Forged internals in a min gen 3 3SGTE, keep the car blue and I swear I will never miss an episode! As can see from my avi pic of my turbo blue 2s on white rims are the best!

I have a 90’ RHD MR2 and it by far my favorite car I own, there is something about MR2s that make it one of the best cars ever created. I say keep it simple and clean, 3sgte on some quality coils and some nice wheels and tires and you should be good. As for exterior, a lip kit, some greddy skirts, autopista wing and kouki tails.

My mr2 is 2gr fe swapped. Personally I prefer the deeper sound of a v6 but the smoothness of the 4th gen is great, easy to get power out of it. As for the body mine has the greddy gracer kit but I was also looking at kaminari kit. I know it look and sound great anyway you guys go with though👍🏼

2GR-FE you’ll get close to 300hp on a stock motor. I have a 2GR myself I plan on fully building the engine though I wanna go with a turbo but need to get a custom manifold built .

2GR-FE for sure! C'mon, the sounds is amazing, there is some exhaust fab work required, you can buy premade ones if you need. There are some comprehensive guides you can plan your build on.

Over 400whp the block will most likely crack on the 3Sgte. Go with the 5sfe block and crank and the 3sgte head is the way to go. And ATS Racing is the guys Who knows everything about tuning and building the 3sgte

I have a almost complete black interior from a 92 turbo model. Yes they are different then a non turbo. available dash/firewall carpeting, storage bin covers, door panels, rear speaker covers but I'm located in Wisconsin

I Love the idea of painting the montigo blue, it would be awesome color for that car. The big brake kit idea would be nice but keep in mind that you can only fit 18” all around. When I had mine; I was running 19x8 in front19x9.5 back and at full lock, the front wheels get stuck on top inside the fender. Neither to say that watching this series has bring back a lot of memories and I’m planning to get another Mr2 soon when I move to the States from Puerto Rico!! Keep up the videos!

Thanks for not going with a body kit! I have an original 95 turbo and the front lip is perfect with the rest of the body once lowered a tad! Two nice interior mods are getting the metal mr2 anniversary sills and putting the leather inserts in the doors. Not the puffy looking leather inserts, but the ones that have the perforated later! Also one more nice interior upgrade in uprading the door strickers to the lexus chrome strikers with the plastic covers that cover the striker bolts and the lexus chrome door handles! All these upgrades are subtle and arent over doing it, but just bumps the interior quality look classy and not over doing it!

Should keep blue, but consider the TRD rear wing and the exterior mounted engine scoop- Tom's style turbo inlet driver side (personally I think one looks best instead of two) and you can get both in carbon fiber. Those were Jdm original pieces that can be found on ebay. Keep up the good work!

I'd say the 3sgte is probably one of the best motors for this car, I think a 2zz turbo would be a decent upgrade aswell, as they have that motor in the more modern mr2 spyder

Man I’m sooo hyped for this build. I myself have a 92 Mr2 with a 3sgte rev 2 sitting in my garage in need of some body work! This project is really starting to give me the motivation I need to finish her up and get her in the road this up coming summer! Suggestions: - go with the rev 4 3sgte (Caldina) has the most potential. - trunk mount intercooler - gen 2 4Runner brake master cylinder - keep the blue, possibly a deep metallic blue

Check the top tip seals because the interiors fill regularly with water. I think that's why you have those stains on the floor of the car. I had a Mr2 from the year 91 with a Japanese engine. I could not tell you what generation it was. The engine was turbo with ceramic coat pistons. I love that car. I will follow your project to enjoy the final result. Success for your team !!

Having my own sw20 and knowledge in the community a common upgrade is the turbo brakes for the 3sgte and disks and redstuff ebc components are a good upgrade for the sw20 chassis.

In my opinion, it should be laguna seca blue or candy doff paint with white te37 / ce28n / rpf01 / nt05+. Stoptech bbk, carbon rear trunk / engine cover, voltex swan neck wing, carbon cannard, and rear diffuser, dont forget the screamer pipe from bov poke out from engine cover. 3SGTE is a must!

