I Photographed the Same Subject 3 Times. The Results Might Surprise You

This is my last video from the Matterhorn area. We allowed ourselves 2 nights to ensure we had the best chance of photographing this beautiful mountain as the weather can often hamper photography efforts. As it happens, we had beautiful weather and light for most of our time here which gave me the opportunity to photograph the landscape on more than one occasion. Each time the conditions were completely different, resulting in no 2 images being the same.

Dear Thomas, I don't normally comment on KZbin too much, but somethings just need to be expressed / said. I first came across your Chanel in early 2015 after a short but quite serious illness; I made a great recovery by the way, and after watching yet another memorable film, I wonder what it is that makes people give anyone's hard work a thumbs down. If I'm right, reflecting back to one of your older videos, negative remarks can hurt, and emotionally disturb. I refer to one of your older videos. Can I say however that in my humble opinion that your work, your films, your wonderful images are massively inspiring to me. After watching this particular film; I add in places induced a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye, that thanks to you and others like you; Simon Baxter being another I frequently watch, You enable me to go with you on those incredible journeys and experience although not directly, obviously, what you are seeing and experiencing. I would love to go on one of these expeditions one day, hopefully in the not to distant future, but until then keep doing what you are doing, you are doing brilliantly. Your films lifted me emotionally back in early 2015 and continue to do so now. Thank you!

Wow Thomas,what a vlog! I actually got a bit emotional watching that, pure scenic beauty at its very best 😚 And all of your images are just breathtaking! As far as I'm aware there is a cable car from Zermatt up to the location of this video, so with a bit of help it must be possible :) I have only seen the Matterhorn from the Italian side, there they call it Cervino, and it is a moment I will never forget, it's such an impressive and majestic mountain, seriously no picture or video can ever capture its size and grandeur! It is worth the effort :)

You can easily get to Zermatt and there are a multitude of places in the town where you can get clear shots of the Matterhorn. I don't walk well, myself, but it is well worth the trip just to see it.

never been at the Matterhorn, but if you are handicapped, Maroon Bells is easily accessible, and if you're going there during the Fall colors? better be there at 4am, or else you will see 100+ people with tripods. and you will not have a spot to place your tripod, hehe.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. I’ve had the good fortune to spend a couple of family summer holidays in Zermatt. Young children and family baggage meant that I was only armed with a Sony point and shoot - but just couldn’t stop shooting the Matterhorn. Every few yards/minutes the perspectives and sky would change and I’d just have to take another shot - and another and another. It is absolutely stunning. I always thought that the fiery red peak images I had seen before had been photoshopped - but when you actually see it at dawn it is amazing. You’ve made me want to go back again. Thank you.

The sunset shot is gorgeous! No insane colors but I think I like this view better. A really symetrical image, grey tones for a moody atmosphere and just a touch of warmth so we know it's sunset: great image! Just an advice for a fellow trekker and photographer who wants you to keep doing what you love for a long time: you should go to an outdoor store and get advice on how to fit your backpacks, it always looks like you're wearing them way too low and have all the weight on your shoulders. Maybe the back lenght is not set up properly...? I work for an outdoor retailer and making outdoor experiences as good as they can be is my job!
