I started my first piece of furniture the other day, and it was a CHORE! But the satisfaction I felt after finishing was amazing, so I'm gonna keep going. Furniture in my area is quite expensive even at thrift stores and the market is saturated with "flippers" at the moment so I'm trying to focus on unique pieces and children's furniture! Enjoy your new home! God Bless!

The dresser you looked at at the last Goodwill for $40.00 was a DREXEL Heritage. (The label was on the back) Premium maker and piece. I get top dollar for Drexel dressers. Not easy to come by.

I have never been so inspired to start a new venture, and that’s all because of you. I just flipped my first little cabinet it was just sanding and painting the piece and painting the hardware I was so proud of myself and that’s all thanks to you. Also coming home today someone threw out a beautiful nightstand all it needs is a good painting and new hardware it will be my next small project and it was free Thank you for your inspiration..

Once at a Goodwill, I saw a fancy divan/settee, but very dirty upholstery. Originally $75, marked down several times to $25. I turned over the cushions, they had to be reversed right and left. The other side was much cleaner. I didn’t buy it, but as I went by that aisle again, it was gone! I literally “flipped” it, still in the store!

You are so fortunate to have Goodwill stores that still accepts furniture. Wisconsin Goodwill stores stopped accepting furniture December 2021. So....frustrating. On the up side, items in our Goodwill stores are organized by color. Keep up the good work.

I moved from Arizona to Wisconsin and was surprised that none of the Goodwill stores seem to have furniture, but I didn't know why. This is so sad! I just looked it up, and found an article that the stores around Milwaukee stopped accepting furniture, but I'm in the Madison area and there's almost no furniture in the Goodwill stores here.

Everyone needs a break after a period like yours, I’m glad you listened to awesome followers as well as your own bodies! I love seeing you thrifting!! 🥰 It does leave me a bit frustrated about the thrift store situation here in my area in Sweden, which is mostly IKEA furniture (idk why that’s surprising haha) or other bad quality stuff. Waaay more customers than donors as well, and I’ve never been to a thrift store with a discount. That’s just not a thing here 💸😅 Anyways, I really hope you’ll take the time you both need to settle in, we’ll be here when you are ready to go again! 🥰

Hi. Awhile ago you requested info on brush cleaning. I’m a painter, & for water-based paint, I’ve always washed with Speedball pink soap (better known to artists as that pink stuff. Lol) & then when all the paint is out, wipe the water out of the brush with your fingers. Then wipe brush over The Masters brush cleaner & preserver to get some on the brush. Form the desired shape of the brush with your hands & leave cleaner in until you use brush again. For oil based paints, rinse with turpentine or turpenoid first. Hope this is helpful. Sounds complicated but it really isn’t. 🙂

Wow!! 11 Goodwill Stores!! There isn't even one near me! and 4 types of Girl Scout Cookies? Thanks for taking us along! So fun to see the prices.

There are more than 4 kinds of Girl Scout cookies in the US. She only bought 4 kinds. In the US they only sell them once a year I believe. Idk how your goodwill furniture prices are so low. I don't think I've seen furniture for under $200 at the ones around me. But there are a few other stores, I think one is called Habitat Restore or something- it has Everything a home could need that's all second hand, and priced to Move. Windows, doors, furniture, all the knobs/pulls/you name it, tile, really, everything you could imagine. A lot of the furniture moves fast, but they have a ton of china cabinets and old school entertainment centers all the time
@campfireaddict64172 жыл бұрын
Habitat ReStores totally rock and they frequently have 50% off furniture that's already priced low plus the last time I was in one they had tons of excellent drawer pulls for 50 cents each, the kind that go for $7 - 8.00 at Lowe's or Home Depot. Some of them also have DVD's, CD's, housewares, lawn & garden, lamps, paint, flooring, bed frames, sinks, pictures (sometimes I buy one for the frame), tons of stuff and usually lower priced than thrift stores.
@lindap90792 жыл бұрын
WOW! you have a lot of Goodwills. Occasionally, I make a day of it, drive a 50 mile loop hitting all 8 that are in my area. Do you ever play what I call "the wait & see game"? I like it but, I'm not willing to pay the asking price. I might be persuaded to make a purchase if its been marked down. So I wait & see.
