Your reviews of Ferraris are the reason why I trust you more than literally any other journalist. You’re able to fully admit this it’s practically a perfect sports/super car, but aren’t die hard apologists who are willing to pass off the interior UI as merely quirky or “difficult to get used to.” Can’t wait to see you drive the Artura - sounds like it’s less exciting of a car but maybe is actually liveable (assuming it works properly)??

What's absurd is that manufacturers are ditching hard buttons right as cars are getting incredibly quick and responsive. When you're traveling so quickly and don't have much time to use the use the controls, that's exactly when you want hard buttons you can use by feel. McLaren still understands this, and that is one of their advantages over Ferrari. I remember someone at Audi being asked why the e-tron GT has more physical buttons compared to other Audis and they said because the e-tron GT is so quick and physical buttons are easier to use in a very quick car. Capacitive touch buttons are ok to use when stationary but inappropriate when moving.

thank you both for another *well done* and, most importantly, *_honest_* review! I gotta say, it was really refreshing hearing someone *_finally_* call out the Ferrari's interior (namely the controls) for what it is. I fully understand and recognize how good the rest of the car is, however, I'm sick of every Automotive journalist turning a blind eye or giving it a pass when it is genuinely *so bad!* Yet, they will absolutely _roast_ cars like the Corvette, in previous generations due to the interiors "feeling cheap" and in the c8 because they "just don't like" the center button stack. I'm not saying they are necessarily wrong about either point, but it just seems silly to me to hear complaints about an inexpensive sports car having an inexpensive interior and the people who own c8's that I've heard from all say the center stack becomes extremely simple and is quite intuitive pretty quickly. in contrast to the prancing horse here that can cost 5...6+ times as much and is almost impossible to operate without taking your eyes off the road.

Reviewers have these cars for a couple days and unlike most guys that pay $400,000 and are in love with this new car, they spend hours reading the manual - front to back. They sit in the car in the garage and enjoy learning about controls and setting options. An owner has the access and the time to learn about the exotic sports car in their garage. These reviewers jump in and then complain they don’t know how to turn on the wipers or don’t even mention the heads up display. Ferrari is not trying to build an arcade game - they want owners to drive the car - having controls on the steering which makes the controls easy to access while keeping hands on the wheel lets you drive the car without having to reach out to flip a switch and take your attention from the windshield and your hands off the steering wheel. These reviewers should spend the hours reading the manual and then days driving the car and try to learn what each haptic does that is on the steering wheel. And do it enough times that they learn how to operate control surfaces. Ever seen a Ferrari race car steering wheel? All the controls for the driver are on the steering wheel because this puts controls at a finger length for the driver and the drivers learn what every button does. Owners of a 296 - owners that actually drive the car - are likely smart enough to learn what every control surface does. Ferrari made the interior interface for owners not one day reviewers too lazy to read the manuals. Like giving someone a iPhone and expect them to understand how to use it in a day. Why not ask a Ferrari dealer for the names of 296 owners - who actually drive their car - if after a few weeks or so do they have an issue with the interface. And all the controls on the steering wheel is not an issue once you understand and have experience with the interface. It is not that the car can’t do anything in the car right it is that you guys are too lazy to learn how to deal with learning how to drive a $400,000 super car. It is not a Honda- try jumping into an F1 race car and say you can’t learn the controls in an hours time - just silly and belies your lazy approach to reviewing a car like the 296. Note this is the car that won at Le Mans, Daytona and the 24 hours of Nurburgring-- somehow the drivers were able to deal with the buttons on the steering wheel and win. Maybe because they were able to keep their hands on the steering wheel rather than taking the hands off the wheel to find a switch on the dash somewhere.

MRCarSounds was a lovely surprise for this video. Loved it. I'm afraid that I don't get this car. I don't understand why it exists. If it's supposed to be the "entry-level" Ferrari, then what is the use of the Roma then? It just looks like a reskinned 458, 488, F8??

I really like the rear end of the 296, not so much the side or front. The 296's V6 is actually the unit Aston Martin developed before Moers binned it. It's a shame Aston Martin didn't use it and it instead ended up in the hands of Ferrari.

These Ferraris are getting ridiculously, incredibly cutting edge. Great review as usual

I love how it looks ❣️ So much better, as the SF90 and better as the F8 ❕ I'm not a Ferrari guy, but this 296 I want to test... but I'm poor 😂 Love from Berlin 🇩🇪 Ramsi 😘

@Lozza117 Жыл бұрын
@@russiaisadictatorship.8865 Yeah but compare what 400k can get you and it starts to look stupid. I could get a brand new 911 gt3 rs which is a much better car and still have money left over for a top spec rangerover and an M5

Found TH about 6 months ago now, and am I glad I did! You guys seem to have hit the perfect mix of old (UK) Top Gear (Tiff, Chris, Jeremy) and new(ish) (UK) Top Gear (Jeremy, James, Richard) I absolutely hated TG when it switched from being a motoring program to an 'entertainment' program with all it's shi**y 'lets turn a pick up into a boat, then let it sink' garbage. You guys have nailed it, great cars, informed reviews and just the right amount of humour Keep up the good work😃

Remove the infotainment. There, I said it. Give me an analogue gauge cluster. No apple car play. No android auto. No navigation. Not a single touch screen. Not a single capacitive touch button. Not a single square millimeter of piano black. All I want is a needle, with a screen behind it that shows electric boost/charge, the speed, mpg, temps, fuel level, and the battery percentage. Turn indicators should be separate leds, not on the screen. The start/stop button should be a big red round button on the steering wheel. That's all I will ever want out of a super car, and I would even go as far as to say that's all I personally want out of any car. For navigation I'll use my phone, it's way better than anything any car has to offer anyway.

Who actually believes Ferrari's claimed dry weight? Evo weighed it at it was 200 lbs heavier than advertised.
@charliemaybe Жыл бұрын
i mean even if it weighed 200 lbs more, it is still pretty light.
@GoesSlow Жыл бұрын
@@charliemaybe Depends on what you're comparing it to. It's heavier than an R8, Artura, GT4 RS, BMW M4, Huracan, 458 and 488.
@charliemaybe Жыл бұрын
@@GoesSlow you kind of have to compare this to other mid engine hybrids as this is in a new segment different from more traditional sports and super cars. I mean even comparing to other super cars it isn’t that heavy. Although I think they kinda missed out by not adding a small electric motor in the front for awd especially for launches and the exits of corners. For an almost half a mil vehicle, it does have a surprising amount of flaws and I just don’t see this as anywhere near its asking price.
