Just a tip, you can get more skill conversion books by transferring to a server you haven't been on. So if your region has 5 servers, you can claim 60 skill conversion books by transferring around with free transfer up until October 17

The open world you couldnt die if you tried. I saw soda just running thru packs of higher level mobs and never going below 90%. It may not be a deal breaker for anyone but if there isnt any challenging content i see zero point in grinding for better gear on the hamster wheel.

The thing I dislike about progression paths that lock you in hard like this is balance patches. All it takes is being on the bad side of a balance patch one time, and you're now stuck with this sub par character you worked hard on while being practically forced to pay money to switch to something better.

True. It always felt this way for WoW. It wasn't bad if you played a mono type like mage, because it's a matter of switching between fire or frost, usually. Not that different. But if you liked shaman it was rough. You might be really into melee. If all of a sudden ranged was the build then everyone expects that and expects you to switch. But ranged wasn't what you liked. And then there is always the pressure to heal which is nothing at all like melee. At least in this I suppose eventually you'll hit max on your weapons and skills for one set that you could build another because you have so many extra stuff laying about.

I don't see the difference between this and having hard class system like WoW. If you care about meta you're gonna make alts anyway. Here at least you have a chance of having everything you like on a single character, which is what I prefer, I hate alts. I think FF14 is the most player friendly in this and many other regards.

I changed at 50 and didn't have any real setback i just threw my blue weapon into my new purple and you get free skill books to transfer your skills from one weapon to another. The only issue is the mastery and you can farm that fairly easy.

How is this different from picking a class you think you would like in any MMO, investing time. Not liking it and restarting on another character. Here you pick a class "weapons". Feel it out, do not like it and start over.

Id say the difference is the new class would take you the same time to level as the previous one (if not less), while here, you dont get all the extra rewards from the main quest that allowed you to improve your first class quick

Bad advice, never transfer low gear to higher gear until the previous has been maxed out. Get green to max then transfer to blue. Repeat blue to purple.

@@MomenHidra If you're doing it the first time and take your time anywhere between 24-72 hours. For casual gamers on secondary characters around 16-18 hours for a relaxed experience. Pros do it in 4-6 hours but then they're skipping things that you might just have to catch up with later.

Not sure where to find a build guide, as the Korea servers are a bit ahead of the global ones, and I'm not sure a guide from there would be applicable. You should try Lineage2 if you think TnL is unforgiving for deciding what class to play as this is basically Lineage3 Gearing and progression in this game is walk in a park even if you want to swap... You can fully swap your weapon choice when you go to next tier of gear for example from rare to epic, or later from epic to epic t2. Only thing you will need to do is to level your skills and get some weapon masteries, it's really not that hard.

Exactly! Before DT I had everything at max level but 6 Jobs, over 30 jobs all up I maxed and had no issues. Eso is the only game I have played where you can just switch weapons, but that has a completely different skill tree setup

Ehhh skill mastery system doesn’t seem like a problem to me - just a feature. Which if you look at it from an unbiased perspective is pretty normal in old school MMOs. You’ve only been using greatsword? Ok great, your greatsword “skill” had leveled up, but your other “skills” haven’t. It actually makes perfect sense I think it’s better to look at it like OSRS, there’s a ranged skill, melee skills, and magic skills. If you go from level 1-50 only using melee, once you decide to train ranged you’re going to be weaker and are going to have to train on weaker monsters. I actually quite like this when I think about it this way and I think it gives the game more longevity, giving people a reason to stick around to have to train up their weapon skill

Everyone chasing that feeling of progression and camaraderie. Maybe one day we'll have an MMO that doesn't have soul crushing systems designed to punish you at every turn.

Hey LazyPeon, just an unknown tip, when you are enhancing purple gear don't transfer the +9 blue to the gear until your purple gear is lvl 7 with 20%, that way you will reach lvl 9 with the transfer, saving a crazy amount of resources and skipping the most expensive levels, just discovered this today with some trial :)

The gameplay looks as fun as I WISHED New World played like. But I'm really nervous for if it ends up like Lost Ark in terms of monetization. The game is absolutely not new player or single player friendly. All the best content and gear is in guild activities so if you don’t have 100s of hrs to put into your guild and be at there every beck and call you might as well not even play. Guilds don’t wait around for people to be ready and even if you are you might not even get what you want. Unless of course you’re a content creator or streamer. They make mmos seem a lot better than they actually are. The grind in this game is also incredibly slow and tedious. It’s a complete shit mmo but millions will flock to it because they have no self control or self respect.

Weapon advice is stupid. You can basically use everything you want, the only thing that really matters is the endgame build. You can reroll even after 10+ days and you'll be fine. This is the thing that kr player with 3k+ hours in the game said.

