My wife and I were sitting here trying to figure out what year it was she bought me the best pair of boots I've ever had we think it was 1988 and they are Red Wings. They get oiled at least once a year and they're still in great shape never needed any kind of repair and yeah I'm kind of rough on them.

I don’t doubt it one bit. I have a pair of Red Wings made in the early 2000s and there great. Thorogood is a excellent boot but my heart is always liked Red Wings.

I really wanted to like these boots, but I just can’t. I have had these for a year and a half and the tongue of the boot slides down to where the boot laces rub my shin. I do residential construction for reference so I am on concrete and dirt. For almost $300 that’s crazy that is happening. I have had to cut a hole in the tongue to fish my laces through so the tongue doesn’t fall down. I’ll stick to redwings. Good review though, just my experience with them.

I think that’s a very fair thought. Since this video I’ve been wearing some Red Wing 402 Super sole and wow the best. I still wear the Thorogood some times but the 402 is my favorite.

Great video! Just got my label. How did you send your boots back? Did fedex box them for you or did you use your own box?

Hey Manny I believe I just filled out all the info and mailed them in and they contacted me and confirmed what I wanted done. As far as getting them back I can’t remember if I provided a return label or just the money and they made a label.

I bet the $99 weed eater would last longer if people treated and maintained their $99 weed eater like a $400 weed eater.

Nate my friend I would have to part with you on that. It might stand a chance if you only used it for 15-20 mins at a time in light cutting.

I'm extremely lucky, l live relatively close to an Amish community and they've been repairing my boots and shoes for years. They can pretty well make anything leather wise you need from saddles to dress shoe soles, and fix any leather product. Best part is they're reasonably priced and will barter.

Yes that is a good deal. That local cobbler I mentioned was from Europe somewhere but he knew his stuff. Probably because they do a lot of shoe repair over there.

Years ago when I worked running heavy equipment around the coal mines, I always wore the Red Wing boots along with the Carolina boots. The Carolina Mock Toe is just as comfortable, durable and although they cost a little more, they will hold up to the rough treatment they get around the mines and the heavy equipment. Give the Carolina 8" Domestic Moc Toe Wedge boot a try, you may find your new favorite.

Red Wing has always been my favorite boots. But nowadays many of them are made in China and - IMO - are not the same quality as they use to be. They still do make some RW's here in the US, but they don't mind charging you for the "made in USA" label either. I still have a pair of Irish Setters and hopefully they'll last me for the rest of my days since I'm 73 and not NEARLY as active as I use to be. But if I go to buy again, I'm not sure I'd still go with RW. I guess time will tell.

Red Wing has that same Refurbishment program as Thorogood. The only difference is there’s is in house. Might be something to consider. Thanks for watching.

@@Jtwes Well Joey my RW's are only a couple of years old and holding up pretty well - so far. But if they get in need it might be worth the repair cost since new ones have gotten so high priced. Thanks. 👌

I've used Nu Shoe to resole my Thorogood 8" round toe boots. They originally had a black max wear wedge sole but i opted for a 90* heel vibram sole for the refurbishment. Couldn't be more pleased. I also have the 8" moc toes like yours but when they're ready for new soles, i'll stay with the wedge soles.

I work in excavation site development and I where redwings #400 i really like them. But about a month ago I did look some others at the boot store and Thorough Good was one i looked at. I don't know anyone that wears them and decided to buy a new pair of #400s

I would be about ashamed to tell you what I had to pay for the Good Feet insoles I bought. They have helped but goodness they were expensive.
