Nice work, once there is crash damage someone was in some stuff and probably made a mistake of some kind! Good find.

I will never like push button start systems of today's ewaste on wheels. You have to have the patients of a Saint and then some to diagnose these electronic nightmares. Kudos to you brother for keeping folks on the road. Cheers.

That was a good video. Good thing you went to that connector and unplugged it instead of going to all the modules. That bent pin would have been difficult to find.

This one was a crazy one for sure. Outside of the video this one tool a long time. Fun video overall

Good point on bent connector . Ive have seen bent connectors right after someone has connected a OBD reader and has left the connector bent after trying to use the DLC . You narrow it down. You isolated where your communication network was lost. Based on what was fixed vs. What was replaced. Understanding where a communication link was open. Between C238 and C213. Between HS and MS CAN .

I also see the problem with going after the problems all the other previous techs were chasing. Sometimes it's best to just ignore all the old stuff and start back at the top of the troubleshooting tree.

Very nice information and explanation,I have a similar one,was the steering connector,the communication wire was touching the 12 Voltage supply inside the connector,)no communication light stays on all the time.....

ALLDATA's OE is exactly like Ford's and has hyperlinks to the connector views, location views, splice locations, and ground location views.
@OzMechanics4 күн бұрын
Ive used alldata a handful of times. But im too stuck with prodemand. I’ve been using it since 2005.

More and more communication problems I've seen with you tube diagnostics. The worst are the ones that mix the high speed can with the medium can, so that a rear outside camera will shutdown the vehicle so it won't start! Can High should be separate from other Can networks. I don't care if the entertainment or rear camera systems don't work ! ! The vehicle's main function is to take us from point A to point B ! ! What if it's an emergency, the vehicle won't start, and later it's diagnosed that the entertaiment system had a problem and that shut down the whole vehicle! Check out SMA'S problem with a rear camera problem that shutdown the vehicle last week at Christmas Eve. Anyway, thanks for the video Oz.

did you ultimately have to use the new module and program it, or, was the old module fine now that the vehicle is in park? this was not clearly explained at the end
@OzMechanics2 күн бұрын
At the end the customer wanted me to put the newest one because most dealerships won’t take electronic parts back.

So , main problem was a control module water damage and bend pin in the connector ?
@mph58964 күн бұрын
Bent pin for sure. Old bcm could have been working, even with the corrosion. It's tough to tell since everything has been touched.

i thought with sgw you can still read codes but not be able to clear or do bi direction
@OzMechanics4 күн бұрын
On some sgw if the hs can line is down and you read from 6 & 14 you would get it would read good. The sgw has a separate can line

I always ask how long the car has been sitting and if it's been longer than a month, I know different people have touched it and potentially created more problems.

Looks like the 3 shops that looked at it were legit. Only the best shops use wire nuts😂
@OzMechanics4 күн бұрын
Dude when I saw the wire nuts I wanted to just give up on this one. So there’s an electrical shop that’s on a Main Street and when they can’t figure it out they always send me their hardest ones. Makes my life ever sooo more exciting

EVs are easier to diagnose They have way less junk to deal with Yes, mechanics will have to upgrade their skills but that is not new, new systems that must be learned has always been added to ice vehicles
