Thornton Hough, one camera - one lens

Alan, your videos always make perfect sense! In this video, the images that really stood out for me were the iron works on the door, and the steeple of the church framed by foilage. The stained glass inside the church was also quite lovely. Another enjoyable watch from across The Big Pond. 💜😎💜

A lovely tour of the village, Alan, thats another place I wasn't aware of, just 63 miles from me. 🚘 I enjoyed your little conversation segment with the lady, you really need your channel cards with you, Photography for Pleasure or even Enjoyment ect.😅 I like the idea of a one camera one lens setup, purely as a hobbyist no shot is crucial to me, the fun is to make the best from the equipment to hand, coupled with a little frustration of course, when we realise another lens might have better better for the given situation. Thank you Steve, there really are many locations on The Wirral that are worthy of a visit, I hope to cover more as time goes on. Yes, one camera and lens is a great way to familiarise yourself with the equipment although a lens like the 12-50mm Zuiko (24-100 in full-frame) really is super flexible. As you rightly say, there are still opportunities lost that you "could have got" with a selection of lenses, all part of this wonderful pastime!

right, this is my 3d attempt at leaving a comment. KZbin up to its old tricks again? another fascinating insight Alan, though when you said "model village" I was expecting just that - a scaled down model village (like Beaconscot and the such). lovely looking place though, and your usual crop of excellent memories of the day. I particularly liked the iron work on the doors 🙂

Thanks Alan. Another great video of places on the Wirral. Been there many times on my bike late 1950'S, early 60's also Raby Mere not far away, hopefully not built over now. Used to go to Thursaston Hill as well. Is that the correct spelling? I would have spelled it Thurstaston Hill. I don't know. Not how we pronounced it either way. I hear from locals here in Cheshire that they take their caravans there now to camp. Must have changed since I was last there. Keep up the good work of showing the Wirral!

Hello John, it is actually Thurstaston and of course "Thor's Stone". A great location and I'm sure that your locals take their caravans down to the campsite that is near the coast, not anywhere near the hill thank goodness. Raby Mere is pretty much the same but new build houses have gotten closer over the years.

The house to the left of the lady you were talking to I’ve been in... they are absolutely tiny inside but very ‘cosy’... been through Thornton Hough a million times but never really thought to stop and take a few shots, maybe next time 😊

That's an amazing coincidence Derek! In fact the lady did say that they were quite "snug", and (just like Port Sunlight) they are all rented from the association that runs/maintains the village. Stop off there next time and take some shots!
