Surface densifiers are a great way to go. I've not tried on with the top coat like you used...I may consider it for my new garages. One thing I've learned over the years about surface densifiers is that extra care should be taken with spills and related things so the densifier has time to work. Time to work properly and fully can be a year or more.

Depending on full cost of getting the city to run power to the shop, you could consider solar. Depending on what you are wanting to power you could probably do it for 5-8k without any digging. It may still be cheaper getting the trench though depending on exact cost.

Great video. I have been dreaming of having a workshop just like yours and I was also thinking of how to protect the floor so this video was very informative so thanks

I 2nd the motion to make the shop off grid. between the trenching and the wire running it might be a better move to put solar on the roof and an inverter and batteries inside.....depending your cost per kilowatt you could recoup any additional upfront money in a year or two AND you'll have a place that is unaffected by grid outages.

A lot of effort but I feel like you won’t regret the floor process!

What kind of roller did you use? Good video and perfect timing for me and my new 1500sq ft workshop floor.

Thanks for the video. Two questions: 1. How long did you wait between applications with 8510, and 2nd did you rolled after each application? Tanks
@RM_Garage5 ай бұрын
@@tarzan30809 the 8510 is wet on wet so once I was done with the 1st coat I waited about 15 mins and applied the second coat. I did roll it out.

This looks exactly what I would like to do. I just poured my floor and it looks very nice just like yours and my question is how long do I have to wait before I can apply this on my new concrete? On their website now and didn’t see anything and I’m doing 1000 ft.² and it looks like I’m gonna be spending around $700 together for the 4500(2gallons) and 8510(5gallons) any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated! Love your shop

I'm really not sure how long you have to wait. I would guess at least a couple of weeks, but you could call GhostShield, they're actually very responsive and you'll probably talk to a real human.

@@RM_Garage ok thank you so much! How is it holding up so far?
@RM_Garage3 ай бұрын
@@liamschoening7933 It's awesome! If you watch my axle teardown videos, I did all of that on the ghostshield-protected floor and it looks fresh and clean still... and that's a messy job.

is that product suitable for outside use? Will it tolerate the suns UV exposure?

Do you think it's possible to add a liquid or powdered dye into the mixture to get some color? And if so would you mix it in with the 4500 or 8510. Then also does the dye or stain need to be solvent or water based. Good video. Thx
@RM_Garage5 ай бұрын
@@peterbeertema6494 id probably ask ghostshield. No idea. I do wish it had a gloss finish or semi gloss.

@RM_Garage I just🎉 tore the carpet of 2500 sq ft heated building. I have a lot of sanding to do in order to get all the glue off the concrete. Thanks for the info. I'll give Ghostshield a call next week. I leaning towards the Eagle sealer but you had to go and give me another option didn't you lol Cheers

Ghost shield says you should etch polished concrete before applying the 4500.
@RM_Garage3 ай бұрын
Ghost Shield walked me through this whole process on the phone and said to do it how I did it. It wasnt a polished finish, but was very smooth
@draker5413 ай бұрын
@@RM_Garage ah right on. From the video it looked polished. When I heard you say it wasn’t absorbed and you’d have more left over I assumed it was polished. I got the same prescription from ghostshield, but they wanted me to etch first. My concrete is machine polished and very smooth. Kind of a shame having to etch it. I found your video looking for application techniques and tips. How do you like the results and how is it holding up months later?

nice garage and nice work. my only question is how does it hold up to gasoline and diesel fuels?
@hvspeed61028 ай бұрын
I’m sorry you went with ghost shield. It’s a waste. Lives up to its name, less than a year later, like a ghost, the stuff was gone. Like I never applied it. At least it doesn’t leave a residual. I’m going with Eagle next.
