As a GA pilot, your videos are part of my personal safety culture. It's part of my SOPs actually. I need to actively consume high quality safety material. And today I learned what the big boys do for threat and error management. This is actionable, high-quality stuff here. So, thanks!

This is great info! I might have mentioned in your previous video (with the throwback here), but the C172 has a foot stomp that is attached to the yoke to help you push down if a student locks up with a high AoA. I do anticipated threats and mitigations on every flight. Regardless of the mission, every flight has at least one threat. Even on a perfect weather day, there’s the threat of lots of traffic

There are so many things that can kill you in aviation, you have to be on guard and take it seriously.

So this seems like only half of the story. The definition of different types of threats, errors and unanticipated aircraft configuratios. But what about the management of those states after you've identified the different threats, errors or aircraft configs. Does TEM have a systemic way to manage these defined items? For example, maybe the best way to deal with time critical threats is drilling the most common scenarios...? Is that the best way to deal with other types? What is the management part? And I think that airport is BNA.

2:20 BNA! 😄

Great introduction… but you missed the critical factor which makes TEM have an impact… recognizing the threat is the first step. However, if the treat is not VERBALIZED, along with verbalizing a MITIGATION strategy, there is no change in behavior and thus, no benefit to TEM. “We have a gps failure. I will fly the aircraft. You look for a VOR, tune it, and get us an alternate navigation source. And, will you let ATC know we will be using airways now and not direct.” You didn’t explain any examples of really how to use TEM to solve anything, only the definitions of types of threats and errors… you also need to explain a threat is “something outside of your control which adversely affects the flight”. The core of TEM was missed here… (thank you for your desire to help GA)
