Earigator. There are various versions online, some cheap, some expensive. It does look easier to do with a helper, and the audiologist seems to have a camera attached.

Curious question, how do people leave the wax for so long to create the plug?

As someone who has had this issue, I can say I didnt "leave the wax for so long". I couldnt feel it and it didnt become a problem until it shifted and began to affect my hearing.
