Here is a rundown of Day 2 of the Thunder Ranch Night Vision Course...
Building on what we had learned previously and continuing to drink from the firehose, the instructors layered on more training. Not going super deep in a specific facet of using NODs, but giving an overview of a number of topics. To include concepts and principles of clearing your house (CQB lite), considerations for driving with night vision, how to exit a vehicle with NVDs on as well as some medical training.
A lot of great reps under different conditions with different tasks. And to top it off, another nature walk...

You absolutely cannot appreciate just how difficult shooting, moving, and comms/admin is in full gear under nods is until you've tried it. It takes you back to noob status so fast it's unbelievable.

Stairwells fun. I remember clearing an old farm house. I was covering a rm & looked to the stairs to see what was happening. Guy tossed FB up stairs it bounces back goes boom between the legs of the guy covering up the stairs. It had vent holes to direct blast so he was ok(lucky). But all the plaster came off the walls in the stairs. Massive dust cloud, narrow path up centre of stairs, awesome.

If we live nowhere near the ranch, how can we travel that far with all the gear especially via commercial airlines?

How much of an advantage are dual tubes vs a pvs14? Are you better off just saving up for the dual tubes and not considering the monocular?
@theLeadGin
@theLeadGin 3 жыл бұрын
Are duals nice? Hell yeah. Will a pvs-14 work? Hell yeah. If you can only afford a pvs-14 do it, don't go broke buying duals. Plus you have to factor in all the other costs you can get a good wp pvs-14 for 3k but then you have mounts, helmets, ir lights + lasers and so on. So before you know it your your pvs-14 setup has cost you 5k and those 7k duals end up costing 10k.

@@theLeadGin Thanks for reply. I actually recently bought a surefire m600v white/ir light, DBAL, unity tactical sync dual pressure pad, ops core helmet with amps and surefire m300v white/ir. The very last couple of things I need are the actual nods and the mount. Just torn on single vs dual tubes. I’d hate to get the pvs-14 only to want to upgrade later, but at the same time I have other expensive hobbies and am also working on home remodels too lol.

@@joncampo1627 If you wanted duals(bought them after) and didn't feel like going through the trouble of selling the PVS-14, get a bridge mount and FLIR Breach or maybe even just end up with the dual nv/thermal capability instead of dual nv tubes.

You can buy the PVS-14, then if you want to upgrade later, just buy a second PVS and boom, you have dual tubes!

All about priorities my guy. I get it if you have a lot of kids low paying job can barely make ends meet, but that's usually not the case. Most of the time it's someone saying they can't afford it meanwhile they smoke, eat out everyday, pays for every channel available, subscribes to all the streaming services, parties every weekend the list goes on and on. Hell a friend of mines bitches about not being able to afford nice optics, lights, lasers, and nv I saw in his safe once 10 ar15 2 had optics. What the hell man sell 8 and deck out the 2.
@jonathanwick1265
@jonathanwick1265 3 жыл бұрын
@@theLeadGin First off, what I said is a joke. Second, I don't do most of things you mentioned above (way too old for partying every weekend). Third, I have a decent paying job and still can't afford most of things in the video. Tell me you have 14k lying around for dual tube NVGs? Most average shooters can't even afford a Radian Model 1, let alone PVS-31s, a can, and a laser. All that stuff is cool for LARP'ing around but it doesn't apply to the majority of shooters out there. That's all.
