The original was one of my very favourite songs through a troubled upbringing. Fast forward to 2023; I have a steady income with a job I love, a baby on the way with a girlfriend who loves me back, and we're on the precipice of moving into our first home together. Stumbling upon this re-recording is like reflecting with an old friend. I really was due for a miracle. We're all gonna make it, bros.

Essentially a perfect live mix of what the band actually sounds like performing these songs onstage today: in an era dominated by heavily produced music, both rock and otherwise, this re-recording is an incredible breath of fresh air. Using such low gain distortion on the guitars and still sounding this heavy is a testament to how tight the band is, and Dustin's vocal performances have so much depth and character. As a fan of the band since 2002, and as a recording/mix engineer, this is one of my all time favorite pieces of art. Well done guys, and thank you.

still like the AOL acoustic sessions version best. dustin sounds out of practice on this album or like hes given up. coming from someone whos had their symbol tatted on them exactly 20 years now too... only 2-3 tracks that sound as good as or better than the original. his voice sounds like crap mostly on this album and the guests hearts are def not in it. ...it seriously pains me to say that also. what happened dustin?

You still have the original album and it's not going anywhere. To me this is a celebration of that album turning 20 years old and a show of appreciation to the fans that we've been given effectively for free. We should be grateful to the band for that. Also Dustin sounds amazing.

@@joshuakyrann how much does a show of appreciation? He sounds like he has down syndrome in comparison to the original lake it's terrible and a Dishonor 2 it in my opinion. But then again I'm in that massive group that stop listening to them almost entirely after this album or the maybe three songs that were good on the next album and one good song they had total after that album... I guess the little emo kids that have made mumble rap huge and like all the other nonsense that has no actual talent must really be something... I mean if you're trying to fall asleep faster the new stuff's good but that's about all it's good for other than being milotic soundtrack if you're like waiting in line to get in heaven or something. Not concert material though and definitely not in the original Spirit of thrice. They should have changed the name of the band after this album 9r kaybe Vhiessu... Image of the invisible was really the only good song on that one tho. And the creepy kid in the video that has no clear point is the only decent one after in total.. like I honestly thought the band broke up until that last song was on the radio which was the first one that was on the radio after image of the invisible...

Every band in the history of time has changed, or broken up, yet people are still shocked when that happens, somehow. I'm not trying to diss you as much as I am just echoing what I feel like is always the only correct response to someone being frustrated by something as guaranteeable as a singer's voice changing over 25 years. I feel you in the sense that my favorite era of this band was Illusion through Alchemy, and this current one just doesn't hit me the same. But I still wonder if maybe looking at your tat in the context of what it represented to you during a different time in your life (and the band's) that you may see it with a less regretful perspective. I've also got ink that, in hindsight, wasn't my best decision I've ever made, but it's a sweet reminder of who I was when I got it; and that definitely takes the edge off of the self-judgement, for me.

I hear him come in at 2:29 ("mirror that hasn't met my fist"....then the whole chorus, "waiting for a sign" echo, "I won't close my eyes" echo) and he seems to have parts until 3:00, mostly echo vocals; 3:15-outro also has him softly in the back. He might also be on every chorus, but I'm not sure, there are too many voices, but I think it's him because it doesn't sound like anyone else in Thrice .

They would destroy it like they did this album. & just lose more fans like they didn't intend to do with this pointless cash grab that was probably when the last nails in their coffin unless they go back to their roots and Dustin gets a shit together and fixes his voice so you can understand what he's saying instead of just making what is an attempt to be melodic sounds for some reason with half-assed attempts at what he used to be able to do when it's obvious he hasn't practiced his old style or he went too hard with the selling out and did what M shadows and and Matt from bfmv did.. except Matt took care of himself after the surgery and came back where is in shadows is pretty much unable to do what he used to be able to now because he cared more about the money than he did his voice & the fans. When it comes to screaming, you have to go with a certain regimen or you lose it esp of youre being melodic without the screams for so long
