Hi Jon,! Do you slightly pivot from your elbow while alternate picking (like in the intro of this video) or is the picking movement coming entirely from your wrist?

Hey! It's a mix of movements. Most of the picking motion is from the wrist but I move the whole hand via the elbow so I can keep a consistent picking angle for the tones sake. I'm a big believer in Chris Thile's way of thinking that you shouldn't lock any part of your arm up, you'll use most of it depending on what you play. At the end of the day, every good picker does it slightly to wildly differently from the next so I focus on being relaxed and accurate, if it doesn't look like my favourite player then so be it:)
