Domestic violence doesn't only happen to "uneducated" women, sometimes it happens to the professional woman , she even maybe the breadwinner of the relationship! Your comment about how your mother didn't teach you how to cook and about how she told you to get an education and not to depend on a man is like a slap in the face to anyone that has suffered domestic violence of any kind. It's a lovely thing that you have never experienced domestic violence but as such it's something you seem to know nothing about, it would be best to keep your underhanded comments to yourself.

Heaven only knows just how many women continue to be abused in 2024. 😢😢😢Sorry, even Police Officers and the Courts don’t always have our best interest even when there are children involved. The system is far from fair which is why women continue to suffer in silence 😢That excruciating pain that often leads to an unbearable depression…So many of us so afraid and embarrassed that we don’t even seek the medical attention we desperately need. It would have been so hard for her to be told she's not allow to tell anyone where she is hiding let alone try to get the children. I don't understand why men do this they hurt then they say sorry then they do it again and again. Only way to stop this is to GET OUT!!! So many women around the world never got out! There is HELP its important to have the courage to REACH out and say I need HELP! That's all it takes...Bless Maryanne Walker for finally standing up the support around her is what she needed. I agree with you. Once a man starts to abuse you like this, he is not going to stop and it will only going to get worse. Staying with a man like this and having children only makes matters worse as they will suffer from depression and anxiety and other mental disorders. I found that calling the police and getting a restraining order does not really help. They will eventually find you and the sad part is that the victim usually dies. Our judicial system in America is too lenient when it comes to 'ABUSE'. They need to change the law and make sure the abusers receive an appropriate sentence, not Community Service, and also they desperately need counseling for Anger Management. Women should never be ashamed to speak up.

She was unable to defend herself neither me and my younger and older brothers and sisters do. He also used to beat us to the ground. He never knew the reason why he was in such situation but maybe he used to be a drank. Once he was tempered and attempted to kill my older brother with very few reasons. From then onwards he stopped. And sadly womens rights are being taken away right before our eyes. Many think it's all about "pro choice." It's like they've forgotten that it wasn't long ago in America that a man's wife was viewed as his property. Not even in the 70s could a woman's finance be considered to purchase a property. I don't know why women want us all to go back to these times. I wish those who want to would do it and leave the rest of us out of it.

I forgot what a good actress Joanna Kerns is and so pretty she is. This movie is like a victory and escape for women of domestic violence. I cringe when people say "why doesn't she just leave? When you are at the fists of someone you are petrified of everyday you tell me. Also I am watching movies to escape all the terrible things happening. I pray for all those women and children caught. Please I wish they could all know that.

I couldn't watch this! My anger was boiling over ... It's absolutely terrifying and traumatic for young children to see their mother or father being beaten by the other parent, especially when it happens frequently. The stress, the paralyzing fear, the helplessness, the wishing desperately all the yelling and screaming would stop, the embarrassment of other people knowing what happens in their house, and the shame that comes with it. The ways in which children, and the parent, can carry this trauma and shame throughout their lives, such as repeating the cycle / pattern of abuse, or turning to toxic substances like drink, smoking and drugs to cope. It's awful! Much more needs to be done by the authorities and the system to protect the victims of domestic violence

It's actually easy to understand. Especially a woman with children. You love someone. You give up a career to bring up your children. You love them nore then anything. Your husband abuses you and you know he may take your children from you or worse kill you and eventually abuse your children. You have little money, maybe the worst if you have no family to help you out. That's how this happens. And everyday it's happening. The laws are getting better but still are stacked against these woman. Thank God for these shelters.

My mother was a survivor of domestic violence. I can relate to this sad movie it made me cry because my evil bastard dad hit my mum and emotionally abuse me. He is a evil monster he hit his wife and he is scaring his kids. She is a good mother she love her kids and want to protect her kids. She has the right to take her kids away from their violent father. She doesn't deserve to be lock up in prison and she didn't nothing wrong. Her evil monster husband threaten her and she ended up in hospital and nearly died. She should call the cops and charge him for physically abusing her. He deserve to be lock up in prison for a long time. His got a bad temper and he is not sorry and he will hit her again. She deserves to live in peace with her kid's.

The abuse of women (& children ) continues today ... June 9, 2024. And despite the reality of some progress the strong & overpowering anchor that holds back the true capacity for much needed progress, still exists. Overturning Roe vs Wade & now pending legislation to ban access to birth control are reflective of the strong undercurrents of what also leaves battered & abused women still very vulnerable... and the resources for help are dangerously challenged by rapidly escalating demand. There is still much work to be done ... the battle is far from over 🥀
