Right back at you…. When I wake up each day, I hope that it’s going to be a good day. I’m happy to report that most of them are. I’m glad I could contribute to your good day.

Kudos to the guy pointing out the mistake. Love the fact that you own up to the mistake, Rob. And you choosing to put a spin and reformulate it to Uncle Rob’s Redo Party Dessert show how you are blossoming as a proper content creator. It’s like we’re learning along with you as well. It’s awesome. As for your final product, give me a hot cup of tea and I’ll probably devour the entire thing.

I have a confession to make… Because Patti doesn’t really like lemon, I ate the rest of that and only a couple days. Probably not the smartest thing to do, but because I removed a lot of the sugar I don’t feel all that bad about it. Yes, I appreciate people commenting and pointing out when I’ve done something wrong. Thank you to the person that pointed this out. I was happy that I could redo this recipe and make it something that I’m looking forward to sharing.

Amazing, you somehow made the recipe edible!
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Thank you. It actually is quite edible. I made a test run of it just to see if my idea was going to work and it did! I actually gave some to one of my granddaughters and she liked it. So I knew I had to make one for video. I definitely will be making this for some family gathering in the future.

Rob is like the complete opposite of Jack. It's like that bizarro episode of Seinfeld. Where the opposites of Jerry (Jack) and the gang are nice and intelligent people. Hahah

I have to look that episode up. There are so many classic Seinfeld episodes. Thanks for commenting and all the support.

I like how you measure things. One youtuber I know would have used the whole bag of pecans and a whole pound of butter for the crust. Thank you for your hard work and dedication and thank you to Patti too!
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
If you want to make something is repeatable, you really need to know exact measurements. I learned that from both my mom and dad. There are times I do just dump things in. But those are usually times I’m cooking for myself and I’m just trying to get rid of some things I have in the refrigerator or my spice cabinet. I made a video a few months ago that re-created a recipe from a KZbinr that just seemed to dump things into a pot. His turned out to taste like dog vomit. (His words) My version, using actual measurements, turned out very good. I think I’ll continue measuring as I’m cooking.

Great video Uncle Rob! You eliminated everything that was sketchy about the original and improved the presentation tenfold.
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Thank you very much. I’m not sure how anybody could’ve tasted the original version and with a straight face say something like mmm…this is so goood…. It truly wasn’t. The crunch of the celery, and the green pepper along with the strange taste of the pimento really made it not very likable. I do realize that what I actually came up with is not a party cheese salad. But, I still have cheese in it And I’m gonna bring it to a party one day. Thanks again for all the support and the great comments.

Wow! Never thought I'd see a party cheese salad that I would actually be willing to try, but here we are. I could imagine the addition of the crust and crushed nuts would already make it taste far better than the previous version. Good on you for accepting your mistake and even going as far as doing a redo video. I know of some KZbinrs out there who can't handle any sort of criticism at all and even go as far as saying that criticizing someone publicly means you're a "hater"!
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
I don’t mean to toot my own horn here, but, it actually turned out really really good. I thought about what I didn’t like about the original party cheese salad, and decided to not incorporate the nuts and the whip cream the way the original was done. Mine turned out nice. It’s a finger food dessert that is sweet and tangy. I actually made a test run before the video and had my four-year-old granddaughter try it. She loved it! Thanks for the compliment and the support.

Loved the video, Rob! Love your positive energy and sense of humor.
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Thank you for noticing the humor in this. In the grand scheme of things, aunt Myrna‘s party cheese salad is just a hiccup in time. People should take advantage of those short little hiccups to find joy.

An actual party cheese salad that’s legitimately sweet and desert like? Never thought I’d see the day.
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Yes, I thought it was a good idea to make this something that both Patti and I would enjoy. As I said in the video I really don’t like wasting food and I’m pretty sure if I would’ve made it exactly like the original I would have needed to waste this one too.
@pittstonjoma7 ай бұрын
I was wondering if it would be good without the veggies. Thanks for making it!
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
So much better without the vegetables. I could see how the crunch of the celery and the green pepper might be appealing, but the overwhelming flavor of that green pepper, and those pimentos really threw that recipe off. I am glad I tried this.

