They were founded in 2004 as a parody band to counterpart the (sometimes overly) serious German medieval folk scene, so the older material is full tongue in cheek with raunchy and/ or silly lyrics, a tradition they continue with their ambiguous stage names. They left the straight parody while keeping the mostly humorous attempt, and became more of a folk rock band. Over the last few years, they've added more and more metal elements to their music which led to the current album Fegefeuer (Purgatory). The original material is usually in German (with some Latin here and there) but in 2020 they started doing cover songs in English too. The Final Countdown is a quite funny cover but it has only a lyrics video. They have so many bangers, it's difficult to recommend something. For the original I'd say Untot im Drachenboot (Undead on the Dragon Boat [yes, we're talking Viking Zombies]) or SGFRD Dragonslayer. Or Ultima Nocte (Latin for Final Night/ The Last Night) as it has a really nice solo(s) section. The covers are from all over the place: I See Fire (Ed Sheeran), preferably the live version featuring Thomas Winkler (formerly aka Angus McFife [when he was with Gloryhammer] now aka Angus McSix), Blinding Lights (The Weeknd), Gimme Gimme Gimme (ABBA), Ding (Seeed, German based multi national Dancehall/ Reggae/ Hip Hop band) feat. Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum), *highly recommended* Warriors of the World United (ManOwar) feat. Saltatio Mortis (represented by vocalist Alea), Thomas Winkler and Melissa Bonny, Hier kommt Alex (Die Toten Hosen, German punk rock band), and of course the infamous Dragostea Din Tei aka the Numa Numa song (original by Moldovan boy group O-Zone).

Hans is an endorsed Framus guitar player with a number of custom built guitars by them, and plays them almost exclusively. He lives basically in the neighbourhood of the Framus workshop in northern Bavaria.

Since I didn't see it mentioned in the other comments, might I suggest to have a look at their Manowar: Warriors of the World united cover? You not only get Feuerschwanz (which you pronounced almost perfectly, btw), but Alea from Saltatio Mortis, Melissa Bonny from Ad Infinitum and Thomas Winkler, formerly from Gloryhammer, now from Angus McSix as well

@@natkirsten4653 I had a listen to a few tracks and really enjoyed them. I'll be listening to more. And good on them for taking on such heavy but important issues. Cheers for the suggestion.

Wonderful reaction, i love first timers ;-) Please stick to Feuerschwanz, the latest songs were Bezerkermode, Bastard von Asgard and Siegfried Dragonslayer. But I might recommend starting with their older stuff like Ding (a cover from Seeed), Meister der Minne, Methämmer and so on as they had a looooot of progression in their works over the last years. Keep em coming 🙂 Greetings from Germany

This song rocks hard, the contrast between the harsh and clean vocals is so good and the video production value is through the roof. Yeah Fenrir was the child of Loki and the giantess/Jotun Angrboda, Fenrir was chained up during Ragnarok and breaks free of the chains (hence Fabi in the video seen holding chains) and kills Odin. Odin is avenged by his son Vidarr (himself a son of Odin and Gridr the giantess) who kills Fenrir.

If you like this, I suggest you two other bands, one is Brothers of Metal, also fun and North Mythology, and the second band of the long haired male singer of Feuerschwanz, called dArtagnan. Song to start with Brothers of Metal I suggest Ygdrassil. About the tree of life from the North Mythology. dArtagnan I suggest Wallenstein, about the historic person Wallenstein from the 30 years war. But feel free to go with any other official video also. Have fun and tyvm for this reaction 😊

Great Reactio look to Warriors of the World cover from Feuerschwanz and the many of the another Medival Rock Bands from Germany SALTATIO MORTIS (with My Mother told me, or GOD OF WAR), IN EXTREMO, SCHANDMAUL, SUBWAY TO SALLY and more
@guyvandurme7228 Жыл бұрын
If you like bagpipes and METAL, then my other favourite bandsis for you : IN EXTREMO ! Fabienne Erni also appears in Eluveitie (lead singer), The dark side of the Moon the lead singer is MELIISSA BONNY), Illumishade. Melissa Bonny is my second favourite female voice. SHe appears as guest in two Feuerschwanz songs : Warriors of the world united + Ding. She is the singer of AD Infinitum and of The dark side of the moonbut also sings solo. Those two ladies are jewels, don't miss any....

So if you liked this you should definitly check out "My Mother Told me" by german folk metal band Saltatio Mortis. "My Mother Told me" was some sort of internet penomenon during C19, it was featured in "Assasins Creed: Valhalla" and in "Vikings" and somehow evereyone had to give it a go, but the version of Saltatio Mortis is completely different and 2 if not 3 levels above all others. You will love it... and if you want to stay with feuerschwanz i recommend: "Metfest", "Schubsetanz", "Kampfzwerg" and of course the collab they made for "Warriors of the World"

You really need to check out more Feuerschwanz (Foyer-Sh-wanz), their last 3 albums is all amazing.. not a single dud song on the albums.. "Memento Mori" and their cover of "Warriors of the world united" is simply sublime! Other outstanding tracks from the band: Ding, Meister Der Minne, SGFRD Dragonslayer, Berzermode, Das Elfde Gebot, I see Fire, Metfest, Malleus Maleficarum, Hier kommt Alex, Schubsetanz (original & Black metal version), Untot im Drachenboot, Ultima Nocte, Dragostea Din Tei, Final Countdown, Gimme Gimme Gimme!, Blinding Lights, Im Bauch des Wals, & Die Hörner hoch. Hans (the guitar player) and Jenny (One of the backup dancers) is also in The Dark Side of the Moon with Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum) and Morten Lowe (Amaranthe) .. they also have a song with Fabi. Ben (The vocalist with the winged Thor headdress) also has his own band dArtagnan that is worth checking out as well.