If youre gonna switch up your build, you need to do so with the mindset that that youre basically starting from scratch. Just like how in FF14, your classes dont level alongside eachother or in WoW youd have to make a new toon. T/L has the same thing, just a bid different. Switching up builds is very much feasible in T/L even in the late game, you just need to know what you need to work on to get your alt over. Ive been working on a tank and a healer build at the same time since EA launch and bother are at 2k power lvl with rather realistic playtime over since.

I assume they wanted to increase playtime and player retention when looking at what a pain switching weapon combos is. Mastery should have a minimum level based on the character level, just like Last Epoch is doing it with skills. Definitely not a game for me as it is.

Isn’t the weapon mastery similar to simply changing classes in another game though? Switching jobs for example in FFXIV also starts you down to the base level for that job and you have to level it up from scratch so I’m not sure how this is an issue, especially for people who enjoy leveling other classes in other MMO’s. I haven’t played the game so it could be I’m just totally misreading this but it seems to be about the same.

is this even that big a deal? I haven't played the game or done a lot of research, but I just feel like its like leveling alt jobs in XIV except its weapons. If you're really into the game you'll have your mains and then level up the others over time if you like to do that. The skill books being tied behind dailies and stuff are also reasonable. idk I just don't see it as that bad if you're someone who likes to devote themselves to 1-2 games and really get deep into them instead of jumping around a ton of them all the time. Like... is there anything preventing players from maxing out every skill over time?

So there is already wrong info in the first 2 mins of the video. You get like 20-30 weapon skill change coupons. That means you can absolutly change your class if you decide to play something else at lvl 50. The only thing that gets lost is the weapon mastery. But you wont have a high mastery level anyways when you are fresh at 50 (I think i was at lvl 5 when I hit 50).

It really is hard to play other MMOs after having put so many hours into Guild Wars 2. Playing an MMO that doesn't have you running on a gear treadmill really is the MMO equivalent to leaving the Matrix. You just don't see gear progression as a necessary thing anymore and see it for the carrot on a stick manipulation to keep you playing the game that it is.

The game appears to check alot of boxes for me. However, as a huge pvp player mainly, i just cant play a p2w game. I see alot of comments about " why are people mad others have the money to spend in these games" and thats a ridiculous statement. It is in fact a game, and paying to get good gear defeats the entire purpose.

I chose Wand/Crossbow currently level 23 and enjoying the combo so far. I aimed for healing/DPS and both weapon choices feel good for that purpose.

To be fair, weapon mastery 1-5 seems to go really fast and can be done after a few dungeon runs. After 5 it starts slowing down dramatically. Also, there always seems to be an abundance of books, so i haven't had any issues with skills, at least not yet, you can always break down blue books for greens, and then combine them back to blue if you need to with very little currency loss.

there is an exodus of BDO players into T&L after their game had the PVP removed from it by devs. You /you/ might not like T&L cause of pay to win, BDO folks are used to that

They use the same weapons system as Albion online. Since its no classes you need to lvl up your weapons which makes sense. Regular mmo you lvl up your warrior, wizard and ranger seperately. This game you lvl up your wepon combo seperatly. So in the end its kinda the same.

Sorry but changing the class is easier that you told the audience.. You can get stones to completely transfer your weapon mastery.. And lvling up skills takes not that long to go since you will go to dungeons anyway and you will do okay everytime......

This is how we used to play before class system got introduced, look at shaiya, perfect world, silkroad online and so on...this is the holy trinity system, based of healer, dps and tank !

Thanks for the heads-up, been looking into this game for the past couple of days and it looks really fun but sounds like they have some things to iron out. I can deal with that. I like the idea of it being hard to level multiple weapons, because it encourages specializing. I wish the game would do a better job at conveying that difficulty, though. I can't wait to try this out on PS5.

For masterys couldn't you just switch to the weapon you want to level, and consume those mastery potion things? You don't necessarily have to use the actual weapon

The trait system isn't confusing. Basically, you can use duplicates of the same item to unlock traits on the item you want and then use duplicates of that trait to level it up. If you use an item of the same tier (grey, green, blue, purple), you get a 100% success rate for leveling that trait. Alternatively, you can use an item with the same trait, but one tier lower, which gives a 10% chance of success, or an item two tiers lower, which gives a 1% chance. Using these lower-tier items does not damage the target item, but the items used in the process are destroyed. Additionally, there is a "pity" mechanic for failures, so as you fail, your chances of success increase. Therefore, if it’s cheaper, you can use lower-tier items to help level item traits. Hope this helps.

I think the game is a waste of my time. It's just terrible. As a teenager, I would've enjoyed this for sure.
