The pics of the chair needed more styling and like everyone said, a cushion would've helped. But I think it had potential. You should make this 3 days. 1 day to find. 1 day to flip. 1 day to sell.

Concept for this is genius, it just needs more time to bring in the most money. a day to get, 2 days to fix, 3 days to sell (flipping for funds in 1,2,3). any charity is amazing, but maybe film going there and show a clip and provide info how to donate so in addition to what you donate, others can be impacted and also jump on the donate train? loved kelsey's versatility in her bench!

our local Habitat does that to some degree - they have volunteers come in and make crafts out of random supplies - they paint on all kinds of items like dishes, wood slices, old saws, etc and they make really lovely floral arrangements and wreaths out of random bits and pieces. I can’t with Becky’s chair. The “cushion” is just a board with the most minimal amount of fluff. I also noticed the chair was super wobbly and she did nothing to improve the stability. Buyer probably only paid 50 because they knew they would need to add a new cushion

This was so fun, yes, please do it again, make it a regularly occurring event, please. The bench turned out really cool, and Becky‘s chair was virtually unrecognisable from the pitiful state it was in before. Great work!

How much do I hope flipping for funds becomes a thing 😊
@Lasomie
@Lasomie 3 жыл бұрын
I hope not. These free items are such a good opportunity for low income people to have furniture, people unlike Kelsey and Becky
@LaughingInTiny
@LaughingInTiny 3 жыл бұрын
@@Lasomie this is true. I think about that a lot as a former picker upper off the side of the roader... But there are a LOT of free items out there that find their way to the landfill. There are also a ton of programs (at least in Canada) for small income people /families to work with for furnishings. W.I.N for example will furnish an entire home if needed. If more people could see this sort of thing as a legit pass time, like a game, it would be fantastic as a way to divert useable pieces from the landfill. Plus the idea is to donate the funds. That's the part I was supporting, not only the flipping part. What I was promoting is the concept of people making a game of this and donating the proceeds. Imagine if THAT became cool. To be Eco, thrifty and give back as commonplace. Throw a hashtag on it and see if we can make it happen. 🌎😎🎉

I loved the bench. It turned out great. The chair however doesn't even look structurally stable when she sat on it. The wood looked rotten in many places. £50 is still a lot of money for that. I wouldn't have bought it. I think becky could have done better. Kelsey won in my opinion.

Agreed. And that fabric wrapped wood panel is NOT a cushion!?
@lissq2769
@lissq2769 3 жыл бұрын
I think the bench worked better because it was structurally sound already and was just sort of restyled whereas the chair looks wobbly and the seat looks unfinished because there was a lot more needed doing, I think it would be better to allow yourself some more time so you can get a better standard. Also maybe you could do one together and see if two heads are better than one?
