SM had that foundation on lockdown. Bada (or sea; the t-boz hairstyle chick) was the main vocals/leader. Eugene (the one with the hair down all the time) was your visual/sub rapper/english speaker. Shoo (pigtails) was the maknae/dancer/rapper/japanese speaker. The guys rapping at the beginning would become the rappers of Shinhwa. Red velvet remade their song 'Be natural'. Their MV for 'love' was at the time the most expensive MV. This really took me back! Definitely check out Love and Be natural. Also for the next TBT, you should do 'CSJH The Grace' all powerhouse vocals that where slept on!

When I thought of S.E.S I never expected them to be this cool. Honestly, were they to debut right now I truly believe they could be on top just like they were in the nineties. NOSTALGIA - I'm 34 and This song was change whole game of 'K-POP' and Dezzy you are right, T.L.C inspired the group. even the name S.E.S which is combined initials of members like T. L. C. First S stands for Bah-Dah, The main vocal, her name is translated in English as 'Sea', and E stands for Eugine, the visual with long hair now a respected Actress once lived in the state, and Last S stands for Shu, the lead vocal, 3rd Generation Korean-Japanese. SM wanted to be a global at the first attempt, what a ambitious.

Bada is the original Kpop vocal queen! Her stage name at this point was Sea and switched to Bada either late in SES's career or after they disbanded. She is one of the original idols to transition into doing musical theater acting and helped end the stigma. SES are still amazing artists individually but came back together to do an album to celebrate their 20th anniversary of debut back in 2016. You should check out some of their other stuff!

You should definitely check out S.E.S - Dreams Come True (fun fact; it's actually a cover song from a finnish girl duo called Nylon Beat; the original song is called "Like A Fool" - Nylon Beat's song came out in 1996 and S.E.S cover came out in 1998 if I remember correctly; finally a moment when I can proudly say I'm from Finland :DDD) But I just love these Throwback videos so much!! I've been listening k-pop for a long ass time now and I had this huge korean 90's phrase going on a few years ago, so it's nice to see people reacting to these songs. Honestly, no other female idol vocalist has come close to Bada. Even until now, she’s still much more impressive than all these other idols with extensive vocal training. S.E.S. were SM's first girl group and also the first Kpop group to debut in Japan in 1998. Their Japanese career wasn't successful but they found success in Taiwan. S.E.S. were based on groups like Spice Girls and TLC. S.E.S. still holds several records as the only girl group whose debut album sold 650,000 copies. S.E.S. holds the record of the Kpop girl group album with the most sales, their 3rd album Love with 780,000 copies. Btw predebut Eric and Andy of Shinhwa rap in I'm Your Girl. Red Velvet did a remake of S.E.S.'s Be Natural.

I first started watching Kpop in 1998 when Shinhwa, HOT, SES, Fin KL, and Babyvox were big ... with the International Channel in the USA cable tv. Other than that, I wouldn't have known KPOP either until I got to college and my roommate is Korean and she introduced me to more Kpop groups. But then again, I probably wouldn't have had a Korean roommate if I didn't list out Kpop as an interest in my roommate matching criteria.

I was introduced to this group with a cover by young BigBang haha that was one fun video . I saw on an youtube chanel interviews done on street about idols dating (after Hyuna EDawn scandal) and some guys mentioned how when they were young men were ready to suicide at the mention of SES members dating so new fans should not underestimate the power of these first groups
