Three Months Off Birth Control

It has officially been three months since my Mirena IUD was removed. I was on hormonal birth control for a little over 6 years and was told I could experince some side affects with having it removed so I have been documenting my experince every month. This is a difficult video for me to share because I feel like I have failed when it comes to managing my anxiety but I also feel it is so important to share this experince so others do not feel alone. It is OK to not be OK sometimes and it is more than OK to ask for help when you need it.

Oh my gosh, don't let yourself get sucked up in the "stigma" of having anxiety. There is nothing wrong with you and doing something for yourself to help yourself is actually empowering yourself. SSRI's over time are a great help with anxiety....and they'll help with the depression aspect, too. Sometimes having so much anxiety weakens you, and you get symptoms of depression. Be proud that you did this for yourself, and encourage others on your channel to take care of themselves like this! There is no need to think you lost an internal battle....sometimes our bodies are just chemically off and need to be normalized.

Anxiety is hell. There is just no way to reason with it. I have both anxiety disorder and depression (the joys of adhd) but hands down, I’ll take the depression over anxiety EVERy day of the week sis. It’s hell on earth and I salute you for standing up and shouting out on the battlefield so we can see you x

Lauren, you’re a doll! I am 67 years old and have been on and off SSRI for 30 years! It’s so helpful when you need it and can’t get on top of the anxiety! It is the way your brain is functioning right now and you will know when you don’t need it anymore! So proud of you for seeking the help that is available! So much research has gone into these drugs and they really really do work!

Girl. Taking meds for mental health is not a fail. It's a WIN, you're getting your self back. The current state of the world has my anxiety/panic disorder working overtime and going all out with lights and confetti and a damn anxiety parade. We don't have a stigma about those who take vitamins or supplements that their body doesn't produce...i say my meds are necessary to put the chemicals in brain that are clearly lacking. Shouldn't be viewed any differently. We're gonna get thru this...eventually. Anxiety takes many shapes and forms, mine makes me shut down completely or have full blown panic attacks. And everything in between. You're amazing. You're doing the right thing.

I dont usually comment on your videos but....as a special needs mom myself and all the things that go with that on top of depression that I have battled for all my adult life I started taking meds probably 10 yrs ago when my daughter was around 2. I have had to adjust the meds a couple of times over the years and tried to wean myself off a couple time. I have just come to realize that it's just what my brain needs. A lack of serotonin can mess you up and always feel like swimming upstream. Good on you for having the courage to share it. I never realized how bad I had gotten until I got better. Take care of yourself. No need to justify anything. Just like a diabetic has no shame in needing insulin. Give it time for your body to adjust to it.

I had to start taking anxiety and anti-depressants years ago, I was feeling nauseous a week before my cycle. Doc told me that my body was holding on to stresses when I didn’t even feel like I was worried about anything. Way to go for seeking help! This is a big topic that many people are dealing with. And when people see this vlog they will feel like they can seek help too. When I started seeing a counselor I didn’t hide it because we all need someone to bounce your worries or stresses off on. You go girl!! You have many subscribers that care what your going through.

Hey Lauren, it is TOTALLY OK to get medication to balance things out a bit, so that you can align & live your best life!! There are SO MANY of us that have to do the same & there is absolutely NO shame AT ALL!! Anyone that loves you would totally understand. I mean, if you cut your finger, you need a bandage. If you have pain, there is a pill to relieve it & anxiety or many other conditiond need meds too. I've been on them for probably longer than you have been on this Earth, because I require them to be ok and so is the story of countless millions more. We live in some crazy times, so I would bet the majority of the population is either taking something similar ,or REALLY, REALLY NEED TO!! And, there are tons of comedians that do & I always think of you as a comedian! You are always so funny with things you say. Cracks me up!

Dont worry about the stigma of being on an anti-depressant. Good Grief. Im on Luvox.. I was out on a stronger one 17 years ago, for Post Natal Depression.. and taken off of it 8 years later.. Then my Mum passed away in April last year.. suddenly.... Ive been put back on 150mg of Luvox to help me sleep and come to terms with the sudden down fall into depression and anxiety. and now Im more rational and can focus and I actually sleep. The way I see it.. You wouldn't be down on medication for something like Heart medication or Diabetes.. so why for mental health? Dont see it as mental illness .. look at it as Mental Wellness. and that can only be good for You, John and Ella as a family. Love from Australia

This is super interesting to me. But makes me feel so much better! I’ve been off of Birth Control for almost 2 months now. I’ve been having a ton of panic attacks and I feel so out of control. I started coughing the other day and convinced myself I was having a pulmonary embolism or the corona virus which resulted in a panic attack in the middle of the night. I’ve struggled with my anxiety for a long time, but since I’ve stopped BC I’m having panic attacks at least twice a month. Thank you for your videos. It makes me feel like I’m not alone. Over the past week or so I’ve been considering that I might need to finally need to try meds.

