When the royal family adopts a kid, but actually gets a kid that's *related by blood* then the kid related by blood is the obvious heir and rightful Prince of the kingdom. It makes sense that the mother stopped calling him the Prince because the baby that's growing inside of her is the official Prince.

I think the Queen was told to stop calling Tygra "prince" after she got pregnant because at 1:21, when she replaces "prince" with "darling", she has a hurt expression as if she knows she's hurting him by saying it... but has no choice.

I think you're right that she felt bad for saying it, I just don't understand why. Yes having a 'true heir' would mean Tygra would never be King but surely she could keep calling him her handsome little Prince? I'm certain a few of the characters called Tygra 'Prince' in the first episode (but since full episodes of this are extinct I can't be sure). Cute but super sad at the same time 😿😿😿

I saw this episode a long time ago, when this series was still on the air. When the queen died, I felt for Tygra, knowing he lost the only mother he ever knew. On another note, I'm curious as to why the Cats of Thundera look more human than the other animal races, considering their facial features.

Not fully sure but being mum-ra prized them as a very valuable species for his conquest, one can only assume they have more genetic material shared with mum-ra than the other species. (Mum-ra literally bioengineered the species between his dna and the dna of snarf.)

When I was 15 I visited a big cat rescue center, and one of the things I got to do was actually hold a tiger cub. They are the softest little things, their fur is surprisingly wooly like. The one I held went limp and fell asleep in my arms. So this clip brings back that memory for me.

The mother had trouble getting pregnant, not expecting kids anytime soon they adopted Tygra as their own and he would be the heir to the throne. Then out of the blue Lion-O was born. And by blood birth right he took priority over Tygra. it's a sad situation of we thought we needed u but we really don't 😔

I really liked the remake series, just a shame it never got a chance to run its course 😞😞😞 But no matter how many times I watch this scene I have to wonder: why did the Queen stop calling Tygra 'her handsome little prince'? Yes-yes Lion-O would be the next King by birthright BUT Tygra is still recognised as a Prince of Thundera. Surely she could still have called him Prince because even though he would never be King he would still be a Prince? Such a sweet flashback, sad he had to lose another mother again so young ... pretty sure this is a big part of his resentment towards Lion-O even though Lion-O can't be blamed for being born! Thanks for a fun nostalgia trip ^_^

I remember at some point in the original 80's series Lion-o says to Tygra "if anything happens to me I name you as Lord of the Thundercats." Or something to that effect, it had something to do with repairing the sword of omens which might cost Lion-o his life. I guess they took that and ran with it here.

We can all agree that while he ain't related to them, he was adopted by the parents out of their own free will and therefore had the right to become the next king despite not being related to them. But if they're just really strict with blood relations, they could've atleast made him a Thane or something. Then again, I think Thane is lower than prince, I forgot.

Lion-O’s mother died during labor. I wish she hadn’t died during labor. I would have had her live, and have Lion-O and Tigra discover that she hadn’t died but left the kingdom because she knew the threat of Mum-Ra and wanted to do something to save the kingdom. Have her die protecting her sons instead, or have her journey with them. Death during labor is far too common in the anime world.

It's sad that he lost the endearment his mom gave him, but at the same time he really lucked out to be adopted by the King and Queen of the biggest empire on 3rd Earth at the time.
