Bless this Austyn Segment. His attitude has been such an inspiration over the years. I'm going through a difficult period in my near-mid 30s and it's hard to stay connected with my dreams in skating and simultaneously try to fit into society as a functioning adult who in some ways wants to build a resilient life for the years ahead. This part inspired so much in this low mood/indecisive period I found myself in.

So much love and respect for Austyn. Could rant for days about his skating over the decades and how much his different video parts would get me out the door and off skating throughout those different periods of time, but words feel like they couldn't do justice to the impact he and his skating has had on my life. Also need to shout out his signature shoe on Habitat shoes back when. To this day, those were my favorite shoes of all time. Probably went through about a dozen different pairs throughout '09-13ish. Man, the nostalgia wave hitting right now is something else!

This perspective of personal growth (in a more serious way) revolving between skateboarding, but also life, it's something I feel it was really necesarry to remind. Skateboarders usually don't see (we) the whole picture of things that go beyond skateboarding. Like learning from things that really fucked you up but still be grateful and understand what those changes brought to your life. We use skateboarding as a escape of real life which is really helpfull, but we forget that skateboarding is part of a whole experience called life. Really pleased with this video of Austyn. Nice job, Thrasher.

Man, Austyn went to the same highschool and same elementary in my district. Liberty boardshop closed down now but that was where i would go as a little 9 year old finding my first setup. My dad would come in and i obviously would be embarrased because my dad new nothing about skateboarding but Austyn would always be around with his dog and he would be super chill with my dad and I, so would the people at the boardshop. I miss those days man. I remember seeing Austyn's Day in the life video from yeaaaars ago as well visiting Liberty. RIP liberty boardshop and goodbye to my youthh 😢.

Austyn will be forever immortalized in my mind as one of the few iconic skateboarders of this era simply because he refuses to be a fucking copycat like he said. And it’s not like he goes out of his way to be different, it’s a natural thing and in the same way Dylan was if he thinks you should go fuck yourself and I’m gonna dress this way even though the rest of the sheep are doing there thing, he’s gonna do it. And that, along with an incredible ability on a skateboard….Is what makes legends who are remembered for a very long time. Love Austyn, him and Dylan are my favs. Dickson too, not a lot of brave original ppl anymore and it’s fucking sad honestly

I see a plenty of talented skateboarders that can't make it through the dry seasons sponsorwise and they end up ending their skate careers prematurely, developing a sense of bitterness and cynicism about the industry. Companies that turn you pro forever like Girl/Chocolate are the exception, not the norm, in skateboarding, and without a company like that backing you through your unproductive/uninspired seasons (or their unprofitable seasons) some of these guys just want to live a normal life with a normal job. I'm glad Austyn was able to navigate his sponsorship journey instead of closing the door on his skate career, cause old bobby D nuts-in-a-vice is one of the greats stylewise.

Love hearing how he has evolved since his time with Termite.