If it means you feeling like your normal self before anxiety while taking medication take it for however long. Even if it's for the rest of your life. I feel so much better with it. I take 3 different medications to control mine. I love me taking my med and feel AMAZING I do not like the me if I don't. There is no shame in having to take meds for your anxiety. After my husband passed away about a year-and-a-half ago I became really anxious about everything to the point where I can barely function I went to the doctor and explains all my feelings and things I was going through and how sometimes on days I was so overwhelmed so I couldn't stop crying. She did put me on medication for anxiety and I feel it really helps you have to do what's best for you and only you know how you feel. Living the best life you can sometimes requires that you step back do what's needed. I love you and your Channel God bless you and your family

I am so happy that you are taking steps to take care of you! Anxiety disorders aren’t anything to be embarrassed about. It doesn’t mean that you don’t appreciate your life. It isn’t rational, that’s why it’s a disorder. I have been on an SSRI for a couple years now. It has made a huge difference in my life. I added CBD as well and it helps a lot too. I hope that you find something that helps calm your anxiety ❤️

Girl, so many of us are on SSRI’s for one reason or another. Me personally, it helps treat the overactive nerve autoimmune issue that I have now at 25, almost 26. I’ve been on them for several years, and it’s not because I’m “depressed” or have anything even close to a “hard” life that so many people do! I have so much family and friends support and you do too luv. One thing that helps me center or ground myself in the moment to not stress or feel anxious over potential situations you can’t control, is the app Breathe, it’s free, has a black background and orange circle as their logo, and is super simple. It helps to lower anxiety/stress by forcing your breathing to change and as a result, lowering your blood pressure and heart rate. I’ve even found it useful when I can’t shut off my brain to sleep at night because I’m a semi-broken human trying to plan my dream wedding on some sort of budget😅oh and did I mention my MOH just turned up pregnant? We are soooooo excited but it’s just like, holy crap, ALOT. 2020 ain’t playin around...

Don’t worry about being on SSRI medicine. Anxiety is not something that anyone wants but unfortunately it happens. Lauren, I was also, like you, not wanting to be put on medicine for my anxiety. I have been dealing with anxiety for well over 10 years and I’m 26 but due to certain life advances, I came to the conclusion I needed medicine to help me live my life again. Don’t worry about the stigma because you are doing what is best for you! Mental Health should be talked about more but unfortunately it’s just seen as a taboo topic. From someone who suffers with anxiety, I thank you for talking about your anxiety. If more people talked about mental health more often, I believe that it could actually become just part of normal conversation. Lauren, you are great person and hopefully you will start to be able to live your very best life! ❤️

Taking medicine for your mental health is nothing to be scared or ashamed about. I started watching you when you were consistently sharing keto videos and I'm still here 😁 I have GAD as well, and several other mental health issues, but the only medicine I can take is a super low dose of a very common, very controversial anxiety medicine, but I only take it on an as needed basis. I also have PCOS. Those two conditions are hell on their own, with outside stressors, it's even worse. Keto has helped manage my hormone issues with PCOS, and with a lot of my anxiety issues, but more so the mood swings from my other mental health conditions. And my anxiety medicine is Very helpful. So, you go girl! Keep taking care of yourself the best way for You 😘

Meds serve a purpose you should not feel bad for taking them. I’ve had to take them. I get severe anxiety the week before my period and I’m fine the rest of the month. Anxiety and or depression etc have nothing to do with how happy you are in your life. Most people don’t judge for this anymore. Embrace putting you first and be proud of taking care of mom for Ella. I just want to say, there's nothing wrong with needing help because of a chemical imbalance in your body. I've been on medication for years. We all love you, don't feel embarrassed. We're all proud of you! Also, if this med is giving you dark thoughts & more anxiety, etc., then talk to your doc, because it may not be the right med for you. The 1st one my ex tried, did that. But he went into the extreme and almost had a breakdown. He was looking up stuff online. He slept on the couch & needed me to sleep on the floor next to him. McDonald's was right down the street from us & I couldn't go that far away. Etc. We kept calling his doc, but she just kept telling us to give it more time. We called after hours and got the on call doc & he immediately prescribed something else. He said if it gives you worse thoughts & headaches & more anxiety, it wasn't the right one.

