I grew up in Summit county. I went to Green high school. I used to go to the first Hartville tool in the early 70's. it is amazing. I have gotten 3 sets of chaser from Hartville Tool. Thanks Sam

What kind of lathe do you have? I have chased at 500 rpm just to see if I could do it. It is possible but it helps if one can chase threads to begin with. I think 400 is reasonable to learn at Sam

There is a difference in the shape of each tool. I go for chasers with a really short handle. The Sorby chasers work OK but the handle is too long. I like crown cause it is the cheapest chaser I have found. Let me know what you decide.

If you live where it is local pear makes great wood for practice... as well as real projects. I've used it to make a recorder (instrument) and it is nice and hard but cuts very smoothly.

Great video. Don't know why I keep watching thread chasing videos, though. Thread chasing tools seem over priced and I dont think my lathe will run slow enough for it even if I splurged and bought a set.
