I have been diagnosed with Hypertension. Before going to the gym my BP was 148/91. After losing 20 lbs to attain 181lbs, my after cardio exercise BP is under 120/70. This week is the first week where I saw my BP 112/76, before cardio exercise. A clean Diet is definitely key complemented by weight loss. If you can eliminate sugar, do so, its everywhere.

DocM, thank you...I started on the 9thJune...I start my mornings with 16ounces of blended vegetables...I blend 5-6vegetable with lime juice , tumeric then add mango or pineapple...32 ounces... for the day...I enjoy so much,I gave up my coffee.l heat one cup water ... put in my vegetable to soften not cook then blend...I drink the pulp because it's smooth,I don't need to strain.l have one cooked meal per day and stop eating at 5pm.l never knew juice could be so good...so I get fruits, veggies and fiber all in 32ounces of juice... hope to make more changes but this is good for now.Less salt,fat and sugar... eating this way.❤🇯🇲

This is a HUGE factor in high blood pressure that is routinely overlooked: "Insulin and nitric oxide: Insulin, which helps manage blood glucose, can block nitric oxide production in blood vessels. Nitric oxide helps blood vessels expand and lower blood pressure." What this is saying is if you have high insulin, your increased insulin levels are likely to be blocking your blood vessels from making Nitric Oxide and that will lead to High Blood pressure. What causes increased insulin levels?: being insulin resistant or having blood sugar levels too high for YOU. Many times patients' blood sugar levels will come back as a lil on the high side but the doctor will determine it's tolerable and will let it go or intervene in a small way like advise a better diet and exercise. In my example, my blood sugar ran a bit high for YEARS and I had high blood pressure. I got my blood sugars down and reduced coffee and my blood pressure runs a little low now. Might be worth checking this route out.

Love this episode. Hubby had 3rd stroke a few weeks back (PFO), is on aspirin + Plavix, other BP meds. Switched to mostly plant based. My BP came down nicely, his has improved. Gotta keep doing better as we go so toothpaste will not have fluoride going forward. Thank you and the team for all you do!

Weight loss (fasting) definitely decreased my blood pressure. I already walk 14k steps daily. I only drink water....no coffee/teas/sodas or alcohol.

Thank you for this video. I did not realize de hydration has an effect on BP. I will make it a point to drink more water and eat more fruits and vegetables. I have a weakness for scrambled eggs. I am working on it. My go to meal is sauteed onions bell peppers and mushrooms with scrambled eggs. Thank you again and I purchased your book😀

Dr. Mongomery, I saw my PCP 2 weeks ago and my BP was 169/89. She prescribed me Metoprolol 25 mg at night and Losartan 50 mg at morning. I would like to diet and exercise before taking these meds. I would like to follow your plant-based diet. Can I schedule to come see you? I live in Texas. Thank you.

Thank you Dr. Montgomery. Diet and lifestyle and definitely key. My blood pressure is great when eating well and juicing. I drink a quart a day, mostly green juice. Thanks for the reminder of staying hydrated. When I'm dehydrated, I usually get a headache. Didn't think it could be affecting my blood pressure. I made a magnesium oil spray and magnesium cream to get it into my body transdermally. I hope it is helping. In your opinion, what is the best magnesium supplement to take in addition to food? Thanks.❤

You hydrate in advance and accordingly from that point as needed. More importantly it's not just water....you need sodium, magnesium and electrolytes (all in our fruits and veggies...juice and cube the pulp for tea). 💯💪🏿

Thank you for sharing this info video. These clearly were some issues that I will continue to address with my doctor. My blood pressure has gone down with the meds, wt loss, more plant based foods, added supplements, NSAIDs cessation, turmeric & black pepper. My pressure is below 120/80 with some readings under 100 over 57, pulse more under 100. I will change to nonfluoride toothpaste.

I would like just to pass some information to everybody, that has hypertension. One change made a big difference in the efficacy of my blood pressure medication. I started taking my medication at night. And now I'm in the 120 to 130, in the 70'srange, but before that. My levels were somewhere between 145 155 and 85 to 90 range. I first noticed a change after 7 days. Then probably a month later to 6 weeks. I was in the 120's

Mouthwash doesn't kill all bacteria. Mouthwash selectively kills the type of strep that is bad for teeth and gums. You are exposed to very little fluoride from toothpaste and only for a minute. The fluoride in toothpaste is sodium fluoride not stannous fluoride . Your fluoride exposure is much higher from drinking tea or tap water than brushing your teeth and fluoride before reduce cavities.

Hypertension pills are often diuretic because they help lower blood pressure by increasing the excretion of salt and water from the kidneys.

@elizabethglenbentley7882 Approximately 4,700mg of potassium is required daily. That's a lot of bananas, watermelon (loaded with fructose), and salad greens. Most potassium supplements come as a 100mg (or less) pill, which means a whole lot of pills every day. Why is it not readily available in much more therapeutic doses? Perhaps there is an agenda? Think about that.