Keep ya head up sister, I’ve been on SSIs, SSRIs, and I don’t care what anyone says- if you need it, & you find the perfect combination for you, or just the one, go for it! Mental health is scary & shouldn’t be played with. I urge anyone I meet who shows symptoms of depression or anxiety to seek help. It’s better than the alternative. But also right now, this virus is super scary. I’m not going to tell you the precautions we have taken- but they’re pretty extreme. Sorry. Everyone I count on minus myself- has a compromised immune system. Take it day by day. Slow down. Breathe. That’s all we hypochondriacs can do sister. 💋

Hey girl, totally can relate with taking a very low dosage of a SSRI to help with anxiety. I took one for about a year to help me with my panic attacks as a teenager. I would love to hear more about what other decisions you are making to cope or work through your anxiety. It might be too personal, but are you trying out any kind of therapy / meditation / self care alongside the medication? So happy to see you are taking the steps to help yourself, alongside helping out everyone else

Anxiety is not fun. Mine got slightly worse with having my kids. It’s mainly at night when the house is quiet my anxiety kicks in.

I hate taking pills, too. Like, HATE IT. I recently had to start taking an SSRI after experiencing awful panic attacks that lasted days. I'm doing much better now and if taking this pill is what it takes then so be it.

I have anxiety and just been diagnosed with Autism. Some things that work for me are; multi vitamin and vitex daily, low carb diet and seeing a psychologist. I found when I was on a SSRI taking in the morning worked best. Now taking a SNRI and works best taking it in the evening. Vitex has worked wonders for PMS. I really hope things pick up for you soon. Never feel bad asking for help when you need! Xo

Thank you for sharing, I take a small dose of meds also for my anxiety. As a nurse I know it’s normal to ask for help, but I hid it for years from close friends, family even my young adult/ adult kids. I told everyone back a yr ago & no one shunned me as I thought they would. ❤️ love this for us!

Hormones make my anxiety worse. After having my 2nd I needed meds. I had to try different ones to see what works best but there is NO shame. Do what’s best for you.

As you’re talking I’m wondering what it’s like to not be able to ignore social media because it’s your job. Like I can turn off the news or ignore Instagram but you kinda have to survive in the environment. That must be hard. Sending positive and calming vibes 💜💜

Actually Lauren there are reasons for you to feel anxiety. Not many people have the courage to strike out on alternative career paths. John recently came home you probably deep down feel this go go go gotta keep going a little because now this is your primary means of income but you have your family always there to help if things went sideways which there's no reason to think they will. I think you're in a much better place than you realize. You're plenty young. If you were turning 40 it would be different but you're only turning 30 and doing all this stuff. It's the perfect time to start a business which this kind of is and you're killing it. Perspective and of course hormones. Gotta keep those in check that's just chemical, physical. No sign of weakness it's a physical problem like anything else. Relax a little. You got this.

I don’t understand this vlog. Why would you have to confess that you need a medication. You may find you need a higher dose but why would anyone in their right mind care. Do people hold it against diabetics because they can’t produce enough insulin? Your brain doesn’t produce enough serotonin. Same exact thing. I am so very glad you recognized something wasn’t quite right and sought help. We love this for you!!!!

Do you see a therapist? A SSRI in combination with therapy will definitely help. Thanks for always being honest and you don’t always have to be upbeat! We like you however you are feeling 💗

Good for you taking charge of your mental health. I think when we take medication we get ashamed embarrassed and made to feel weak. I just think that it's b/c mental illinesses aren't being normalized or talked about enough. Just needs more awareness. I take meds for my bipolar disorder which helps a lot. Sometimes we need a little help...boost as super Moms. Nothing wrong with that. Thanks for using your platform for awareness.

Medications are saving my life. I spent about 15 years with undiagnosed depression and anxiety. I’ve had and am still having a lot of great therapy, but if your brain chemicals aren’t working right then medications are necessary. My body requires a high dose of a combination of medications. My medications prescriber (a new one) wants me on a lower dose of one medication so I’m tapering it down, but I’ve had to slow down the progression because my body wasn’t happy with doing it too quickly. Too quickly for me was really slowly for a lot of people! Bodies are weird!

Don’t ever think that it’s a bad thing to be on ssri medication, you don’t know it but pretty much every second person has been on them. I personally take a lot of different things for multiple diagnoses but I’m not ashamed :) just think of it as your trying to better yourself :) no shame sister ❤️

Think about all of the tools we have in this modern time to help us in our lives. Anxiety medication is just another tool to help. I have a variety of mental illnesses and take many medications. I wish I didn’t have to but it’s saving my life so I take them. I’m just glad they are available. Hang in there.
