I made your sandwich bread without a breadmaker. You just put the ingridients into the mixer, knead for a few minutes. Divide the dough into three pieces and let it rise in a greased loafpan for 30 min. Preheat the oven with a bowl of water to 425°F. Bake for 5 min at 425°F, reduce the heat to 350°F and bake for 40 min.

I love that both you and your husband are so frugal. I am too and love buying pre-loved items. However, my husband is so against buying used clothes and shoes for our kids. He grew up poor and worn a lot of hand-me-downs and stuff from yard sales and thrift stores. We’ve worked so hard especially him to get to where we are and still frugal. But he said when it comes to our kids, that’s where he’ll draw the line and want things brand new for them 😔 Kids outgrow their clothes so quickly and I hate paying for regular prices.
@OldWorldHome3 ай бұрын
Everyone has their own preferences. Like you said, kids outgrow things so quickly and once they wear a new item once, it's used right? I have found such lovely high quality items secondhand!
@lovingsunshine35153 ай бұрын
@@OldWorldHome oh I have too. I think my husband associates thrifting for kids’ clothes as a reminder of financial struggles when he was a kid. He still remembers and talks about how embarrassed he was to show up at a classmate’s house to buy his old clothes at their yard sale. So when we had kids, he’s always put his foot down on this matter and I just let it go. We are frugal in other ways but not when it comes to our kids’ clothes. Although I thrift for their winter coats bc they hardly wear those things except when we have snow. I don’t like paying $40+ on something that will only be worn once or twice since we don’t get a lot of snow where we live. I love thrifting like you do especially for household items.

You should be able to make the bread in the oven with no problem. Just use the bread machine to mix the dough and a first rise. I do this all the time because the recipe I have makes 1 loaf and 12 buns or 2 loaves. I actually prefer it this way. I bake at 350 until golden brown on top.

Yes, it has been a goal for many years, and maybe one day we'll make it happen, but we haven't put in the effort to get the infrastructure in place yet. I have made English muffins a few times. What works best for me id to put the dough in the fridge for a few minutes to get cold before you roll it to cut. I also recommend using cornmeal to place on the bottom of the cookie sheet when rising the English muffins before cooking. Turning down the heat and cooking them for about 4 minutes on each side works great every time.
