i don't know about you guys...but i am mountainbiking since the 90's and never shuttled. i also never rode an ebike so far. but maybe i was just lucky to grow up next to some nice hills. greetings from germany 🙂

Looks like a fun trail system. Just got an Ibis Oso. Absolutely love it. Had a little over an hour to ride today. If I had my Bronson probably would not have ridden bc just not worth it for what I could get in. Instead took the Oso and did the entire park in 53 mins. Man if you hammer these things they turn every trail into an DH trail. 🤙

Thanks for following along! I don't allow myself to get a dirt bike because I would probably destroy myself (and my bank account) in a matter of moments. 😝 Looks amazingly fun though!

@@mtb_alan Fair enough. I was getting a little too reckless on the mountain bike and eventually broke my collarbone at Skypark back in 2019. With the dirt bike I'm a lot more cautious because it seems (and is) more dangerous. Have a great new year, Alan!

Hi, Enjoy watching your rides. As a general observation with the eMTB Reign and Trance X E 29 ( but not the Trance E+ Elite). Myself as a small frame size rider, the high standover height on these small size frames are inhibiting. How do you find the difference riding between the considerable standover heights. I wonder if Giant will market a Trance X E+ with the large battery size, in the Elite frame geometry. ( I own the original Trance eMTB in 27.5…still running fine. ) cya

TBH, I haven't paid attention to the difference in standover. I'm 5'6" and ride a medium. Not sure if that makes a difference. It will be cool to see what Giant does with its eBikes in the future.

Question for the day, did you break your chain rapid fire shifting?it’s such a hard habit to break….and is the main reason for you to break your ebike chain. My reign e need some of that action. How do you like the one up bars? Carbon or aluminum? I’m always proud when the yellow light blinks, takes a load of riding to empty a full battery.

Yo! chain: I think the chain was just old. I am pretty conscious about when and how I shift. bars: I love the OneUps. The 35mm rise and the vibration damping is so good. I think on the eMTB I have the alloy...? I think run the alloy on the Reign E and the carbon on the not-E Reign. I can't tell the difference too much between the carbon and alloy. Just nice to have something lighter on the not-E bike. And yeah, give your Reign some of that DH action. FWIW, if you have the Zeb that came on it, if it has the Charger 2 damper, it's a good idea to upgrade it to the Charger 3. I still haven't done that, and I think it's the only thing holding back the bike at all.

@@mtb_alan thx for the reply. One of the first things I did was upgrade to the 3, I can feel the difference but out of all the upgrades I’ve done, I was least satisfied with that. The mid stroke is better and the it’s more tunable, but the rear coil upgrade was much more noticeable, and I love my one up bars, definitely worth it. Also when you do upgrade to the charger 3, likely will need to change your coins, I went from 2 to 1.

We had a enduro race with and e-bike category. They had where much slower times. When will e-bikes be faster downhill to go along with their self shuttling capabilities?

That’s interesting. I certainly feel as fast. Who were the riders in the ebike category? Newer riders? That could account for it. Since I use the emtb setting on Strava I don’t get the same segments as regular mtbs, so I havent been able to compare my times. Gonna ride somewhere I’ve ridden a bunch on my mtb on the Oso but set Strava to mtb so I get the segments I’ve done to compare. Will try to post vid of results. I’ll also probably leave my results up there for a few days if they are fast to f with people who take Strava way too seriously before I delete it. Lol. I’m also looking forward to taking my Oso to bike parks this year and testing your theory. Check out my channel from time to time to see if I do a vid on it. Would be an interesting topic if I have the time.

I´m on EMTB already an enjoy it. Specially if there is no shuttleservice or lift. Here in europe even trucks aren´t common, so even organizing a private shuttle isn´t easy. But, what´s your conclusion on EMTB? You didn´t answer that :)
