Earned a sub mate. My PB was about 16m after beefing up after my decathlon days were over, but trained with and later trained John Minns of Australia who was an elite junior who broke the Australian record with 19.64 at age 19. Injuries slowed his progress from then on. He ran 22.8 for 200m as a 14yo btw to win the nationals 100m (11.2), and Shot put title in under 15 year age group when he was already about 6' tall and 90kg. Werner Reiterer, who later threw about 66m in the Discus pipped him in that event. It takes power and athleticism for sure. And many many drills for technique.

Point of thought, I think it would be difficult to PUT a tennis ball very far even though its light because there is still a certain velocity needed from that position to get distance. On the other hand, if this shot put was an 80 pound cannon ball or stone, I think Hall could throw it about as far as anyone else.

How about we see the world's best put the shot in the same style as Eddie, so that we can measure the effect of 'technique' over raw strength in the distance achieved?

@@ThrowsUniversity Timing in all Olympic throwing events is crucial, but I've considered that if we eliminate the crouched push, or rotation throw, then we can more appropriately isolate the strength component. Ya it’s too much weight to throw like a baseball. The force on the shoulder and especially the elbow would mess you up. Baseball pitchers often get elbow problems, sometimes really bad. Because of the weight of the baseball and speed. They throw a lot and really fast. But imagine throwing something in a baseball style way but it’s like 20 times or more heavier than a baseball. The joints aren’t designed to support a movement like that with that kind of weight.

Yes. Go after him and get him on after his boxing match. He was a high caliber swimmer. Teach him the basics of hammer and etc. He earns a living with publicity. He would not be shy about mutual marketing. Think of all the young strongmen/women who he could influence to throw. Also, I once saw a “primitive” strength trainer try to teach a standing shot/stone put as a method for improving strength. This was from both sides. Hypothetically, what would it benefit us mere mortals/rank beginners to learn the coordination and strength from both sides? I mean as a kid I would throw baseball straight up into the air and catch it to strengthen my shoulder. Dad gave me a right glove to rep with my left arm also. He thought it would keep both shoulders healthy and strong. I would like to try both hammer and shot someday, maybe even do a amateur masters comp.

Are you telling me a high school kid throw further than Edie the beast hall

Coach is missing a huge opportunity to collaborate with Eddie Hall and draw his powerlifting fans into the field events. What a shame...

I would love to see Eddie Hall try to play rugby he'd keel over!

this is embarrassing. I throw further off a standing start and I can't even deadlift 400lbs... Just goes to show strength alone, isn't everything.

When I compare him to you his strong you're weak. He's able to handle waights you can only look at it especially when it comes to deadlift or bench press or squatting. So analyze this.

That's actually pretty good, considering he has not the slightest glue of the technique...

they did this as a "lets see how far we can make this go"... they do not have access to an area where there is a concret circle... are you for real...only slightly in an frankly you kinda ticking me off... gonna fast forward ahead to see what you say cause frankly don't like your attitude.. the man is working on boxing, is doing this just to see not as a career why are you cutting every littl thing he does into a ton of tiny little peices???? Are you really just that petty of a person??... fast forward to the end cause frankly did not think I could tolerate you and yeah you gotta cut him down... I love Eddie guy lives life to the fullest and says it like it is.. never claimed to be any good at it just figured he would give it a go... you need to take it down six notches omg bud

All in good fun. We just thought this would be a unique way to introduce people to shot put and teach the basic mechanics of the throw. No mean to offend. We've had a lot of international success with our athletes and just want to share how fun of a sport throwing can be to more people 💪

I love that Eddie is having fun and making entertaining videos in addition to his training videos. Have you seen Robert Oberst, Brian Shaw, Eddie Hall, and Nick Best do the Highland Games shotput (stone put)? kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGiZq3SQbJd6grc is totally worth a watch, would love to see your reaction to it!
