I'm so glad she talked about Britt Baker getting all the attention from that Lights Out match when THUNDER ROSA FREAKING WON!!!
@KenMathis12 жыл бұрын
But Britt took the most bumps and that was the defining characteristic of the match. Without that, people wouldn't be talking about the match at all now.
@jamessorge31972 жыл бұрын
@@KenMathis1naw.. taking nothing away from Britt but that match took two to Tango... they both came out like fxxxing stars... it was the dynamic they both brought to it that made it so magical. Britt could have taken those bumps and rocked the crimson mask against any other opponent and it would have been great and brought her attention but it was Thunder Rosa who sent her to another stratosphere and put her over in a loss. The dynamic with the opposite outcome and Thunder taking the bumps and rocking that crimson face would not have had the same touch of perfection without Britt being the heel and Rosa being the badass baby face... it was a perfect performance from both of them and the precipice that ignited what will be looked back on as one of the most epic and legendary feuds over the next few years and of all time! Thunder Rosa is being built with a perfect slow burn to become the top Badass baby face in all of women’s wrestling. Would love to see her with the title and the four horsewomen show up in AEW and find out about the real women’s revolution. And at the time they did raise the bar from the Divas era and put on a lot of great women’s matches. But Rosa and Baker took the bar to outer space in their match. Literally lights out! To me that match is up there with Omega and Okadas matches! I want them to have a match where Britt cheats to win! And get a cheap roll up or something... that leads to an hour long iron women match with Thunder Rosa coming out on top! Should be at Revolution or Double or Nothing!
@KenMathis12 жыл бұрын
@@jamessorge3197 I didn't say Rosa didn't come out looking like a star. I said that Britt got most of the attention because she took the biggest bumps, which is what made the match stand out above all the others. The bumps are what the general public focused on most, not the wrestling or who won. To argue otherwise is to argue against what really ended up happening.

I rewatched the Lights Out match just hours before listening to this interview. I think Thunder Rosa was incredible in protecting Britt as a guiding veteran. That being said, however, Britt Baker took the brunt of the painful bumps and visually, not only from the blood, but from her acting performance came away as a star. It was a Mick Foley moment. Understand, I think that there is no doubt that Thunder Rosa is the better wrestler and I am looking forward to her beating Britt for the belt this year.

Thunder Rosa's acting performance was just as good, IMO. Her facial reactions made her look like she was driven insane. I agree with you regarding the bumps. I think that another factor in Britt getting the flowers is that more people were familiar with Britt's journey, so to speak. People have been following her since the start of AEW, so more people felt connected to her vs. Thunder Rosa. In comparison, Rosa was somewhat unknown by most viewers, coming from the NWA. As someone who was watching the NWA before the hiatus, I didn't have that feeling, but I can see non NWA viewers feeling that way.

That Rosa making me cry, when she cries, I cry. Very interesting her take of Mercedez and Serena being her early influence hits different thinking of their previous matches. I knew when Rosa and Britt finished her match she was saying something to her afterwards. I still think she might be keeping some kayfabe about their feud and probably said a we did it, but I like that she's doing that their rematch is going to be money.

I'm such a fan. I didn't know her before her match in AEW, but I looked up her past matches and the more I learn about her story the bigger fan I become. It's really cool she's giving back to her community, now that she's got the fame, but to learn she was a social worker and was giving back before that is so cool.

I don’t think it was because Thunder wasn’t signed to AEW, but more of Britt was the one people were anticipating to see if her wrestling skills were really worth her hype and push. Britt’s wrestling style isn’t high flying or super technical so when people saw that she could take bumps and that much damage to her body, it really impressed everyone. The momentum was on her side at the time because her character work was highly entertaining and people wanted to see her slow burn to the top of AEW women’s division. With that, I agree with Thunder saying that it wasn’t her time then.. but she also came out a badass & I believe more people, mainstream wrestling fans at least, now knew her name.

Thunder Rosa is a Mother "effin" star! What makes her special is literally put her in any match, any situation and it will be better because she is there. While they are very different......it reminds me Kevin Owens.....put him or Rosa in a match count me interested.

Thunder Rosa is the best! I’d seen her before and then a few NWA matches but she became one of my favorites when she did the champ vs champ match against Shida... that match didn’t get the credit it deserved because of the matches on that card and placement but I remember just thoroughly enjoying it! And I was an instant fan of hers and knew she’d either end up in AEW or do other matches collaborating with NWA and AEW... and then the lights out match was the best women’s match I’d ever watched! Not only that it was one of the best matches period! And I’ve been watching since the 80s! All promotions! That match had it all and had me wondering so many times how much farther it could go and who was gonna win! Thought it was over for sure like ten times! Thunder Rosa has to be the one that beats Britt for the title and I love what Britt has done too! Ruby should beat Jade for the TBS title and Statlander should beat Ruby!! Rosa and Britt should FIGHT FOREVER over the AEW Women’s title! And add Shida and Deeb in that mix!

This is another one of my faves you have done so far. I have seen other interviews she has done and I learn more about her story each time, in this case I learned the part about her time before Lucha Underground and the effort she put in to get to were she is now. I started watching her in the NWA back when they had NWA Powerrr on their You Tube. I am an 80's, early 90's, Gen X kid, so I grew up on the mid 80's, NWA, early 90's WCW and the golden age of WWE and Attitude Era. Rosa You Tube Vlog is one of a few I watch in terms of AEW and her Taco vlogs make me want tacos everytime, even if I am not in the mood for some. My favorites on the taco vlog so far are Ty Conti, Vickie Guerrero, and Mick Foley. Watching her vlog overall it is cool to see the woman, wife, and cool mom(Melissa) behind the persona that is Thunder Rosa. She has become one of the wrestlers on my "list" recently that I'de like to meet when I can of the few I have yet to of those I have met over the yrs.

I jumped partway through the premiere, so I’ll have to watch it all soon. But from where I started, she really has the heart and soul in doing whatever she dreams. Glad to hear she also has a strong, supportive network to help her when she needs it. Not going to lie, her words just kicked me in the butt. I’m hoping to start graduate school in the fall, so it’s application season for me. Plot twist, my computer crashed recently (haven’t turned it on in like five days and now I can’t access it). Going to need to figure out how to work around that, but if she did all of that to accomplish her goals and dreams, then we will need to let her live rent free in my head to kick my butt so I can do the same. 😅
