Nah, Nervosa is more of the same, pale, formulaic thrash metal. The reason they get some spotlight is the fact they are an all female band, which will always be something that naturally gets some attention. If they were a regular male band it would be totally forgettable.

Agree with all, except for SOD. Or at least their debut, which is a classic I still listen to on the original 1985 vinyl lp (just yesterday). 😉 Maybe it's because I already got it shortly after it came out and it totally blew me away back in the day. 🤷 I.e. nostalgics are a big part of it. 😎

I also didn't like Tankard when I first heard them but after couple of years I gave it another chance and got hooked. Yeah, it's pretty basic thrash and jokes about beer got old but hey, still good enough for me.

Back in college thrash metal was my favorite genre. And yet still, there was several bands I cannot get into 😅 like: Metal Church, Agent Steel, Nuclear Assault, Artillery, Evil Dead, Razor, Whiplash, Heathen, Xentrix, Vio-Lence, Hirax, Gamma Bomb, Evile, Dark Angel, Dust Bold, Bonded by Blood, etc...

@@dzeger2810 my point is that it is natural that they don't have the same impact as the most "iconic" of the (sub)genre. For some reason, these bands are more dug in the underground than others (they are more-of-the-same, same-old, repetitive, non creative, etc), specially in thrash metal. It is NOT determinant, but it is more usual.

@@vicenteraira But I heard them all when I was in my most thrash metal phase and I really didn´t liked them 😀Underground bands that I do like are: Sacred Reich, Infernäl Majesty, Mortal Sin, Holy Moses, Deathchain, Vindicator, Bulldozer, Suicidal Angels, Fueled by Fire or Exumer. The last one I started to like when I returned to it years ago, so who knows.... ;-)

Same as me, I started my "extreme" metal journey with thrash metal, then going to the thrash underground and I listened to many of these bands you mentioned in the first messages (these of the second are more unknown for me), which, for me, sounded more-of-the-same, repetitive and formulaic.

Personally, can't really get into technical/progressive thrash (Voidvod, Vektor, Watchtower, Toxik) except for Coroner. Also I don't like most crossover (like S.O.D., M.O.D., Cryptic Slaughter). But I do enjoy Suicidal Tendencies, D.R.I., Municipal Waste and Nuclear Assault (if you count the last two as crossover).

I agree with the tech thrash. It took me a long time to get into Voivod, Watchtower, etc. Coroner although technical still write really catchy and memorable songs, if you don't know them I recommend Anacrusis, they play a similar style as Coroner

Annihilator are great. But I'll happily pass on Tankard, Municipal Waste, Lawnmower Deth and Nervosa. Thrash is one of those genres I get really into for a while, then don't listen again for months

mine is kreator, dark angel. Could never get into them. I like some death angel but the first album is awesome. I like 1 sepultura album arise but I can't stand roots. But the last album quadra is good. Annihilator is ok the lyrics is super cringy. Sod is my favorite lmao

The only Thrash bands I like are: Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, Coroner, Testament and some albums from Pantera (which are a bit different from regular thrash). Also the first releases from Sodom, Kreator and Destruction are great Black/Thrash or Proto/Black. I prefer Progressive Metal, Black and Death Metal much more.

Tankard: is fine but yeah they just sound like Diet Exodus. Can’t really get into them too much Havok: bores me a lot Vio-Lence: Hated the vocals so much, the riffs are fine I guess but still listening to their classic album Eternal Nightmare and I thought it was shit Possessed: I know they arguably made death metal but I do associate them more with thrash, I respect them but I just haven’t really enjoyed a album they have done, many bands do that Death/Thrash sound better to me.

I'm big into thrash but I definitely understand each of these. Not a big fan of later Annihilator, or first 2-3 D.R.I. albums. I like Tankard, but it can get a little stagnant. I haven't listened to Nervosa enough to have an opinion, and I dislike S.O.D.

DRI ("Dirty Rotten Imbeciles", the thing you overdid there with the name was uncool and cheap btw), and SOD are considered crossover thrash. Also is more than ironic that someones who loves doom metal finds thrash metal boring (for me is my favorite metal genre). But it's ok, everyone has his won taste but I still don't get why is there any interest for us to learn about someone's least favorite bands of a genre he nearly dosesn't like.

Before watching your video, I can't get into: Tankard Sodom (except In The Sign of Evil, i really tried with Agent Orange but I just don't like it) Death Angel Dark Angel Exodus Anthrax Flotsam & Jetsam Gama Bomb Havok Hirax ...the list goes on. Its better if I just list the bands I DO like. Also, generally I prefer black/thrash.

