The new hatch on the roof of the campervan is a SkyMaxx, bit of a game changer for us, and comes in two sizes, compatible with roof thicknesses 23-60mm. Here is a link with locations to find one yourself leisurevehicle... We got this as a PR sample, and are really impressed so far

Hi guys the noodles you bought are called shhpetzler not sputzler incase you wanted to know the correct pronounciation. You just add butter and salt to it. It's basically German pasta/noodles and you can add anything to it like bratwurst sausages or whatever vegan meat you desire. I'm english but my grandad was German so I have had spätzle many times both in Germany and in England. Sometimes you can buy it in aldi or lidl in England though probably not the vegan version so stock up on it if you like it before you leave Germany

The absolute most important ingredient in spaetzle is eggs (the more the better), so the vegan version is unlikely to work. My absolute favorite is Kässpätzle and beats Maccaroni and Cheese hands down. The cheese (mountain cheese) and the fried onions with it omg heaven.

What absolute madness! Thank you soooooo much for sharing your account. My dad and a buddy of his went to Oktoberfest when they were in their 70s! They flew from LA to Munich! That had their share of steins, lost their rental car on the way out, and were so inebriated that my dad said to his friend "Leroy, we are going to have to hold one another up."! My dad tried to explain the madness, as they did not get any photos. Now I know what they experienced. I am going to show your vlog to my mom, who refused to go on the trip. I was fortunate to experience this when I was in the Air Force stationed in Germany back in the eighties. It hasn't changed and is still the biggest and best party in the world. I went to Octoberfest, in Munich, with 4 other friends, and couldn’t get a beer because we couldn’t find seats and you have to get seated to have a beer. We had beer at the train depot. It was still a great experience and great people watching. Thanks for taking us with you.

If you went to octoberfest on the First day you will only be able to get a Beer after the First keg has been Opened at 12:00.

I'm a Welsh Ex-pat living in the North of Germany.I love München (Munich) but never go there for the "Wiesn" (Oktoberfest) It's much less stress at other times and going from Beer hall to Beer garden through the city sampling the different beers and food is always a pleasure when there aren't Hundreds of thousands of extra visitors in the city !!

Well you both have guts to wear those outfits twice. I think after the first outing I would have reverted back to jeans and a teeshirt! It's not what I thought as I guess I'm thinking of the past. It looks a lot more commercialised in the tents than I thought. Tbh I thought it was a big building with black forest decorations and stuff. It looked a load of fun and you both had a great time. I think people reserve seats a year in advance. I was going to go this year we had a little eurail trip planned but I couldn't get anywhere to look after my cat so we just went for a week instead. I'm so glad I missed this I would have hated it. Probably still be hungover now! Glad you got to enjoy it

Hi. We just done what you done a week earlier. Arrived on muddy fest field and went oh oh. As we were mid week there was space everywhere in the park. At the Wiesn, there was room in every tent all day long until 6pm. We chose the Augistener tent as it is more traditional where the Germans go. The Paulaner tent is for younger people as is the Hofrohause and Lowenbrau and maybe not full of locals but tourists. Great to see your video. If you ever go again, stay in Landsberg am Lech in the Stellplatz then get train in. Much easier and that is what we doing next time. Luxembourg next for us. Enjoy rest of your trip. If on return leg try and get to Munich city centre itself called Marianplatz. Loads to see and do and stay in Landsberg as said where there is water, WC and electricity.

Glad you got to experience it after all! Our son lives in Munich so we knew about booking of tables/reservations etc - or the endless queue to try to get a seat. By the way - it can be that way too when you enter any of the permanent big beer halls - you need to be seated to be served and you can walk circles for ages until you see someone leave (if at all!). If anyone wants a similar experience out of the Oktoberfest period just head to one of the big beer halls in Germany - especially on a weekend - there will be huge beers (mass - yes, it means huge, massiiiiiive), the big pretzels, the same beefy potato meals and especially a band when everything livens up. The beerhall though is likely to have families, children and all ages - and although there may be a bit of shouting and singing along, it's all in good fun. We always go to one of the beer halls when we visit Munich. Hofbrauhaus is one of the favs (they are on iG) and also Paulaner. We have enjoyed our visits to Munich/Bavaria and think our son fits in very well as the attitude is quite Scottish I think - Bavarians are bavarians first lol (kind of like Scots wherever in the world they are). I don't fancy that mud park of a site though lol. Enjoy the rest of your German travels. PS Any disapproval at your outfits might have come from older people who view those "outfits" as their Bavarian national dress - not for dress-up lol. My son was given it in the ear for wearing lederhosen when he is Scottish - they said he should be wearing his own national outfit! So it's not that people are "dressing up" in lederhosen etc - they are simply wearing their national dress, like a Scottish person proudly wearing their kilt to an event. Most people would just humour it I'm sure lol. It was fun to hear and see all the lively chaos ha ha! PS For anyone looking to do Oktoberfest in future, there are quite a few films up on KZbin which detail the costs of booking tables/drinks/booking and how to go about it if you want to ensure a reserved seat. Our son has been lucky that his work place booked a whole table - and that is common: a workplace or a family will book a table of ten or more people and it's a per head cost that includes a beer and some foot. It's expensiiiiiiive! Enjoy Germany, or should I say - Bavaria as it is very different to the rest of the country!
