Its a joy! She was made for this... it just took her 22-25 years to figure that out. I was deep into my 30's before I knew what I was good at. Turns out it wasn't rugby, or beer drinking. It was engineering.

I started in 2015 when I was 40. After 4 years I love to enjoy each moment with my guitar. I think the progress is very better when you join in a band. I'm in 3 bands now, just for hobby. Keep going, forget about your age - it doesn't matter. Let's Rock! That's the most important.

This might be your 3 year anniversary video, but for me, that doesn’t matter much. I have been playing almost 35 years, and watching this video brings back all the joy I had in learning the guitar. You document that joy so well and it is really incredible we live in a time that you can show the world how amazing it is to learn the guitar. There are times that I become unmotivated or just get used to having the guitar in my life. Watching your videos immediately takes me out of that funk and helps me realize how cool it is that I can play the guitar for a living... Okay now imma go play a bit a be a kid again... 😁 Just know you are not only inspiring new players of the guitar, but ones that might have lost that joy over the years, and you remind them of the reason they play. 👍

@@comical98 I'll answer for the Dog. You are not apart of the norm. You look at it differently than most do. And a great deal of those most individuals have other responsibilities to tend to. Job... Overtime... Kids... homework with kids... Wife.... House... Yard work.... The list is endless and finding time for you let alone time for learning an instrument is difficult at best and sometimes impossible. So... Discipline.

And the first 6 months of playing a guitar arent terribly fulfilling. This physically present in the girl in this video. It is almost impossible to train rhythm guitar too much. The progress in it is even less noticeable than with lead guitar. It really takes years of just playing hours and hours and hours with NO ONE saying how cool it sounds. It is like training for a marathon vs 100m dash.

Even though I’ve been playing guitar for a while now, I’ve only ever played with my acoustic or classical since I didn’t have an electric. I recently just got an electric since I’ve been getting into rock and metal lately and I feel like I have to start back at square one since I’ve rarely used a pick and know little to nothing about playing metal/rock on guitar. It’s so frustrating since I know guitar but I feel like I don’t. This is actually really motivating so thank you!

I'm in the same boat, don't sweat it! Been playing guitar for about 10 years (with some periods of laziness lol) but the vast majority of my practice was spent doing finger-style picking and acoustic songwriting just because that's what I gravitated towards at the time. Which is a shame for the real nice Fender American Standard Stratocaster I've had for the last 5 years that's not been getting the love it deserves! But now I've come back to electric I've realised the steep learning curve I've got to navigate, not just with my playing but also amp tone (makes a HUGE difference as someone commented above), effectively using my pedal board, etc. But like you say, videos like this are so motivating because it's absolutely possible with a bit of time, patience and discipline! Best of luck with your playing! I'm sure we'll be shredding before we know it :-D

@@dr.lyleevans6915 How many people have you seen go through the learning process to determine what average even is? For her age and being self taught she's killing it. Cheers folks, I'm definitely going to keep it up! 🤘I practice whenever I'm able and even when I get frustrated I'm still enjoying learning and can see improvement all the time. I'm learning through online courses at the moment but going to be booking some proper lessons as soon as I can. I love this video though. Above average or below average doesn't matter. Just seeing that change from someone who can barely string single notes together to being able to play full, awesome sounding solos... and how the full-on concentration and frustration turns to pure enjoyment and happiness... it really is inspirational to somebody like me who thought I'd never be able to play anything more difficult than Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. 😁

Hey! Usually it is ok to hit power chords pretty hard. Are you having issues with extra notes ringing out? One useful thing is to mute the other strings with your first finger at the same time as you are holding down the chord. Otherwise, my usual advice for any struggle is to just slow down the song a lot and work on whatever is tricky and then slowly speed it back up! Best of luck :)
