “she did a bad job.” Who knows though, I could be wrong.
