I alternated oil pulling before brushing and after brushing and spit in separate bottles for each. The spot bottle with the before brushing oil smelled so rancid unlike anything you can smell. The spit bottle with the post brushing spit didn’t smell rancid. Take what you will from that small experience but it seems to me like brushing before takes care of a lot of bacteria.

That's a scientific mind! :D However, in my eyes it mainly shows that oil pulling works in that it extracts all the bacteria from the mouth - which it is supposed to do. If you want to compare the efficiency of oil pulling versus tooth brushing you would need to spit the brushing fluids into another bottle and then compare both smells.

Loved your first video you made a while back about a year ago. I wish I started then. I’ve been consistently oil pulling everyday since the 8th of November of this month and while nothing drastic has changed yet, there’s still some change, all have been positive. I’m 21 days in and my teeth feel a stronger (chewing hard/rigid foods with my front teeth especially felt scary, I have more confidence in chewing with my front teeth now), my gums aren’t bleeding as much when I floss now as they used to before but they still bleed, and my teeth have also gotten a little bit whiter. I’ve heard adding a little bit of oregano or tea tee oil to the coconut oil is nice for some great anti inflammatory and anti bacterial effects but I’m gonna stick with the coconut oil for now. Cheers and much love big guy ♥️

Oil pulling isn’t a miracle solution, unless you pair it with dietary changes for remineralizing your teeth and using pink Himalayan salt both to hydrate and as a mouthwash. If you combine all of that with oil pulling, especially if you use an anti microbial essential oil with the coconut oil, it literally is miraculous what it can do for you. Age - 23 ( sorry for bad english) I have gum disease and tarter build up behind my fronth teeth with a lot of gum recession on all front teeth. I got my deep scaling done on monday. Gums are healed but still receded after 48 hours. I am starting oil pulling today i will give u an update after some time. ( If any teenager reading my comment please start taking care of your teeths or else they will cost a lot in future ) Day 1 - i oil pulled with virgin cold pressed coconut oil . I was able to do it for 15 min . Found nothing different, i will update after a month...or in a week maybe. 1 month update - hey folks, so i will be honest i missed a couple of days, but i am consistent from this past week. As i mentioned in one of the comment on this post that my dentist did a bad deep cleaning and new one is said he cant do a cleaning until gums get in a little better shape. So my current status is same actually. so far oil pulling does nothing for me, but i still have tartar in so many teeths so maybe this week i will get another cleaning done a good one, and then i will coninue with oil pulling ( dentist said that i have periodontitis which is stage 2 of gingitivitis which cannot be cured ) next update after a month

I know that the general advice is to do this 1st thing in the morning, because, they say, that's when there's the most bacteria in our mouths. Seems more likely to me there's MUCH more in our mouths after we've eaten or drank something. What do you think? And, I know, the general advice is 15 to 20 minutes, then spit and rinse. But I can easily swish much longer, especially if I'm doing something else. Someone once told me that if we pull longer than that 15 or 20 minutes, the toxins will go out of the oil and back into us, somehow. What do you make of that idea? Myself, I find it a bit hard to believe.
@brewinghabits
@brewinghabits Жыл бұрын
I agree with all of your points. Not only do I not do it in the morning, There is actually a name for this, which is "Gundusha. Instead of swishing it, you fil your mouth fully and just keep it in your mouth for a longer time. I also keep it in my mouth for extended periods of time up to like 30min, but its more of a hybrid of both techniques where I swish early on and when the liquid expands, I slow it down. As for not doing it the first thing in the morning, I do it mostly mid-day as a refresher after my coffee and it has worked well for me.

I just had a cleaning which a cavity was found so once thats fixed hopefully those will be much less.

Keep in mind that the vast majority of other dentists don't agree with that recommendation. Oil pulling (or mouthwash) can knock stuff loose for sure, but it won't get everything. A mouth isn't like a stomach or colon - there aren't really "good bacteria" colonies that form and aid in digestion or anything like that. Flossing also helps strengthen your gums which has a number of benefits. It's better to pull/rinse than do nothing at all, but it's really not a substitute for flossing. That tiny piece of meat stuck in a corner is not doing good things for your teeth.

If you hate flossing, try those dental water jets to clean between teeth.
@Galiaverse
@Galiaverse Жыл бұрын
I use a simple rechargeable water jet myself. Definitely forces out lots of food particles and is useful. But it doesn't clean perfectly. I also supplement with those Y-shaped floss tools (finger-held string flossing is _awful_ ; smooth gliding floss is better if your teeth gaps are really small), and even after a water jet clean I can still find minor particles on the floss. With daily oil pulling and water jet cleaning, teeth will definitely be very clean even if flossing is irregular. But still recommend flossing. I say this as somebody who also strongly dislikes flossing.

@medusa4944
@medusa4944 Жыл бұрын
Dear Salome, unfortunately I heard something similar on the YT-Channel of nutritionfacts, but only with 2 or 3 anecdotes to "prove" it. That was over a year ago, when I was considering oil pulling. Despite the deluge of comments below that video talking about positive experiences with oil pulling I decided not to do it. One year later, 3 deep cavities were found in my teeth, one needed a root canal. All of that cost me 400€. Short before they were found I had started oil pulling just to try. Very soon the oversensitivity of my teeth stopped. I have continued since and regret that I let myself be influenced by this fearmongering. I believe those cavities could have been prevented. On closer inspection of that video I also discovered that some comments debunked the claims. As far as I remember, those instances of pneumonia did not stem from oil pulling but from pulling oil through the nostrils, which is a total different practice. He even included one instance of a man injecting oil in his testicles to enlarge it, resulting in either pneumonia or some other health problem. Again, has nothing to do with oil pulling. My conclusion: experience trumps claims of experts (which in this case were badly put together anyway). If many many people have positive results with a practice it probably *is* good.