God damnit Rob, I love you. This was a fantastic idea.
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Thanks. I knew I had to do something when it was pointed out that I screwed up the first attempt. I’m glad the version I came up with was actually pretty appealing. As always, thank you so much for your support and your continued positive feedback.

You did the redo! I was so excited 😁 The result looks great! I like how you explained the flavor profile and how each ingredient contributes. Some KZbin chefs don't even take the time to explain how their recipes work. Maybe they don't even know!
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
I have noticed that some “experts” don’t seem to understand basic flavor compliments, and seem to get upset if you ask them about it. To me that shows a basic misunderstanding of essential cooking concepts. One guy I have watched seems to excessively use ingredients that he likes, and in his mind thinks are healthy in any quantities. I’m pretty sure he has ruined a few meals for his family.

What a good example for how to correct an oops! I admire your humility and ability to take a problem and turn it into an opportunity. That looked delicious :)
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Thank you for saying that. I do have to tell you, I was totally shocked when I read that comment. I thought no way did I make that sort of mistake. Yeah the flavor would’ve been very similar, but it did mess up the texture a bit. oh well, I learned something and that made it a good day.
@Kametatsu7 ай бұрын
I greatly admire the integrity you showed in admitting you made a mistake and your commitment to fixing it. So when you then improved exponentially on the source material, it was all the more impressive! Excellent work as always, Uncle Rob!
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Thank you for the compliment. Yes, I think I did improve it a bit and I’m very surprised nobody has done this in the past. I think most people could see where the problems might be with the original.
@TabbyTimeOut7 ай бұрын
Amazing job. I've been trying to think up ways to fix this recipe for years.
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes, this did turn out pretty good. I think if I do it again, I’ll probably use the complete block of cream cheese, and all of the pineapple. The filling was actually very tasty.
@mistershabba7 ай бұрын
Not the video I was expecting, those eagle eyed commentors sure see everything but good on you for re-doing it in an interesting way. It shows great respect for the original recipe to keep the concept but to adjust it so that it would be more to your liking and isn't that what makes cooking so great?
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
One thing I have learned from doing KZbin videos for the last couple years, people are watching everything. They try to determine where you were standing during outside shots and they watch closely quantities and ingredients when you’re making things. I think that is so cool. I feel honored that people care enough to actually point out if I’ve made a mistake. I’m glad I could keep the original concept sort of intact here. I really did need to get rid of those vegetables though…

Making a mistake in the party cheese salad can only improve things though, right? Great idea to make an edible version of the recipe!
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
As the young kids say… True Dat. (Actually, they probably don’t say that anymore either). Honestly, sort of happy I made that mistake because it gave me a reason to try to make it better. There was no way I was going to ever make that original recipe again, but changing it up a bit I think improved it quite a bit.

This was fun, I am tempted to make one myself. Only problem is cool whip isnt a thing here, you can buy it but its imported and very pricey, which is a shame because the rest of the ingredients are cheap to buy. Is there something you would suggest for an alternative?
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
I would say any sort of whipped cream would work just as well. Cool whip tends to be a sweeter topping. I think regular whip cream would be fine with this thing. The tartness of the lemon Jell-O needs something to mellow it out a little bit.

It isn't Party Cheese Salad without pimentos and the feeling of bile rising in your throat. Nice redo nevertheless though.
@RobMilanowski7 ай бұрын
Yeah… I suppose the title is a little misleading. I’m trying to get better at Clickbait. I was careful in naming my actual dish a party dessert. I am very happy I made something that did not cause the bile raising phenomenon.

I was liking this until you put cheddar on top. I just can’t picture that flavor combination working (sweet plus cheddar). Still it looks far better than Aunt Myrna’s version.
@RobMilanowski6 ай бұрын
It actually was a pretty good addition to the flavor. The pineapple was very sweet and the lemon Jell-O very tart. The saltiness of that cheddar cheese was a very nice contrast.
