Great video! I played roller hockey for 7-8 years almost every day growing up, but have not inline skated for ~15 years. I just picked it up again a couple weeks ago and as I got some muscle memory back, I realized that most of my movements were limited to short bursts of speed with sharp stops/changes of direction for hockey. I didn't really have a set position/form for maintaining speed and position over distance. The segment on the basic position was excellent! I had tweaked my body/skate angle to engage my calves and glutes more, but was not utilizing my quads as much as needed. Realized from your video that I need to be sitting way lower in my basic position to engage the quads. I expect a lot more power from each push off now! And fatiguing a lot faster...

Great tips! Two questions: 1. When you push with your leg, what is the direction of the push? To the side (90 degree angle) ? 2. How do you maintain good pressure? By actively pushing into the ground?
@malcolmchapman48882 жыл бұрын
neither
@playlist5455 Жыл бұрын
1. Always to the directly to the side except when you are starting from a stop. 2. Classic technique - glide has no pressure. Double push - always has pressure.

I'm a rugby player. So, I'm used to being low in a rucking, tackling position. I'm 38 though, and need to lighten up the contact. I just bought my first pair of endurance inlines. Thanks for the tips! I'm not focused on speed, but more so distance so I can find other ways to stay in shape as my rugby career slows down. My son recently started speed skating! So, my marathon running days had me researching endurance skating!!

Yet , it is so important tp learn and keep in our mind to be ready safely to fall , and to avoid falling -- to be able safely To Stop . Stopimg Technics are most important , aspecially for the beginners , even in the first day and first week of the beginning of skating ( -- to avoid Funeral Expenses for our Family , or the Payments of the Emergency Hospitals expensys . I haven't skated since the 90s (Roller Blade Lightning II). Now I'm almost 50 and I bought a pair of K2 Kinetic 80s and I just keep falling on the outside of the skates. It was incredibly upsetting and I wasn't sure if it was me or the skates. I was thinking about buying a new pair of Roller Blade Lightning 80s in the hopes that I'm not falling on the outside of the skate. I tightened them as much as possible and it didn't help.