Swapping to the 3Sgte is a great idea the 3s is a brilliant engine & easy to workwith. With the added bonus of being a none-interference engine aswell. The basic 4 pot brakes are more then capable for the mr2, you don't really want to put huge amounts of power down as the car is incredibly nibble as stock 3-400bhp is easy with 3sgte add water injection for abit more safety with increased boost levels. keep the styling clean & it'll be hard to beat even with it being a 90's car. Also going huge on wheels is a silly idea as it'll kill the handling of the car.

Gen 4 3S-GTE is the way to go! If you're wanting to do a turbo upgrade on that engine, you'll need an exhaust manifold, since the stock manifold also has the turbo exhaust casting a part of the manifold - so you'll need a turbo manifold, unless you do just the core and compressor housing.

Bdw the body kit of the blue mr2 in the thumbnail is called Ask sports. Nobody has of yet done the rear fenders. Campos vasques does the fronts. They look amazing.

Love the plans! Perfect engine. Might I suggest looking into a 2gr-fe from an 2011-14 Camry/Avalon? Compression ratio is decent 11:1, aluminum block, perfect for turbo upgrade. You can also get a used 2008 rx350 engine.

Fully support the 3sgte swap my friend had the jdm spec 3 which is different than the usdm spec. But any 3s is dope. He puts down like 320 wheel with a slightly bigger turbo injectors and some other mods

YESSSSS. I am excited for this build as I have a stock 1991 non turbo mr2 which is automatic but right now I have it stripped down to basically fix everything from top down and inside out. Working on fixing some rust as well as other damages for repaint on the whole car. I also planned in the near future to swap to the gen 4/5 3sgte which means I am converting it to manual.

JDM Legends had a gorgeous MR2 on display at the SLC auto show this weekend. I'm pretty sure it had some wide body front fenders. It was classy as hell looking. You should check it out if you can find it online.

Use a slider mount and put an iPad mini in as your radio. Head unit mounts behind it inside the car. Kinda looks like a Tesla infotainment screen. Google iPad slider mount. I think there is a shop in Florida or Cali that makes them

PleasepleasePLEASE go with the 2GR. You are not ready for the turbo mr struggle. Make sure you get an E153 gearbox, upgraded rear subframe(1991+) with longer swingarms, complete wiring harness from a turbo model. However if you choose the gen4 3sgte, you will have to relocate tbe alternator. Save the bracket from the original engine. Hit me up if you have any questions

Just so you know, you can paint interior plastics with plasti dip and it will look like a factory finish, and it's removable aswell, I'd say new carpet for sure and new seats new radio etc

So here are some pointers I have a highly modified 2 so know some things about them Brakes: 93+ turbo calipers will be good enough, you can upgrade to RX8 front disc on the rear with a kit as the weight is in the rear this helps. Suspension: The car is super lightweight so any coilovers make the ride very firm and while great for the track not ideal for street. High quality set of shocks and springs are a much better idea. Motor: K swaps are common and great for being able to get lots of aftermarket parts however the 3SGTE also makes a ton of power and plenty around, a Caldina 3SGTE would be a good option with upgraded internals. My preference is for the V6 turbo option as it has tq and power.

My 93 mr2 with a gen3 3SGTE is pushing 400hp/E85 on unopened engine. Gen4 have weak rods. If your not going over 500whp.the stock mani will hold up...

Tcs motorsports sell alot of cool mr2 parts. Including a pretty cheap 4 pot wilwood brake kit. Also check out mr2 heaven for nice interior and exterior parts. Might i also suggest that the best lipkit you can get for the Sw20 is the greddy kit💯

dont use the NA brakes... big difference compared to the gen3 turbo ones... but i would bypass them and go straight to the Nissan twin pot from a 300zx or r33 front caliper and a gen3 rear caliper (22V)... THATS WHTA YA NEED

YESSS 4th gen 3sgte all the way!! Absolutely love that engine. Great for reliability and making power. I have a celica st185 of my own with a gen 2. Super quiet and smooth engine can never go wrong with Toyota!! Just look at the Castrol Supra no 2j all 3s!!!!!!!

You should look at the 8ar-fts turbo 4 cylinder found in Lexus nx200, or the 2gr-fe V6 found in the newer Toyotas. I'd prefer the V6
