@Insignatious a big theme of the movie is the idea of change. Ppl need to change for the better. Some don’t, and some do. I feel as tho that cuz the characters in Thor movies, besides the royal family are given extremely limited attention, we don’t see them grow. So when u see them here, they don’t change and therefore they’re dispatched quickly. It also makes Hela a bigger threat, tho her inability to change and accept change ends her. There’s also commentary abt colonization, and how Odin is a shit dad but at least realized his colonization was a garbage practice and he ended it, and Hela refused to.

The story of Loki is almost a tragedy, and would have ended as it read consistant for many years, but for Odins admission that he loved his sons, and his humor at how difficult it was to break free of Loki's latest machinations. Before Odin passed he told Loki he loved him in a way that could not be argued, must have eased a long hurt Loki had been tending. But it was when Thor outwitted Lokis attempt at betrayal and turned it on him, showing Loki that Thor could adapt and grow into something more, and Loki could as well if he wanted rather than be stuck as a petty god of mischief. Loki burdened with real truth, decided to take a ship and crew back to Asgard to fight for his people. His people because Loki wanted to be more than he was.. He made a choice, decided who he was. Fought beside his brother to save the people. He was a true Prince and Odinson that day. With right finally to be proud, for he was a savior to his people. Love for his brother, forced him to relinquish the tesseract, and when his scheming failed to defeat or bargin with Thanos, he said his name, and titles looking at his fallen brother as he said,Odinson, as a nod to their bond and a final goodbye as Loki son of Freya and Odin struck out in brave futility against inevitable Thanos, who killed Loki for has many broken promises to Thanos. But he died on his feet fighting, as would be expected as a son of Odin would... And that is why... the story of Loki while sad does not end in tragedy, because clever Loki finally made a choice, and died with honor, remembered by his people and loved by his brother. A worthy end to a troubled Loki..

Speak for your self. I found some lines funny, but the one when Asgard was literally blowing up was equivalent to cracking a joke at people fleeing a war zone It takes what should be an extremely emotional scene for basically an entire race of people and turns it into yet another lazy pratfall for cheap laughs. But what else can you expect from the company that literally brought us the fictional white savior version of the Pocahontas story, as opposed to the reality of John Smith who wrote that fiction - aka the abductor and rapist of Pocahontas. There's a point at which you sacrifice too much to make something fit into the limited box of the lowest common denominator going to the box office - and sadly they did that for Thor. Again, and again, and again. Only he'll never get a solo TV series to retcon that character and mythos devolution - it'll just get worse. Next Thor film he'll literally be doing stand up routines with Mjolnir, I really don't think that is even remotely a stretch given what Taika and the IW/EG writers have done to the character so far.

In the new Mjolnir origin, the story tells of a cosmic storm so fierce it would blow planets from their orbits with its wind, blast moons apart with its lightning, and make black holes shake with its thunder. It was called the God Tempest, the Mother of Thunder. When the storm descended upon Asgard, Odin engaged it in battle with the Odinforce (just go with it, okay?) and trapped it inside a hunk of raw Uru gifted to him by the dwarves. Odin brought the Uru back to the dwarves for them to make it into a weapon, and they had to use a star get their forge hot enough to smelt it. When it was complete, Odin named the hammer Mjolnir. When he attempted to wield it, the hammer flew out of control and nearly destroyed Asgard in the process. Angered, Odin enchanted it so it would be all but impossible for anyone else to lift it. If he couldn't use the storm's power, then no one would, and so the hammer sat in his armory for eons. Of course we know that Thor Odinson was eventually deemed worthy enough to wield the hammer. That is, until the events of Original Sin where Nick Fury whispered something into his ear that caused the hammer to deem him unworthy and reject him. That’s how Jane Foster came to be the hammer’s owner, until Thor was deemed “worthy” again. The hammer has always behaved differently for Jane. It would fly gracefully through the air doing loops and sharp turns as it helped Jane in combat, and Jane would treat it as though it was an ally of hers, even giving it a kiss in admiration. The hammer seemed to have a mind of its own, and after impersonating Jane and actually speaking to her, it seems that indeed it does.

When alien scouts chased Dr. Blake into the caves at the base of the cliffs, the walking cane was lost and a gnarled stick was all he could find for defense. In the comics, Skurge sacrificed himself to save Thor and a bunch of trapped mortal souls from Hela, holding the bridge leading out of Hel and standing against an army of undead while carrying a pair of assault rifles. "They sing no songs in Hel, nor do they celebrate heroes, for silent is that dismal realm and cheerless. But the story of the Gjallerbru and the god who defended it is whispered across the nine worlds. And when a new arrival asks about the one to whom even Hela bows her head, the answer is always the same: He stood alone at Gjallerbru... and that answer is enough."

So the major theory as to why Loki and Hela look alike in the movies is because when Odin found Baby Loki and picked him up, Loki saw into Odin's mind and instinctively changed himself to look like his firstborn, seeking safety and a new family since he was discarded by the frost giants. Of course, in the comics and in classic mythology, it's because Hela is Loki's daughter, not Odin's.

Odin's enchantments can't be altered once cast. In fact they also established this for general magic in the MCU. This is why Hela was stuck in that little pocket dimension until Odin died, because when whatever happened that caused them to have a knock down drag out fight that left her in the condition we saw her in when she came out, he must have placed an enchantment locking the pocket dimension "For as long as I am alive". He "Could" have said "As long as my daughter Hela lives.", but this was his daughter, after all. He may have wanted her out of his life, but he clearly didn't want to take away all of hers. So he gave her a life sentence based on his lifetime. The reason she isn't dead from dehydration or starvation is that she was likely only in there a few days at most as the energy required to create and contain a pocket dimension would create a lot of local mass and therefore a time dilation. So for her it was like being on the edge of a black hole's event horizon. This, by the way, is also why it was weeks between Loki and Thor arriving on the planet. Sikar must be moving much more slowly through the galaxy relative to the bifrost, byfrost? byefrost? (Which uses a lot of energy and must also cause a time dilation) So while it was seconds between Loki and Thor exiting the bifrost, the time dilation meant Loki was on Sikar weeks before Thor. And the Grandmaster suggests that time flows faster on Sikar than most other places. So Hulk may have been there for more than a few years.

I have this sad little head canon that when Odin found this little baby abandoned to die in the temple on Jotunheim, he did a little projecting, thinking about his own child he had shut away/abandoned. When he concealed that child's identity, he subconsciously made baby Loki look like his own lost child. But then, also subconsciously, he resented that child for the resemblance to Hela, as well as his emerging trickster tendencies.
