“Know” and the vocalise version(aka. “Ascolta La Voce”) shares a melody, but it’s a different kind of performance in all other aspects, with a more personal twist to the instrumentation as well(that I think Richard will appreciate). You know when an artist does a spontaneous riff/run during a live performance? It’s basically that, but a whole song of it. You’re getting to watch him “paint” with his voice in real time based on whatever he’s feeling in the moment, and it’s as fascinating as it is beautiful. I can’t really think of a better way to explain it, but it’s definitely something you should watch before Budapest.

This was so much fun!!❤ Suggestion for a song to pair with “Know” (vocalize) next week: there’s a Fan Cam recording of an Armenian folk song Dimash performed at his Yerevan concert last year. It’s short, but it’s such a beautiful, emotional song. There’s a part where he mimics the sound of the Duduk. I think the song is called “Sareri Hovin Mernem” “I’ll Die for the Wind of the Mountains”.

Yes, absolutely! This song would go beautifully with another traditional folk song fro Kazachstan „ Samaltau” . None of them will likely be on the tracklist for the May concerts, but the do show you his truly incomparable artistry. These performances are a spiritual experience.

Battle of Memories would pair well with it - if you could do the official music video and then a live version, that would be great! Another great song that is a must prior to the concert is Give Me Love ("Mahbbat Ber Magan" in Qazak), not to be confused with Give Me Your Love. I've heard so many artists who try to cross over into other genres, and it may be a fine effort, but it most often just doesn't really get there. DQ is the only artist I've heard who can crossover and mix so many genres legitimately.....For someone known for soaring vocals and great ballads and anthems, to change this drastically in style and to do it so phenomenally - the rap section is as great as any full time rapper, just astounding - the lightness and timing and rhythm on the MJ/QJ dance vocals is stellar!!

You should do several versions of “Know” imo. With lyrics, do new Wave 2019 (he’s in a white suit) and the official MV. Without lyrics, do the Vocalise from the Kiev concert 2020 (before the Russian invasion). It’s the one with a waterfall on the screen in background. For “Battle of Memories,” do the official MV (from a Chinese movie), and the live version from his NY concert or more recently from Macau (he’s in a pink suit). Thanks!

I absolutely LOVE Be With Me, I think it's genius! I like Give Me Your Love, I think it's a very solid pop song. Between the 2, Be With Me is definitely my pick. Right before the fight/rap section, there is a little bass riff & the background singers come in - pure genius, the way that then leads into the slower groove, with its really weird vibe, during the fight/rap scene! There is another song called Give Me Love; completely different song, a truly beautiful ballad in Kazakh. I really love the performance from the Dimash Digital Show 2021! Richard and Johnny ..thanks much for your deep dive into Dimash's music 🙏🎼🙏 There are two songs that he sings in all his concerts. I have seen complete videos of at least ten of his concerts (some more than once) and he does these songs in each of them. These are laid back, mellow ones where he doesn't use his wide range...but the songs are beautiful and emotional 😍💞💖 1. If I Never Breathe Again - he sings it for and to his dears. You'll understand when you read the lyrics 2. Mahabbat Ber Magan - kazakh song meaning Give Me Love in english, is asking destiny to give him love. Dimash normally involves his dear audience to sing the chorus with him on this one. You might enjoy that experience if you learn those lyrics... I so want to experience that and attend Dimash's concert...specially in Istanbul on his birthday but can't afford to at this time. I'm very patiently and anxiously waiting for his concert in the USA 🥰🌈🌷

For recommendation what goes well with Know/Vocalize, I would say Samaltau. There are countless versions of Vocalize as he‘s doing it differently at every concert, my favourite one is still from Arnau in Kyiv. Samaltau from Tokyo Jazz festival and from the Silk Road film festival are my favourites. Looking forward to next week 🤩

Thanks a lot. these two songs are also not in my top ten Dimashs songs, cause of they're funky vibes (i'm a metalhead)... but... it's Dimash, he's still great (even if he'll decide to sing all the words of the dictionary in the alphabetical order!!!). If you'll make a new Dimashaton, i could give you some "thematic" ideas : the young Dimash (before "i'm a singer" : My Beauty, Jamaica, Tugan Zher, My Swan (in duo), Forest of Behavezha (duo), my Homeland (duo), Cherishing you... ), Dimash & Igor (you have already done Know, Olimpico and love of tired swans.... still to do : Know - the MV and the vocalisation version, no lyrics - love is like a dream, Mademoiselle Hyde, Passionne, Where love lies, Miss you, Your love, Ti amo cosi as a trio with Aida Garifulina AND Lara Fabian, or Ulysse as a duo with Aida), Dimash covering great western songs (Show must go on, Queen Medley as a quatuor, My heart will go on, Hello, All by myself, Adagio, tribute to MJ live, earth song as a duo - 2 versions), the Kazakh songs (Dudurai, Samaltau, Durduraz, Omer Otir, Zhalyn, Quairam Elim, Akkyum, Maxabbat ber Magam...), the Chinese songs (Only you, our love - at the TV show masked singer - meaning of etrnity, restart my love, moonlight mother, the crown, ocean over the time, eternal memories, just let it be, Thousand of miles... and Jasmine : Dimash did few versions of this one, alone or in duo), in english (Okay, Screaming - 2 versions, the MV and the Idol hits version - together - by and with his brother - If I never breath again, couldn't leave, Lay down), Dimash With other singers (so many duo/trio/quator... too many to name all of them : with Sundet, Aida, Aida and Lara, Zarina, Wu tang, Tengri, Wei Wei, Tia Rey, Jan Hsaio, Alisher... and his parents!!! ).

That Digital concert is the only concert I’ve “been to” by Dimash. But it was great lol. Hoping he comes to the US again soon, last time he was here in NY I had only just heard of him and could not make it up there in time 😭

I know you're doing the Ultimate Dimash Guide, FYI LiLaSI is now releasing a Triology of videos too (firt two episodes already released), especially Part 1 is relevant to watch before the concert. For Know Vocalise I also would suggest going to LiLaSi's channel if you want to see different versions. She got a video of Know where she put several performances of the song together, it will show you both Dimash's consistancy and ability to improvise.