Agree with this list. I own Annihilators album Alice in Hell. They are good but not as good as a lot of other bands. Pretty much all their albums are mid. Never heard of Nervosa. But none of those bands are anyone's favorite thrash bands. The good albums by Slayer, Metallica, Sodom, Kreator ect send these bands home on a stretcher.

Well thrash is my favorite metal subgenre so this will be hard but i can come up with 5 i think 1. Tankard which you also mentioned i mean a couiple drinking songs is fine but a entire discography come on 2. Lawnmower Death -great name shitty band . 3.Municipal Waste I actually dont hate them but i also dont like them 4.Does Anvil count maybe speed metal but either way very influential and quite frankly while important i just cant do it . 5 Xentrix or Nasty Savage neiither of which are truly deplorable to me i just would rather listen to like 100 other bands

I can't get into early Exodus albums. Force Of Habit and Tempo Of The Damned the only their albums I can listen. Annihilator has sorta weird albums since 00-s. Can't listen them without laugh or disgust. All the old ones good. Overkill is overly too long and samey. Aside from a few songs "an empty discography" the same with Tankard.

The first 2 Annihilator albums are classics 😯. Ones I don't like are Exodus and Death Angel. Yes Suicidal Tendencies are rubbish. A lot of the modern bands aren't great - Municipal Waste and Toxic Holocaust etc.

Man, Exodus has some amazing later Albums, and so does Death Angel...didn't care too much for early Death Angel albums, but I've checked them out recently for some reason and was surprised. Sort of the same thing with Exodus, they definitely got way better with age....of course my opinion, and it's perfectly fine if you disagree.

Tons of thrash bands that I'm not as much into as I 'should' be, but I think my biggest crime is being bored to death by the post-Violent Revolution era Kreator. It's just too fucking melodic and not enough grit. Or something. Actually, all melodic thrash bores me (I don't know how to describe it other than the thrash equivalent of melodeath), it's too polished and sterile. Give me Sadus, give me Coroner, Rigor Mortis, Infernal Majesty, Hellwitch, et cetera, and I'm in, but that melodic stuff can piss right off.

Peace Sells and Rust In Peace are great, the rest of their albums are either decent or sub par to me… kind of a spotty discography. Metallica’s first four are great, the rest are either decent or bad. Crazy how the two biggest thrash bands aren’t even in my top 25 bands anymore. I just think my own taste has expanded.

There's honestly not many thrash bands I don't enjoy at least an album of. Death metal has some bands like Deicide, Immolation etc I don't like whose songs are about atheism instead of gore and philosophy. Black metal has some bands who are too polished and/or phony sounding which I can't get into (Satyricon, Belphegor). Thrash though is really hard to mess up, I appreciate that about it.

Dude, I might be wrong, but for me it was pretty obvious from his comment that he's a Christian, since as you stated, immolation and deicide are anti-christianity bands. And let's be real the reason why these band bash Christianity is not because other religions are cool and really helpful. But simply because they are neither a threat or because it's just dangerous to criticize them, I'm sure you know what I mean. Like what's the point to be anti-buddhist, this religion is not being forced as much as abrahamic religions. Other small religions just don't have enough followers to be considered as a threat.

Guys I'm Muslim, I don't have a problem with anti religious lyrics but it's generally not what I'm looking for in death metal unless it's done well like Cryptopsy. The black metal bands just do it way better so I'd rather have my death metal violent and cartoonishly gory like horror movies instead of more "God bad". Annihilator is hard, and I'm Canadian. Their first two albums are amazing, BUT, the vocals on a great many of their records are really sub-par, goofy or just down right bad. The albums that the guitarist Jeff sings on being the worst of these. Later albums that are good are Criteria for a Black Widow, Waking the Fury and Schizo Deluxe. Dirty Rotten Imbeciles are especially known for the grating vocal style, but they do it on purpose. It's like Snake from Voivod, either you get it or you don't. Tankard suck.

Destruction...the music is cool but they have the thinnest, weakest, most lifeless production of any classic thrash band, and the vocals are just weird...but not like King Diamond or Bobby Blitz weird...like his tone just sounds constantly off to me. I've been meaning to check out their 90's output to see if the production had improved at all.

Pantera was not Thrash. They were Glam Metal for their first three 80s albums. Heavy Metal during their 1988 Power Metal album. In 1990 they went Groove Metal. Metal Church is a Heavy Metal band and not Thrash either. I say this as a metalhead myself who got into Heavy Metal in 1988 at the age of 12 who is 47 currently.

Dark Angel is one of the worst bands I've heard full stop. They have this one song that is just three minutes or so of nothing but static, no real rythm, riff no changes in anything. Then also Municipal Waste, Warbringer, Havok, Vio-Lence. Overall the genre is just kinda meh outside of the absolute biggest bands.
